That's three great players. It is extremely difficult to maintain a Tour card year after year, and there is no way to fake it.

Fleetwood hasn't been firing on all cylinders for a while. Not putting as well he can. PGA Tour doesn't show any mercy.

Yeah not a good year for him. Not sure if he is going to try to get his full card back in the KFT Playoffs. Good thing is that he is in the 126-150 category on the PGA Tour for FEC points. He will get a bunch of starts out of that priority category next season plus additional sponsor exemptions. The downside is he can not plan out his PGA Tour schedule in advance.

If he keeps his OWGR ranking up he will also be eligible for a WGC event or two and the majors. After the RC is he going back to the ET for the Race To Dubai?

He's on a flight back to Manchester as we speak.

Next start is Wentworth, then Ryder Cup, then whatever event he wants to play on tour in the fall.

If he wants to play he'll be given an invite.

Those guys will get plenty of starts that is for sure. It might not be playing the events that they want to play in but they definitely won’t struggle for game time. Fleetwood has just never really gotten going this year.

At 202 Aaron Baddeley's career continues to slide. One of my favourites to watch.

Lots of other big names the wrong side of the cut;

Rickie Fowler, CHIII, Franco Molinari, Willett, Ben An, Jimmy Walker, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Kevin Chappell, Bill Haas, Nick Watney.

Some will have exempt status, some won't.

Does this have any implications for their sponsorship deals?

Tommy Fleetwood is all over TaylorMade's marketing channels. Does he get dropped? Crazy to think missing just 4 of 18 cuts still looses your card.

Curious. What well known players will be losing their PGA Tour cards in the next couple years?

Yeah, golf is really unpredictable.  I would never want to get into the business of guessing well known players who aren't going to finish in the top 125; there's a lot of room for everyone.

No way Taylormade cut him after making a big push to get him. Alongside McIlroy, he's their big European name. And it's not like he's not going to be playing big PGA Tour events next year.

I remember when Hank Haney had his radio show om XM, and he always would bring up the fact that a certain percentage of the Tour would turn over every X number of years. I don't remember the exact percentage, but it was a much higher number than I thought.

Yeah, it's the brutal reality.

Our memories also trick us into thinking Ryan Moore or Aaron Baddeley and other guys from that generation are still young guns. Those guys have probably been out there for almost 20 years.

Nope, that won’t happen.

The guys 126/150 are fine. He’s not even going to KFT finals.

it’s the 151/200 who really need to play well the next 3 weeks

So Tommy Fleetwood with an owgr of 38 is losing his card? Oh sweet baby Jesus... That doesn't make sense.

It does when you consider that status on the PGA Tour is based on top 125 and qualifying for FedExCup playoffs.  Tommy has never won on the PGA and really hasn't contended much in your run of the mill PGA Tour events so he hasn't been able to rack up points.   The fact that he is 38 in the OWGR and fans on this side of the pond seem to like him he will get his share of sponsors exemptions.

The article I read said he could use his career earnings exemption if he chose.  What was mot surprising to me was that he was #35 in career earnings.  Admittedly I do not and did not follow the comings and goings of Ryan Moore very closely but gun-to-my-head would not have picked him that high.

Same article that had the Ryan Moore info said that while he had missed very few cuts he also was not in the top 25 in any tournament I think.  So cashing a check just not a good one.

^Knowing that, it sort of kills the "journeyman Tour player" concept a bit doesn't it?  Tommy F doesn't fit that mold certainly but kind of goes to show you have to place pretty high fairly often to keep your card to be on Tour to cash those checks.

Thanks for the info.  So do you know if the days before the FedEx cup was invented, what would have been the metric for losing his card?

Honestly I could be mistaken and if I am I hope someone clarifies but I believe it was based on prize money won.  I believe with the Fed Ex Cup they went from a money system to a points based system.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
