You wouldn't happen to be one of the guys not letting faster golfers play through, would you? Lol. You seem pretty riled up about us complaining about the lack of etiquette. Mind you, what you said is funny as hell, but I don't exactly get where you're coming from.

Im sick of singles on a busy weekend trying to play through every foursome. That actually jams the course.

I can do 2:45 with nobody in front of me on our 6900 yard course if I walk briskly and play solo. By walking briskly, I mean 13-minute miles.  It is about 7 miles around the course.  That is 1:31 of walking and 1:14 for hitting shots, which seems about right.  Bit less than 1 minute per shot.

Same here. A few years ago, playing 6900, threesome walking/carrying, we played in 2:50. We all shot between 72-76. No lost balls. No one in front. Fall day. Loved it! Even though we had to wait in the bar for the guys behind us. I play our executive course from time to time when no one is on it. I can play 2 balls in 40-45 minutes. Total yardage would be around 2200 yards including distance between holes.

The guys at my club won't let anyone play through even if it's wide open ahead of them.  It happens on not-busy weekdays all the time. They're just a-holes who think they're entitled, plain and simple.

I understand it may seem esoteric. You're a drummer.

How do you know when a drum kit is level on a stand?

The drummer drools equally from both sides of his mouth.

How do you know if a drummer is knocking at your door?

He starts speeding up.

This drummer graduated college with a 4.0 GPA and keeps time very well, thank you.

I'm sure you do, except for the speeding up part.

How can you tell if the lead guitar player is knocking at the door?

He keeps going on and on and on and on and on...

Alright, young man. Don't get too triggered. Find a safe space, curl up and do a couple of paradiddles.

I'm not a snowflake, so no safe space needed. I may do some paradiddles, though. Just got a new electronic drum kit and it definitely brings out the creativity.  I  guess I might be a bit on edge right now. My grandfather just died a few days ago and one of my uncles is in the ICU on a ventilator with covid. Maybe I'm a little oversensitive at the moment.

Nice time.

Played 36 in 3:57 walking as twosome. Putting out, playing by the rules. Shooting around 75 both times. You can get around pretty fast if you want to.

Played 3:15-3:20 walking as foursome plenty of times and it does not feel fast as a regular round for us is 3:40ish.

As I'm sure you would agree, it's not so much playing fast but playing at a pace.  That includes a cadence in walking and where to drop your bag when you exit the green and efficiency on the greens.

I appreciate a quicker pace.

My best round of the year so far was a 77 off the tips at my club (6754 yards).

Playing solo with an electric trolley it took me 2:20. I holed out every hole and was held up for half of the front 9.

It's amazing the difference not having to look for a ball makes.

Back in the days when I was decent, me and my BiL could play our 6000 yard course in 2 hours as a 2ball, and score well.

I don't like to rush round as I enjoy my time playing golf and being outside. But, unless the conditions are extremely difficult, 3:30 is the longest a round should take.

Recently I've played a few competitions at my club and the pace of play is glacial. The last monthly medal we were the last group and we were out there for 4:45. We waited on every shot, and that's with 10 minute tee spacing.

It was depressing watching guys get a range finder out for every shot, when they've seemingly got no idea how far the ball will go, than take an age over deciding which club to use. Then stalk their putt for double like its a putt to win the open. Just hit the f kin ball.

As Manolo says. You suck at golf, so suck faster.

I've done a 60minute front 9, walking, as a single

I've also done a 45 minute 9 holes but didn't putt (every hole was +2 putts regardless)

As a Asst superintendent almost everyone here is a royal pain in my butt.

Enjoy your round and slow down. If you guys have a bunch of brutal pins, this is one of the reasons. When it takes us 4 hours to do our jobs and we only have a 1/2 hr head start don’t expect us to let you play through. It is my job to ensure the course is the best it can be for everyone.

now if you are pulling this off in the middle of day, nice job.

I guess if I was trying to play multiple rounds in one day I would care about the time it took to play but I don't get it unless you are trying to squeeze a round in before work or something. We had a guy in our group that was always timing us and bitching and moaning about our round taking 4:30 to 5 hours (4 ball with about $100 bucks on the line per player) and then after the round was over it wasn't like he had somewhere to go...he would literally sit there and talk with us for an hour after the round was over and hit range balls.  As someone who is caged in overseas for work 9 months of the year I don't care how long it takes to play because I am soaking in every second of it because I know that my days on the course are numbered before I have to go back to work.  Sure I get it that there is rhythm to a round and that players should be ready to play when it is their turn but the time that it takes to play a round is of no concern to me at this stage of my golf life. Also anyone that becomes accustomed to playing rounds that fast is certainly going to suffer if they play tournaments because it is for sure going to be a 6 hour round and so that person would be losing their mind if a round takes 3 times longer.

We ride, we are first group out, and our time for a foursome is anywhere between 2:30 and 2:45. It is a 6000 yard course from the tees we play (7612 from the tips) that winds its way through a housing development so there are some pretty good distances between greens and the following tees. We play ready golf but don't feel we rush ourselves as we take time to socialize, tell jokes, etc.

Best 18 as a walking single playing some 2ball from 6500 is 2:15.  Didn't feel fast, just a pace when nobody's ahead.

Went online at 6:45, booked a 7:30, teed off at 7:20, was done with 9 (2 balls) at 8:40, was back in the office before 9. 🤣

Nobody even knows I was gone. Claremont is only 15 minutes away. The old office was closer.

My natural pace at my home club (it's a longish 7200yds from the tips, though I play either the 6500yd tees or the 6300yd combo tees) is about 1:10 per 9. That's if I'm playing as a solo and using a cart, with nobody in front of me. I tend to play at odd times, and before Covid I usually played in that lull on a weekday afternoon when most people weren't playing. Now there really isn't much of a lull, and it's nearly impossible to find a time when the course is empty unless it's raining or freezing cold.

For me, golf is so much more fun when you can play at whatever pace is natural for you...not feeling held up if you're a little quicker or rushed if you're a little slower. This is largely unrealistic though.

I'm not into speed golf, but I also hate slow play with a passion.  A buddy and I are often off before the tee sheet starts in the summer on weekdays.  We stand on the first box and wait to be able to see the 150 marker.  Similar age and handicap.  We can turn a comfortable round in 2:20 to 2:30 in a cart.

Now a 1 pm slot on Sunday and Oh My Freaking Word...........5 hours minimum.  I'd rather have dental work.

One of the favorite rounds I’ve ever played played was 18 holes at my home course in 1:45 with just a 6 iron.

I’d just caddied for my dad in a tournament and they were headed up for dinner and trophy presentation but would have to wait, so I just grabbed a club out of the trunk and ripped around. Great fun. Just beat the sunset.

71 from the whites with just the 6. Wish I could still do that…somehow I’m better at everything but can’t score like that.
