I’ve always struggled with fairway woods…started playing a Callaway Epic 3 wood. Now playing an Epic 5 wood too. It will take a lot to get me to change right now.

Epic speed? Epic max?? Epic flash??? GBB Epic????

 

I picked up an Epic Max 5W this year and I absolutely love it. Easy to hit, flies high, and lands soft. I’ve never hit so many greens from 220-225 in 10 years combined as I have this year. I honestly hit more greens with this 5W than I do with 5i-7i. It doesn’t make sense. 
 

It’s so good I ordered an Epic Max strong 3w today to hopefully replace my OG SIM Ti 3W.

Two 3 woods I really, really like this year are the Epic Speed and the G425 LST.

 

But the one I’ve gone with is the TSi3. I know it’s supposed to be the less forgiving model, but I would still call it pretty forgiving. I have it with a GD AD DI 7S shaft and it’s a great pairing. I have the 16.5* and it just does everything I want it to.

 

That said, if Callaway made the Epic Speed 4 wood for lefties, I’d have gone with it and a Diamana BF 70 S instead. Love those fairway woods, and played that combination in a 5 wood for a while earlier in the year before the Apex UW kicked the 5 wood out of the bag. 
 

As for 5 woods, one of my favorites is the Cobra Radspeed Tour. It’s an awesome club if you need something workable off the tee, and it’s money from any lie. I swear those rails really do work. It has an interesting feel. And at 41.75” stock, it’s a bit shorter than most 5 woods. Has a lot in common with the Apex UW. Good stock shaft offerings with the Motore X F1 and F3 and the RDX Blue, which is the one I’d go with. They should be just about to go on sale, too.

I’m still stuck on my old trusty great big Bertha titanium warbirds.  They don’t have the thin springy faces like the new stuff, but they are so easy to hit off the deck. 
They sit a touch closed from the factory, but with a little massaging in the right spots they will sit square or open if you want.

(and they cost almost nothing these days)

I love those fairways, but eventually tired of them looking closed in. Would love to hear what can be done.

Tour Edge Exotics (TEE) has a history of producing some of the best fairway woods ever made that fit almost anyone IMO. They were expensive in their day, but prices have gone up so much with the other manufactures that they are similar now.

I keep going back to my Titleist 910f 3w and Taylormade Vsteel 5w even though i've bought and sold/given away every titleist fairway wood up to the TS/TSi lines. It just works for me.

My favorite has been cobra for the last 5 years.  Started with the FlyZ+ 3 & 5 wood. I’ve gamed the F9 Tour 3 & 5 wood for the last 2 seasons.  Looking at the Radspeed Tours next.

It’s been Titleist and Cobra for me for a long time.  It’s really hard for me to pull the ts3 15* out of the bag at the moment, but the tsi looks fantastic.  Cobra’s fairways look and feel awesome and have great performance.  Have to say though, I tried the ping 425 max earlier in the year and I was very impressed.  So easy to launch from the fairway and super hot off the face.

 

One of the biggest reasons why I tend to stay with Titleist is the shape does not change drastically from each release cycle.  Just a comfortable feel that I trust.

I enjoy my ping 17.5*, I'm not sure it's the best but I see no reason to change it.
