Favorite brand fairway woods

Looking to add a 5 wood and 7 wood to my bag just curious on what brand everyone likes looking at the ping G425 Max or even the title is TSI3s

Geez, since 2002 it's been Tour Edge or Callaway. (I did have a TM RBZ season in 2011 that did not go well).

 

Sequence of fairways:

• 2002 - Tour Edge Bazooka (green shaft and heads) 3W and 5W
• 2009 - Callaway X Tour 3W*
• 2011 - TaylorMade RBZ (green originals) 3W/HL and 7W
• 2012 - TE Exotics XRail 4W and 7W
• 2017 - Callaway Alpha 815 14* (set to 16*) and 18* (set to 20*)
• 2019 - Alphas, XRails mix and match, battle for bag space
• 2020 - Callaway Rogue 4W and 7W

 

*had assortment of 5Ws, hybrids and second-gen TM Raylor I tried for second fairway spot\

 

Note: I have liked several Cobra and Mizuno FW models, just never bought any.

I've played Cobra fairways for a couple years (F9, SZ, Radspeed) and really like them. Cobra tends to have a real crack like sound compared to the Titleist and Callaway woods I have hit. This year I tried out a TSi2 7w, based entirely on high praise for the TSi fairways and ability to adjust loft and lie, something the Cobra line lacks. Lofted down to 20.25* and it's been great. 

 

Epic Max is also solid as long as you don't mind the bonded hosel.

Most consistent I've played through the lines has been Titleist and TEE, thus what gets that spot in the bag.

Was going to say the same thing. Have a 17@16 and a 21@20.

I'll go with Mizuno.  I am very high on my STz 3-wood.  I wish they made a 5-wood.

I play the F9 5w at 18⁰ and it's my best club.

Replacing a long-time 915f 3w with the 14.5⁰ Speedzone. Fingers crossed.

You’re on the right track with the Ping G425. Their best fairways in years. Adjustability is key for a 7 wood and it offers loft and lie angle. 
 

That said, overall my favorite fairways would be Callaway, Cobra and Titleist. 
 

The shape of the Mavrik is not like the others with the curved front leading edge. Very easy to launch and the Mavrik Subzero fairway is also quite forgiving. I have that 5 wood and it’s a monster. 
 

Epic Flash and Titleist 915/917 are also great. I like the Titleists from 3-4 years ago better than the new ones. The 915 16.5 4 wood is super. Cobra F9 is almost idiot proof. The rails do work.

Ping, hard to beat the 425 series, especially if need them set to a flat lie.

I've been a Callaway FW fan for a long time, and had a Rogue 17* 4 wood in play for a few years now.

However, I recently picked up a TM Sim2 Max 3hl 16.5 ( It's a damn 4 wood! ) and am really liking it.

Played V Steels in the mid to late 2000's for about 5-6 years.

Titleist Tsi2 line up is great as well.

Cobra and Callaway have always had places in my bag, but I am looking hard at the Cleveland Halo line in 2022. Going to head up to PGA Superstore next month to try some out.

The G425 max had a bad feel/sound imo. I couldn’t get over it and I am a longtime G25 fairway wood player. I preferred the G410 just based on feel but still not enough to kick the G25 out. 
 

Ping woods have been the easiest to launch. 
 

Also, I have always found Titleist heads to feel better balanced than other brands. For me it made them easier to feel the face and hit straight consistently.

2010-2019 Taylor Made Tour Burner w/ GD P9003

2018-ish Taylor Made M1 trial w/ GD P9003

2020-2021 Taylor Made SIM (OG) w/ PX Hzrdus EvenFlow Black...and these may stay for 5+ years also. Crazy good.

Mizuno FWs have traditionally been highly, highly underrated. Haven't played any of the recent offerings, but still put my F-50 5w in play a few times a year. Still a wonderful club.

 

I've also traditionally been a fan of Callaway FWs - going all the way back to the Warbirds. I carry a 15* Diablo Edge Tour or a 13* Diablo Octane Tour (the Stenson Special) these days. They work wonderfully.

I’ve got Callaway (3+, 7W), Mizuno (5W) and Taylormade (9W) fairways and they are all excellent as long as you put a decent swing on them.

While I've had dalliances with all brands...I always come back to Titleist.

Titleist ever since the TS series was introduced. Their wood department has not only caught up but excelled in this category for TS and TSi release.

 

Prior to that I used Titleist anyway but didn't think they were that good and always flirted around with other brands.
