What you say Davis.... sounds like a great idea.  I for one would be down to watch the riveting action of Espen Kofstad and Louis De Jager battle for the win at Masters  🤣

Pardon my ignorance, but can team members get kicked out of their team for poor play?  And if so, what happens to them?

Easy there, we are making it up as we go.  Apparently there will also be future 'competition' to keep ones playing status.  Well, unless you're a captain, then it won't matter. Might be a case of a players league, with perceived say in policy, but only if you can hold your own.

So if this is true, we should see a lot of players jumping to LIV right after the Fedex Cup b/c the President's Cup is not as important as a team battle on LIV. Am I right ?

You literally had the captain of the upcoming Ryder Cup team willing/or certainly aware that he could lose his captaincy, go to LIV. To me that’s a pretty big statement.  Also the guy who just had a 5-0 record in the last RC, being the first to jump.  You have 4 of the best Euro players, albeit older leave, I don’t think it is as important to them as it is to fans.

I'd love a Masters boycott for the Chaos....LOL!

But if we know one thing about the Masters, they do not like being told what to do. They may continue with L I V exhibition players and a couple of amateurs....

Maybe, but Stenson was known to have lost a substantial sum of money in a Ponzi scheme run by Allen Stanford. Money or lack thereof does strange things to folks - look no further than Mickelson and his gambling record. I sincerely doubt Phil would've have joined LIV and suffered these repeated attacks on his legacy if he was financially stable.

DJ is the most puzzling of all of the defectors not only due to his record at Whistling Straits but he would've earned a lifetime membership on the PGA Tour at the end of 2022 season and could've played whenever he wanted. To me there has to be more to the story. I suspect he was none too happy with the "suspension" he received on the PGA Tour in 2014. Must be more under the covers on his decision ...

With the older Euros, I don 't think they thought it would come to them being eliminated from consideration for the 2023 Ryder Cup team. But none of them were even close to the top 12 at the time they defected so maybe it didn't matter.

I'm oldish at 47, and I likely watch more YT than anything else now.  I subscribe to a few dozen different channels, from golf content, cocktail making, coffee geeks, car reviews, vintage car tech stuff, cooking shows etc.  It is pretty common for me to have a handful of videos to watch each day.  I've had the YT app on our newer TV for a few years, so watching anything YT is no more different than watching CBS.

You can really tell that people bitching about LIV being on YT and not a real channel, are a bit behind the times.

And with respect to golf content on YT, some of the best content is when a couple different creators team up for some 18 hole match play.  Six holes on Finchy's channel, six on Fryers, six on Shiels.  Fun banter, talking thru shots, match play or scramble formats.  Actually having fun with golf, and often doing team events.  The idea that golf has to be 18 holes stroke play on a network channel with three talking heads in the booth baffles me.  That is some of the least interesting golf I'll watch during the week.

This definitely has a chance to be the "the internet is just a fad moment" for everyone mockingly dismissing this. I wouldn't be so quick to bury it for what it looks like right at this point in time either.  They have the ability to make quick meaningful changes to their product and the traditional tours just can't.  They're the equivalent of change course 180* in an aircraft carrier

what an absolutely dizzying amount of guesswork and speculation.

LIV Golf has an irrational business model?

Each LIV Golf Team is valued at $1B. Rumor Addidas and ATT interested in being the first to purchase a team:

https://www.golfmagic.com/liv-golf/rumour-adidas-golf-planning-buy-liv-golf-team-1-billion

A $2B investment might pay off quite well.

RUMOUR: LIV Golf "giving principal players 25% ownership in teams"

Latest LIV Golf rumour suggests why the Saudi-funded circuit is becoming even more appealing for PGA Tour players.

https://www.golfmagic.com/liv-golf/rumour-liv-golf-giving-principal-players-25-ownership-teams

No one will watch LIV Golf?

Ratings for the 3M Open Finals:  Age 25-54 109,503.

    https://tv.kwayisi.org/networks/golf/shows/pga-tour/

No one but old people are watching the PGA Tour.

Women's Golf will be set back 10 years?

Georgia Hall wins Aramco Saudi Ladies International

Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund.

https://ten-golf.com/en/news/georgia-hall-wins-aramco-saudi-ladies-international/

"Already entrenched in the Ladies European Tour, Golf Saudi currently backs six events — including the Aramco Team Series — which feature prize money that's three to four times a typical event on that tour, totaling $6 million."

The LPGA will take the call from LIV Golf

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/golf/2022/07/23/lpga-commissioner-mollie-marcoux-samaan-have-conversation-liv-golf/50514783/

Mollie Marcoux is a smart woman.

LIV Golf feels they are one year ahead of their plans.

"The rumours are true [that LIV Golf will transition into a proper league in 2023] - we've closed up shop, as far as our players are concerned," Norman told Australian Golf Digest.

"We're in the process of kicking the league off next year and we're a full year ahead of schedule."

https://www.golfmagic.com/liv-golf/greg-norman-liv-golf-rumours-are-true-top-40-player-agents-still-calling-him

Golf is changing. LIV Golf seems to think the PGA Tour has vastly undersold golf as a sport and has not capitalized of the real popularity available. They rode the Tiger Woods train for years but never thought it out for themselves. People tried to help them but they never wanted to listen.  It might have been a critical error in judgement.

That’s all valued Based on what ?

Unfortunately, DJ just isn't the guy who is smart.

I tried to rephrase it many times but at the end of the day DJ will never be the face of any tour.  Good for him to take money now because he was washed up 5 years ago.

I disagree that he is washed up. He's one of the few to leave that I think had something left in the tank.

Of course, it might be a self fulfilling prophecy. Now that he's got a cushy $125M in the bank, maybe his internal fire is going to go out.
