Does anyone mismatch wedges or is it just me?

Slowly getting to a unified set of wedges but got me wondering. Does anyone play with different branded wedges at the same time?

Yes, I play the wedge which works best for me, not the brand...

I would but rarely do, i usually try to get a 56 and 60 that look alike at address and in head shape.

 

In the past when i used i high toe lob wedge like the Ping Eye2 i would use a traditional 56

 

My 54 and 60 degree PXGs look a lot alike so i think that is a good thing

I select which wedge comes out of the penalty box by how it matches the course. Deep rough I bring high bounce 52 and low bounce 55 . Elevated greens I put in the low bounce 58, soft traps get a high bounce 56 etc.

My current wedge setup is mismatched, there are lots of pros that do it as well. Play what works best not all 1 brand.

Mine are all different brands. The builds and shafts flow and sync up.

At one point I had a Cleveland gw, a Vokey sw, and a TM lw. I thought I wanted different attributes for each spot, but I realized two things - one, I’m not good enough to take advantage of the differences, and two, the stability or feel of the Vokey was the most important trait out of all of them to me, so I ended up going with one builder.

I agree with this completely. I have played mismatched wedges most of my life but the shafts match and weights progress. 
 

I don’t think I’ve ever found 3 matching wedges that all work for me.

In case you're wondering CDO is just like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order like they should be.

I never had matching wedge sets until the Miuras.  The only things I care about is feel and numbers when it comes to wedges.

That would drive me crazy, my current wedges have different grips and even that winds me up

This is me too.  The garage has a bevy of wedges that I'll pick and chose to match the course and conditions.  I've got Pings, Mizunos, Cally, and Hogan wedges.  Each are slightly different in bounce and grind.  I want to score as low as possible with absolutely no regard to what my bag looks like.

I've done it, and I'd do it again if the right wedge presented it self.

My '19 PM grind 58* isn't going anywhere for a few years, now that I have a brand new back up.

The 54* spot may change at some point. 

At 60 years old, I don't think I'll be changing a lot in the future, even playing a lot.

I use a Muzuno Gap wedge, Ping 56 and Taylormade 60. Choices based more on bounce and performance than brand.

I'm older than 60 and playing more now than ever.  Never give up.  My dream is that the coroner will haul my old carcass off the golf course when the time comes.  Or they can just leave me there as fertilizer.

I play whatever works best. Had mismatched wedges last year trying Vega 52 and 56 wedges this year.

Ha the idea of a mismatched wedge set scares me. Strayed from vokey 1 year and came immediately back. Probably more in my head than anything.

I think next time, I would just stick to one brand though... It's difficult trying to match shafts and grips for different brands.

Mismatched for me. Wilson Staff don't make a 60 that I like.

Recently went to a Cleveland Full Face 58 RTX, along with a 52 Vokey SM7 I have had a while. (PW, a TCB  is 47, goes with the irons).  On the 58, I have a standard size grip with 2 wraps, All other clubs are Midsize with 3 wraps on the lower half.  I like the smaller grip around the green and never swing the 58 hard enough that the smaller grip bothers me on full shots.

 

I did play both wedges the same (Vokeys) for years.

I have no problem carrying wedges manufactured by different companies. I may have a Bridgestone, Fourteen, Ping, Cleveland, Taylormade, Vokey, Mizuno, etc randomly in the bag at any given time.  Play what you feel comfortable with.  Sets that completely match are over-rated!

 Oh, I'll still be playing a lot, just don't thing I'll be running through wedges as often as I used to.

Retiring this year = more golf.

I think it's best to have all the wedges the same brand for consistency of feel.

If you're a mechanic the matched set would tend to work best. A mechanic uses a Pelz-style matrix in which three or four wedge lofts match with varied set backswing length to control distance.

 

If you're a feeler, and use sense of tempo to control distance, the mixed bag might work OK.

I sometimes mix brands, but I always mix finishes.
 

Right now I have an RTX4 54* in chrome and a raw RTX 58*. The grips are the same model but different colors. 
 

I don’t ever want to have any doubt which club is in my hands!
