Are you addicted to one brand of clubs?

I've got a real soft spot for anything Adams. My first "real" set of clubs I got in 2019 were the V3 Hybrid iron/Hybrid set and I absolutely loved them to bits.

Now I've got a set of CB1's, CB2's, XTD Tour's, and another incomplete set of graphite V3's that my dad uses.

I'm always perusing classifieds and ebay for any Adams gear that jumps out at me.

On the hunt now for either Pro Black MB's, MB2's, or some CMB's.

I found an almost full set of 2015 idea hybrids/iron set for a really good price, I just know that they aren't clubs I would play anymore, but damned if I don't want them just to add to the collection and have another nice set of hybrids for my dad to play.

•  1:      Mizuno ST190 9.5' / FujiKura Atmos Blue / Midsize Super Stroke grip

•  3:     Adams TightLies Titanium 3+ 13.5' / Bassara E55 / Mid Champkey X-Rubber (Golf Pride Z-grip replica)

•  5:     Adams Super Hybrid 19' / Matrix Ozik / Mid Champkey X-Rubber

• ╘ :     Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 4-GW/ Dynamic Gold S300 / Mid Champkey X-Rubber

• 56º:  Cleveland RTX 4.0 10/Mid / Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 / Mid Golf Pride CP2 Pro *only "brand new" club I've ever owned*

• 61º:   TaylorMade Tour 61' with Copper Insert Face / No clue on the shaft but it's step-less / Reg Golf Pride CP2 Pro (2 layers of tape)

• $$:    Odyssey 2-Ball Fang Tank / Cut down shaft / Yamato 3.0 grip

I pretty much will buy whatever looks good and performs well. I tend to stay away from some brands opposed to gravitating towards others.

I'm not particularly loyal to any particular brand. I just hit a bunch of clubs at the shop and see what feels/works best.

It's not my fault that they all turned out to be Mizuno.

Cleveland all of the way. I would get the older CLK 4 hybrid if Mizuno would just lower the price from $250! Maybe I'll ask my pro shop about it.

Other than that I might consider trying Titleist down the road.

Way back when I would but anything left handed that had the name Yonex on it. Now its definitely more performance based than brand loyalty. Some brands tend to have a shape I prefer more than others (Ping drivers, Vokey Wedges), but if something catches the eye and holds up performance wise I could care less what brand it is.

Until Titleist or TM starts cutting me some checks I’m an equipment free agent!!

Titleist gets first dibs for testing, but ultimately it has to work. It's as simple as I've liked their logo since I was a kid 🙂

The brand is a tie breaker at best.

  • Cobra SpeedZone 3-wood @ 13.5 degrees - Tensei AV Blue 65
  • Nike VR Pro II 3 iron - Dynamic Gold S300
  • 4-pw Titleist 718 MB - Dynamic Gold S300
  • 50, 54, 60 Vokey SM8 - Std wedge flex
  • Odyssey Stroke Labs Double Wide
  • Ball: Bridgestone Tour B XS

Always had a pretty mixed bag. But irons have been mizuno for the last 15 years. Now Last year my bag expanded to mizuno wedges and putter. With ping driver and woods. Slowly mizuno is taking over my bag. This year got an STZ220 driver and a Pro FliHi to try out and maybe add.

mizuno has stepped up the game with all of the clubs. They are experiencing some supply issues which a lot of companies are this day of age

I think I’d be considered brand agnostic.
I play a Ping G410 LST driver

Srixon ZX 3 wood

Cobra 3 and 4 hybrids

Srixon ZX5 5-PW

Ping Glide 3.0 50/54/58

Scotty Cameron X5.5 putter

I tested club after club to land on this bag too. 5 different sets of irons. 4 different 3 woods. 3 sets of wedges. 4 different drivers. 2 different hybrids. 2 putters. All in the last 12-18 months…

I'm brand agnostic especially these days with how good equipment is today you need to try it all to find the best for you. Right now I have 5 different brands in my bag so no loyalty and I'm not opposed to changing again if I find something better.

But there are also brands I respect, being a lefty it's hard so companies like Ping, Titleist (Not Scotty Cameron) and Callaway. I'll look to them first for options but could be a brand that makes 1 LH option that works perfect for me.

Honestly I probably have more brand loyalty with apparel companies. Being a big dude it's hard to find comfortable golf clothes that fit well or at all.

I was, and maybe still am, very much a Callaway guy. I've been using Callaway equipment exclusively (until recently) for at least the last 13-14 years as it just works for me. Recently, I purchased a PXG 0811 Proto driver and the 0211DC irons. I've already gone back to my Callaway Epic Flash driver, and I've been going back and forth between the 0211s and my Apex CF19s. The jury is still out there.

Not brand addicted, but want all irons and wedges to have Aerotech shafts with golfpride grips.  The heads can be anything that looks and feels good.  All the oems now seem to be producing great clubs.

I do like Odyssey/Toulon #7 putters....but PXG, Mizuno, Titleist, Sub70, etc....seem to be making nice fang mallets too which I could bag

When I first started playing golf, I felt it was easier to focus on one brand rather than learn the intricacies of multiple brands.  Consequently, I tended to play just one brand.  Easier to get everything from one OEM rather than multiple.

As my golf IQ improved or became more diversified, I found that the woods from OEM A may not be as good as their driver, so I would look at club segments (driver, woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putters) from all the brands rather than focusing on just one brand.

The amount of technical information available from various sources also makes it much easier to determine which club segment is most suitable to your needs.

It's not an addiction, but I *do* have a thing for Ram clubs.  The old Ram, not the present edition of the brand.  I could happily play a full bag of Ram clubs.

In the modern world, not so much.  I dabble in a few brands, but don't have any extra affinity for them.

The Ever Changing Bag!  A lot of mixing and matching
Driver: TM 300 Mini 11.5*, 43.5", Phenom NL 60X -or- Cobra SpeedZone, ProtoPype 80S, 43.5"

Fwy woods: King LTD 3/4, RIP Beta 90X -or- TM Sim2 Ti 3w, NV105 X
Hybrid:  Cobra King Tec 2h, MMT 80 S

Irons grab bag:  1-PW Golden Ram TW276, NV105 S; 1-PW Golden Ram TW282, RIP Tour 115 R; 2-PW Golden Ram Vibration Matched, NS Pro 950WF S
Wedges:  Dynacraft Dual Millled 52*, SteelFiber i125 S -or- Scratch 8620 DD 53*, SteelFiber i125 S; Cobra Snakebite 56* -or- Wilson Staff PMP 58*, Dynamic S -or- Ram TW282 SW -or- Ram TW276 SW
Putter:  Snake Eyes Viper Tour Sv1, 34" -or- Cleveland Huntington Beach #1, 34.5" -or- Golden Ram TW Custom, 34" -or- Rife Bimini, 34" -or- Maxfli TM-2, 35"
Balls: Chrome Soft, Kirkland Signature 3pc (v3)

Grip preference: various GripMaster leather options, Best Grips Microperfs, or Star Grip Sidewinders of assorted colors

Funny enough I just built an all TM bag last night.  Have never had a whole bag from 1x oem.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.
Treat people the way you want to be treated

I dabble, but Titleist and Mizuno are my go-to brands.

I have never really liked Callaway or Cobra clubs, and I really dislike TaylorMade as a company, even though some of their stuff is great. Ping gets my attention from time to time but they've been a mess lately.

I have a bunch of different brands currently in the bag: Callaway, Titleist, Ping, Mizuno, Bettinardi, a Snell ball.

But Mizuno irons are where my loyalty lies. For starters, they always just seem to work for me. I don’t even need to be fit at this point: Order ‘em 1 degree upright, my usual PX LZ shafts, and I’m going to like them. There’s also a personal, emotional connection: a now-deceased family member loved Mizuno irons and turned me on to them. My irons sometimes make me think of him fondly.

Doesn’t mean I’d never play anything else. P7MCs and T100s are awesome irons too that I could easily put in the bag. But I’m happy with my Mizunos.

I also am pretty loyal to Bettinardi putters, since they’re just about 30 minutes from where I live. However, I also look at Odyssey stuff a lot. When I was growing up, paying like $200 a year for a junior, weekday-only membership at a cheap local course, Odyssey putters and Big Bertha drivers were the new things that the cool guys there had. I always wanted one but couldn’t afford to replace my Wilson putter that I’d bought for like $19.99. Obviously the industry has changed a lot, but they’re still cool as far as I’m concerned.

Looking in the bag from last round.

Ping G400 driver.

Taylor made m6 Fairway woods.

Titleist T300 5-9 irons

Yonex ADX  PW

Cleveland RTX gap and sand irons.

(One satin, one raw)

Vokey lob wedge.

Mizuno putter

5 brands if you want to count the Vokey as a Titleist. No mindless brand loyalty in my bag.... but at one time my bag was all Yonex but for the putter. In the 70's it was 100% MacGregor.

Titleist and Callaway are tops.  I like Ping and Srixon also.  Just can’t find it in my heart to use Taylormade or Cobra.  Tried both and they just don’t stay in the bag very long.

With regards to irons I've played PING since 1986. Prior to that I had my first set, used Northwesterns, and my first set of new clubs. Powerbuilt Citations. Since then I've played Eye2, Zing2, O size eye3, s59s and i20s. I decided it was time for new irons. My plan was to try a new brand. Callaway was the leader. I had been intrigued by the Apex line since it first came out. I went to Club Champion and I tested Srixon ZX5, ZX7, Apex 21, G425 and the new i525. As much as I wanted the Apex to be the ones the two PING models being the winners and the i525 were the final choice. Given my history of buying new clubs and I figure I have one maybe two sets left in my life. It sure looks like I'm going to be a PING lifer.
