Cleveland launchers are crazy forgiving and easy launching, 98% of the golfers I see on the course should be using them.

Cleveland is the forgiveness company, everything they make is really forgiving.

Oh, and btw, the launchers even come in an accuracy build now, for even greater control.

PING G410/425 would definitely qualify as forgiving.  Had a set of T300’s (newer model) and didn’t care for them.  Distance was very inconsistent, traded them for a set of PING G410 irons and while the feel is not super the results (including distance control) are outstanding.

or….

Get a set of Big Bertha 2002 irons, amazingly easy set to hit.  Usually play them in the winter when I don’t practice (probably won’t have to now with the PINGs).

Many a round has been finished with a few too many adult beverages during and afterwards and I've had the same thoughts. I however decided to waste all the money for you. So in no particular order here goes:

T300, JPX921 HM (NON PRO), 0311XF, G400,425 (NO FAN OF 410), G710.

This is where the bullets come flyin in from the WRX crowd. If you're a hack you do not need to play:

P790, ZX5, 0311P, T200, Apex (even the DCB), 921 Forged or HMP, HMB, 225.

There are likely a couple I missed in the "Should Play" section and there are numerous I left out of the "Shouldn't Play" that will get mentions here. Also, be ready for all the shovel comments and how too much offset leads to a left miss (buLL$hit). Oh, and you don't need lessons you need cooler equipment.

Most forgiving is a bit of a cop out becuse we dont know the type of forgivness you are looking for. What type of miss are you trying to eliminate? If you dont have a problem squaring the face then you probably dont want a ton of offset that some of the GI sets have. If you thin the ball then having the high bounce of a hybrid set probably wont suit you. There isnt a "most forgiving iron" that covers all golf swings, but there are certain irons that are more forgiving for certain misses.

I can’t hit big super GI irons. Never could I prefer the smaller heads and make better contact more consistent with them. The most forgiving iron is the one that fits you the best. There is more to it then wide soles and a large sweet spot.

This. For some reason I get better contact and numbers with irons that are not "most forgiving". and I suck hard as a golfer. Just tested new players distance irons from brand X (don't want to derail the discussion) and hit them a lot better than GI irons from the same brand. Plus the feel of the strike is so much better. I've always played GI or SGI irons and I keep getting better results when trying my friends clubs that are categorized as more difficult. I would say, try as many different types as you can instead (or before) of going for the most forgiving. Different clubs work for different people and what works for someone else may not work for you at all.

Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo. This should be the number one answer, hands down.

The similar offerings from Wilson, Cobra, Tour Edge and others are probably good. I recommend Cleveland because I have them. If I didn't like them I wouldn't have them. 😉

Lessons are a must for a beginner, but there's no reason to make the game harder by using clubs that aren't user friendly. I've been playing for 50 years, so I could certainly use blades if I wanted to. I don't want to.
