“Walking around here today, there’s not one person who said to me, ‘Why did you do LIV?’ ” he said in a brief interview on the course. “There’s been hundreds of people, even security guys, stopping me, saying, ‘Hey, what you’re doing is fantastic.’ To me, that tells you that what we have and the platform fits within the ecosystem, and it’s good for the game of golf.”

Hundreds? Why not thousands if you're going to make up stuff. 🤣

I fully believe that statement

Do the math there are 1000's of people that attend the practice round(s) and if a few hundred did say that to him, what we talking like 2-3% of the patrons?

So pretty similar to US viewership or attendance at LIV events.   🤣

You guys tried this nonsense last year and it backfired

Need some new material

LIV isnt a closed league? 60% of the players arent washed up never were? LIV players are based on current ability? What was true last year is true today. Enlight us with your new knowledge

Not related but some what.

Did anyone else see what McGinley / BC discussed about getting into the Masters last night?  4 events around the world, win and you qualify for all 4 majors.

I thought that was a great concept.   That would draw all top players that are not already qualified.  Sure probably wont happen but if the events are established events, outside the US then it would be huge draw to the "grow the game".

You win one event that year / next year and you are in all 4 following majors?  Pretty much every player PGAT/LIV/ETC would try if they are not already in.  *Given how many players would try they would have to have some qualifiers or something, which could also be done in other regions to draw attention back to the game.

I always watch the top AUS events. Amazing courses they play on....!  Would be great to see that come back to what it was.  I think McGinley also noted the French Open, maybe an event in Japan and one in South America.

It sure seemed like one way to grow game in other regions of the world.

I agree - you'd get some really good fields for those events. See Niemann et al. playing the Australian Open and other events to try and get an invite.

Some dude drove by blasting tunes from his car while I'm watching the Masters and I thought "whoa, the LIV guys got some tunes!"

Then it made me think, what if Greg was out there following his guys like:

say anything GIF

Until the green jackets chased him away!

🤣

SVP has mentioned several times during Sportscenter pop-ins that the only people talking about LIV or asking about LIV are the press.  Players from both sides are interacting like normal, played practice rounds together, chit-chat during range sessions etc.  90% of the feud is filled by Golf journos wanting the clicks.

During the last couple of years, many players have continued their weekly matches at home courses.  During a Rick Shiels breaking 75 video last year, he got to play at a course in Florida a bunch of guys are members at.  He was getting heckled on a tee box by some guys 50 feet away on an adjacent green.  It was Rickie, Brooks, Gary etc. all playing their usual weekly friendly matches.

Scott has a house near me and I have seen him out & about with a couple of LIV guys

They’ve been friends for years so hardly earth shattering

Whoever sold that ticket to him might have some difficulty in attending the Masters again for the foreseeable future.

Also, the idea that he didn't hear a single negative comment doesn't exactly ring as an endorsement of LIV by the masses. For example, as vocal as I am against LIV, if I saw Greg at Augusta I wouldn't say a word to him. Not because I'm scared of voicing my opinion to his face, but because I'm not going to engage with someone I don't know and who doesn't know me with my opinion when I'm trying to enjoy a day at the Masters.

Not the first time Greg has told an untruth to prop LIV up

To the LIV fans in here: you gotta admit that Norman following Rory around at the Masters is pretty weird behaviour, no?

Azinger on LIV and the PGA after leaving NBC.

Quote

Why is Azinger in retrospect “happy it ended?” Well, that opened up another can of worms. Add Azinger to the list of former greats who isn’t pleased with the state of professional golf and what money has done to scatter players to PGA Tour and LIV camps.

“The best players aren’t all playing PGA Tour tournaments. That’s over. Suddenly, the LIV Tour, let’s just say it like this: the PGA Tour has fast become the qualifier for LIV and it’s a sad day for golf,” Azinger says. “Yeah, I’ve watched a little bit and I’m not I’m not missing it that much. I’m not missing it at all.”

I think you mis interpreted the tweet about this.  Norman tried to get a ticket through "professional channels".  This means he probably tried as a former tour member or maybe as CEO of liv tour.  I get free tickets every year as a PGA member, as long as my membership is active.  Not sure what rule is for former tour player.  Nobody is on trouble for selling him a ticket, the idea that he is banned or something is ludicrous.

They should be playing golf throughout the galaxy and beyond, with The Open truly being an open championship, not arguing spiritually poor over money and domination.

What they should create:

Joint order of merit with all the tours included in OWGR plus LIV

Eight levels of tournament with double the points for every level, so 128x the points for a major victory compared to the lowest satellite tournament tier, basically close to the OWGR formula.

LIV could have an extra shotgun two-ball start the first two days and add 36 players to the field.

30 from the OWGR ranking, a couple of Monday qualifiers plus the winners from the previous week.

Cut for the final day.

They could draft any extra players for the team comp.

LIV should then move away from the closed shop system.

If they truly cared about the game, countries such as Australia, Ireland, Japan, South Africa and others would have great championships and top level tournaments.

Why not also have a Monday match series or a golf cup over the whole year with 128 players, a la "wonderful world of golf" on top courses such as Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, St Andrews, Valderrama, Royal County Down, Hirono, etc

With the PIF trying to get into big-time tennis, will that have any effect on their golf investments?

This is too funny... Boom Boom offers Sharky a ticket to next year's event but also questions why the 13 LIV players that are in the event didn't have one to give him.

What's sad is that a large number of LIV fans actually think that Greg had to purchase a ticket. Players in the field have access to tickets. Just a blatant effort to promote the Saudi League.

Bryson's last 9 was painful, he's likely out of it

Scottie is world #1 and the favorite , because he keeps his head in the game at all time. The putting is a concern sure but he saved himself with that eagle yesterday. Great round from Kirk, wish he was higher up. I'd love for Morikawa to win. Ether way may the best man win, its gonna be a better Sunday than last 2 season imo.
