Ping G430 Woods/Hybrids

I've long moved past caring what the bottom of drivers look like (or the ugly headcovers since I never use them).

What matters is the at address pictures and the "sound" (that has been my biggest disappointment with Ping for a while now).

Hasn’t much changed to me in the address position in awhile with PING , least not to me. 425 is a tad loud but no worse than in the past generations to me.

Bottom is a bit busy and "tech" looking. Not horrible, but not great. Address and sound are more important as someone mentioned.

I would think by now Ping would take the Tesla and Titleist design philosophy of less is more, removing unnecessary parts and design complexity. But they're the engineers, not me, so I'm sure they maximize their club performance with each generation.

The head looks to be an MOI beast, and the tungsten weight at the back appears to be smaller than that of the G425.

Maybe this is the LST head, but I don't see any "lst" markings.

Tungsten weights do not look smaller to me...just differently shaped.  In the early photo of the G430 (the one that looks badly edited or photoshopped), you can see the tungsten weights have "wings" on the sides (not sure what other word to use...the weights have tiny flanges that stick out from the biggest part of the weight).  The g425 weights did not have these.  I think it's just a way to slide the weight even more to the extreme heel/toe on the back of the club  (the weight track has recessed ends for the "wings" to slide into, meaning the largest part of the Tungsten weight will sit flush with the edge of the weight track.   This is just my take from seeing the two photos (the early one and this one).  From what I have been told, the weights from the g425 will fit in the G430  (time will tell if they will "fit" but not sit perfectly).

Interested to put my 410 LST up against 430 and TSR.

The 410 is the best driver I’ve owned. Such an accurate head for me and while not the fastest ball speed due to the weight of the head, is up there. Expecting TSR will be faster but the trade off, if any, on dispersion will be interesting to see.

Ping G430 Driver looks like a Cobra RadSpeed.  Hopefully the LST Version will have different coloring.

There is also a video on this guy's story of Sam hitting the driver and you can hear it... It's definitely an improvement on sound.

So, Ping is going back to the Rapture Woods.  Good move.  The Rapture drivers and woods were great.

On Thursday A shop I do some work for saw the demo’s from the Ping rep. The LST is the model that has carbon. The Max is all titanium. The rep said they only went carbon on the LST due that they slightly reduced the size (volume) of that driver. The Max has improved sound and feel. That will be the difference from the G425. They also saw the G430 irons and they said they are a cleaner look but very similar to prior versions.

I honestly don’t know how this makes me feel… I want Carbon for better acoustics but I really don’t like the two tone look on the posted pics (presumably of the LST).

I will definitely be trying this when possible because I have a ton of respect for Ping. That being said, I have to say this looks pretty ugly. Hopefully it looks better in person. Regardless, if it performs it’ll be in my bag.

I am a huge Ping fan. Looking at this release, IT BETTER PERFORM. To me it looks terrible.  I don’t think they could’ve made it less attractive. My gut tells me the performance will be the same as the last 2 releases. I’m just not feeling it….

The G series irons… they won't mess with them. They'll probably have a little yellow streak and different font on the sole numbers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This pretty well sums up my feelings too. I can’t say anything has really been leaps and bounds better than anything else over the past several years. Although I like trying new stuff, the fun of it is wearing off on me a bit. Maybe this is because I’m approaching 40 😁.  I’m getting tired of hearing and seeing all the same marketing crap. Reality is, everything is good but nothing is magic.
