2024 Bag Is Set Challenge (BISC) Thread!!!

I’ve never entered because I’ve never wanted to win, but this year will be different. A long battle with pneumonia last spring turned me on to some new clubs that I’m really happy with. 
 

Driver- TEE C721 w/HZRDUS Red RDX

Fwy- Cleveland Launcher XL w/Attas Elements 

4 Hy- Ping G410 w/Tensei blue

6 Hy- Ping G425 w/Tensei orange

7-Gap- Maltby TS3 w/Xcaliber Rapid Tapers

Concerns- the wedges, but I’ve been using them for years and I know them well. 
 

Prediction- I’ve never made it past April, but as I get older I’m realizing that changing out clubs really is hurting my game, so I think I can do it!

I'm wondering how long i can make it with my all-titleist bag. I'm really happy with it right now. The biggest threat is probably Serge making another putter

Which one allows you to do what you most often need the club to do? Is it different that the one that allows you to do that one thing once or twice, but has worse overall results?

I survived round 1. Should have broken 80 with ease on a very tough track but left 5-6 putts short in the heart. I’ll take an 82 when it’s 4 Celsius and the greens are velcro. 
 

I’m pretty confident the bag will remain for some time. I played 2 rounds with the DS72 to get the itch to switch out of my head and missed a lot of putts. Put the spider back in today and hit my line pretty much every time. The only club now that has been thinking is the TSi3 hybrid. 7 woods seem to be all the craze

First time I've officially got in on the BISC, but I've been following the carnage for a few cycles, haha. I'll throw my hat in the ring since I haven't touched anything since I played a few days ago.

 

Driver - Ping G430 LST 9* w/ Hulk HZRDUS TX shaft

 

3W - Callaway Paradym TD 15* w/ Tensei AV Series 75X

 

Irons - Callaway Rogue ST Pro 3i; Ping i210 4-W all w/ C-Taper 130x

Putter - Black PLD Anser D 34" (never leaving my bag, btw)

 

Causes for concern - I've never completed this challenge... I don't think I've been close. This year might be my best chance! I've been considering new wedges, but I'm not displeased with my current setup... just antsy to tinker. 

 

Prediction - I've tried to replace my irons and my driver so many times, but I keep going back to Ping. New wedges may be on the horizon this spring, but if not, I've got a real shot (I'm probably kidding myself)!!

This may be my strongest bid yet to last a full season with no changes.  Love the Srixon driving iron that I added in the fall.  My only cause for concern might be the 3 wood spot but I am hopeful the G425 treats me well this year...

I suppose I could use some clarification from the committee. I have a Sunday bag that I throw a few clubs in to try and force myself to be more mindful when I practice. Since that is probably going to be what I start my year with, then switch over to a full bag when I play actual rounds, would I then be out when I start my first round?

Played with my listed bag for the first round of the year. But I really wanted to hit the new driver. So I took it to the range with me when I went to warm up and hit it a few times. Then put it back in the pickup.

Prediction 

 

Idk. I've changed more than 1 thing every year for the last 5 or 6. But I'm bound to not change putters since changing them has proven to be a detriment. I just got the s2+ 2 months ago so there's no need for new there.

 

But a new batch of OEM 3ws are coming...

I'm not going to make it, for 2 reasons...

 

Driver - when I posted my original "in" post, I was playing stealth2+and was working to sell a std paradym driver. I ended up keeping the paradym and it's really good. Paradym higher launch. Stealth2+ slightly faster. It's very possible I'll use stealth2+ on windy days (lower flight) and paradym all.other days. I could end up sticking with stealth2+...idk. But driver is not settled. 

 

3w...paradym 3hl has been in the bag for a few months. 1 bad thing out of it...it goes left every now and then. Bought a 2nd vblack 7x and the aerojet 3w is getting shafted up for a head to head. I haven't played paradym at -1 with lead tape further back than where I had it. I tested that setup before moving the lead tape more forward and it showed promise. So now I have more 3w testing to do. 

 

So, nothing new to he bought, but bag is not settled for stuff I have....oh well.

Causes for concern: I've never played the same putter consecutively for more than 3 months, so thinking I'm going to make it a whole year? Big ask. 

Also, I just put the 46* Ping in the bag, and could easily see myself going back to my Srixon set pitching wedge. 

And my driving iron is really, really cheap. So, if I really like it, I'm sure I will want something "higher quality."

 

Prediction: I make it till February before the itch comes back. Putter is always going to be the first casualty if I stay true to myself.

I've decided to order some custom bags this year just so i can satiate my need to order golf stuff and stay in this competition for as long as possible

 

We can change actual golf bags right? This is just clubs?

 

Also there's no rule against cheating on wives right? This is just sticking with the same golf stuff?

Concerns: That 4W slot has been a rotating disaster. I already have a m5 and 19* Apex UW that I will test later this winter. I'm on again off again with the ventus blue vs. ad tp in the driver. I'm also not in love with the smoke black shaft in the UW but I want to play a bit more before swapping in something pricier.

 

Prediction: Despite my ho-ish tendencies 13 of these clubs will remain unchanged this year. I think the 4W will come down to what the gapping is like between the UW 19* and the UW 21*. If it's 15-20 yards then I could see making a switch otherwise I'll stick with the old battleaxe.

My goal this year is to not buy any clubs (said that last year too, and I failed), but I have another minimal bag with a Wishon Driver, Sub70 7W, Maltby DBM 5/7/9, Haywood wedges, and a Sub70 putter that I like to take out from time to time.  Does it count if I have two bags that are set?

 

I switched my irons from s300's to PX LZ 6.0 a few weeks ago.  If the bag doesn't stay set, that will probably be the reason.

subbed out big - 5w for little plus 3

went back to max head from lst 

new 60* LW as well
