Any confidence I had earlier is gone, I've changed 3 more clubs in the past two weeks.  I like where everything settled and there isnt any more time to tinker before the holidays so the bag is set.

Made it until April before breaking up the bag setup in 2023, we’ll see how it goes in 2024. WITB in signature is current with the most at-risk spots in the bag being gap wedge and possibly a different 3W shaft (and if the putter goes into timeout, of course):

I'm getting very close to having my bag set for next year, I'd like to get at least one more testing session in, but with the holidays coming up, my back acting up, it'll be tough. I do have a setup in mind though.

The other thing that would put my chances in danger is if I get a good deal on a driver I really want to try out like the E723 driver, but it'd have to be a heck of a deal at the right time.

After attempting the last few years, I will just throw the towel in early this go around.  Last year was my best attempt with changing only a driver shaft, mini-driver shaft, and putter shaft.  Below will be set for the majority of my rounds in 2024.

I’m gonna make a real effort at this this year. I have three putters that I am swing weight matching, matching grips, etc to try and determine which one gets the nod come the 1st. Gonna wait to post my bag till the putter competition is over though. 
 

Right now I’m at 13 clubs. Not sure if I will be able to get 14 in the bag before the first of the year though so I could be an early out lol.

Didn't make is very far last year as I had too much Pro Shop Credit 

Already planning to update my irons in 2024 so I will not be participating 

Unless we go from the day of my iron purchase

I was going to get an AreoJet but after seeing the spy picks of the DarkSpeed, that is on hold.

After that I don't plan to update anything else in the bag.

I am ready for attempt number 2 at this, 2023 saw my driver shaft break early in the year and then I managed to cycle through 4 sets of irons along with just about everything else.

 

2024 bag will be:

Titleist 905R - NS Pro 850 FW steel shaft , making it's triumphant return after the YS6 graphite shattered last year. Haven't hit it with the new shaft yet but a similar shaft works great in the 3 wood

Wilson Staff  Dynapwr 3 wood NS Pro 950 FW steel shaft, had a great 9 holes with it the other day with the new shaft

Louisville Golf Persimmon Niblick 5 wood(21 degree) NS Pro 950 FW steel shaft , very easy to hit. Loft of a modern 7 wood

Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3 iron NS Pro 950 shaft - bought this for a fraction of eBay price off Facebook market last week...waiting on new shaft to arrive this week.

I think adding the Eye 2 lob wedge is the most likely change to the bag with a 3iron or 5 wood departing, that or my Wilson Staff 21 degree utility iron replacing the Vapor Pro Combo 3 iron. For right now the VP Combo has better dispersion as a par 3 tee club..worse distance off the deck and tee but better dispersion so far

There's a little turmoil in the bag... just ditched this year's driver (PXG 0311) and went back to old faithful (TM M6). I'm planning to trade-in or sell the PXG and a few other clubs that I'd be tempted to put back in the bag, and make those magically turn into a Rapsodo MLM2Pro or Swing Caddie SC4.

 

"Better practice, no club changes" is my motto for 2024.

Causes for concern

The long, counterbalanced putter shaft is a new experiment. I could see myself trying something on a whim by Spring. Also my wedges have some wear. 
Prediction 

I make it through April without any changes, and then change putter shaft and wedges within a week of each other. Something unexpected always happens too.

I know, it feels like everyone posting they're out already don't realize it's still 2023. Honestly once I settle on my bag I feel confident I can make it a long time, the upside of car repair bills and such is not having much money for clubs lol.

Causes for concern

Hybrid - I've had a complex relationship with this one. Every time I read about the Callaway Apex UW I get an itch ...

Wedges -  Haven't quite ever been happy with my wedge setup and both the 54 and 58 are old and beat up. Please don't mock me, but the Kirkland wedge set from Costco is calling.... I'm so ashamed .... 😂
 

Prediction 

Aside the causes for concern, I love my bag and you'll have to pry the driver, 3W, irons and putter from my cold, dead hands. At the very least I'll make it till mid-summer. I have a 10 year service award coming then from my employer that includes a gift card worth a couple of hundred dollars. That's when I'll be at the greatest risk ...

bought another fwy wood yesterday, OG Rapture 5w, minty shape, used to love that thing

came with a Fuji 80x, half price, couldn’t resist

 

oh, and the daughters boyfriend has asked when we fly back south on Dec 30, to bring his clubs, uncle Cardy thought of this situation and realized he could bring an extra driver and 4 more of his shafts down 

 

the ‘16m2, HZRDUS green tx, rip 50x and two old PX tour issue shafts are going on Spring Break
