Saw and hit the 760s this weekend.

They look great...feel great...demo vs my 770s and 790s

Will be getting a set for sure.

How did the 8-PW feel compared to the 770s? I’m gaming 790s 3-PW and was thinking about getting the 770s 7 or 8-PW, but I’m gonna wait now to hit the 760s before I pull the trigger.

Really strange, jacked up low lofts and more traditional high irons, that would create some annoying gaps I think. and the $1399 price tag is no good either.

These are great irons for low caps, however I do want to warn guys that they don't feel quite as muted as the 790's and they are FAR less forgiving. Good looking iron, although with the traditional lofts I did expect less offset. If you need to bend them strong to match gaps, they start looking "off" pretty quickly. Basically they are just a really nice players cavity for good ball strikers.

Why on earth would you make a players iron with offset. Like making a corvette with 600hp and auto trans and 13 inch wheels . ( yes 13. So the brakes are what ?,....10 inch rotors. Lol same as ez-go).

Believe it or not, there are some of us out there that enjoy a progressively offset “players club”.

I never want to look down at a long iron with no offset. Scary.

How would you know the gaps without hitting them?

Because they're gradually weaker as the set goes on, that is strange and I can say that without hitting them. 19.5 degree 3 iron, 22 degree 4 iron, 25.5 degree 5 iron and then jumps to 29 degree (more normalized for today's players irons) and continues like that more in more traditional lofts up to the PW.

On the contrary titleist ap2, stays consistent. 21 degree 3 iron, 24 degree 4 iron, 27 degree 5 iron and 30 degree 6 iron.

Gaps are just fine in the 760’s. 10-15 yard gapping through each iron, lofts don’t always apply to distance, weight placement plays a larger part in these types of irons. Look at the Cobra Forged Tec Blacks for example, 30 degree 7 iron yet still only travels mid 160’s and spins around 6700-7000 rpm’s.

Loft isn’t the be all end all for distance. I’m sure they know what they’re doing and have spec’d the clubs where they need to be. Of course I believe there’s still loft and lie machines if adjustments need to be made.

I was hoping to get a look at these over the weekend, but none of the local places with full TM fitting carts had them in yet. I guess that's what I get for living in a part of the country where we've already had snow once this fall.

I agree with you that other brands charge ridiculous money to and I think they overcharge us because they know that we will pay for it in this market.

But I do think they overcharged us on clubs, take Srixon as an example, their irons are cheaper than most "bigger" brands but they also do less marketing and my guess is that they spend a lot less money on pro's playing them.

I think they may be growing on me. I was able to keep breakfast down this morning when I looked :-)

Seriously, I don't like the looks but I would play them if they were the best for me.

Curious, do the club HO's think resale might be tough due to looks and avoid trying because of it?

I'm going to have to try these. If they perform like they say, this would be the combo set I've been looking for. I'm very interested to see how they set up compared to the P770.

This is why I have a feeling my bag is going to end up being mostly Srixon and Cobra going forward. I've now tested products among all OEMs at this point and the "lesser" brands have IMO officially caught up and honestly, even surpassed the bigger house name brands when you consider value. The F8 3w might be the best all around fairway wood I've ever hit and was $80 less than Rogue.

I've heard varying comments about whether the $1399.99 price point will be a 7 club set or an 8 club set. I just spoke wth a TM rep; it is an 8 club set. Remember, TM also offers a 15% military discount if you order direct through them and verify through a website.

I bought my P790s with my military discount. Like most it goes through ID.me. It’s toward the end of the checkout before you verify so don’t worry that it doesn’t pop up right away.

Just spent two days hitting the P760 with dynamic gold s300 which is the same shaft i have in my AP2 716. Here are my thoughts findings:.

  • looks a lot better then any picture I had seen.
  • Gave me almost exactly the same yardage as my clubs with GC quad. With AP2 9 iron-146 yards, 7-168 and 5-189. P760 9-147, 7-167, 5-190.
  • Feel was overall better and softer than mine.
  • Good feedback on miss hits.
  • No problem working the ball, left/right and high/low
  • Felt slightly more forgiving than my own.

Verdict: I really like them and would have no problem replacing my irons tomorrow with these if the wife would let me. Only con like so many mentioned price.

Anyone pre-ordering these now that they are available? I made up a set that I would buy 4-PW and price was just over $1300. Would like to hit these and compare to AP2 718 before buying.

Everyone ragging on the 760's might want to actually get them in hand before pontificating.

I've now had them "in hand." Nice head size, they look very nice at address, and the whole package doesn't look at all objectionable when held "in hand."

Though people who want to rag on TaylorMade "as a matter of principle" will disagree, I see no reason why the looks of these will be a drawback when people finally get them in hand.
