It was on the front 9 with no TV cameras and there are only about 3 dozen people on the grounds watching the tournament and none of them thought to whip out their phone and to film it. Too bad. Would have been good theater.

That’s kinda every event in that part of the world. No fans on the course, no traffic in the streets...makes me wonder what’s so impressive about these things, other than the show up money some of these players no doubt love.

I don't see how ET does not suspend him. They get an "out" by suspending him a few months that he won't even be playing.

 

Dyson got a 2 month suspension for tamping down a spike mark! I see Sergio getting 3 month suspension, huge fine, and he has to dust off and wear the McDonald's uni he was sporting at a major many years ago.

 

ET tour suspends, and PGA Tour "honors" the suspension?

 

Doubt that will happen. Even Dyson's suspension wasn't real as it was a two-month ban suspended for 18 months. He didn't miss a tournament. So I won't be surprised to see a similar arrangement for Sergio.

 

Wish there was some video. I would like to see if he was damaging the edge of the green nowhere near the hole as he walked off or was the damage truly interfering with the groups behind? Not that it excuses his behavior; I just want to know if Reed was taking his new role as ET mascot a bit too far.

I wonder if anyone has spoken to his playing partner Renato Partore. Kind of a shame that he was playing with a kinda youngster on the European Tour, it would be interesting to see how a bigger name or more experienced player would have reacted to it.

 

I'm not a confrontational guy but if someone did that whist I was playing with them, there is no way that I would be keeping quiet.

What Sergio did was terrible. I like Sergio but this is a disgrace. He needs to fined, pay for the damage he caused and suspended for at least 5 tournaments he is scheduled to play.

Sergio should be banned from the Ryder Cup in 2020 to send a message. In fact, ban anyone that's been his partner in a Ryder Cup too.

 

In addition to whatever fine they come up with, he should be forced to pay back his "fee" for showing up this week.

 

Sergio must be forced to play some minor tournaments for no fee, Qatar, Kenya, Oman, that sort of thing. That's more useful than a suspension.

 

Most damning of all, Sergio Garcia will be required to continue using his current putting stroke.

Very little tv coverage for the earlier groups. I didn't see cameras until Dechambeau started. They may have had some on the final three holes for Garcia et al, but they didn't for the first nine at least.

 

Except for majors, no tv coverage early in the round is the norm. I've seen everything from players cheating, to a fistfight on the practice range. Some of the stuff that goes on away from the cameras is shall we say, surprising.

 

As for Sergio, he said it wouldn't happen again. My a**. He's that way, and it'll happen again.

I am exaggerating about the number of spectators, but it is VERY thin.

 

There are only 200 registered golfers....IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY... and all of them are probably there.

 

Which is why it’s hard for me to understand how they get a return on the massive amounts of money they’re paying out in appearance fees.

Judging by the behavior it must have been a big pay cut.
