Agreed but you won't see me complaining about this release. The historical alternative with Mizuno is me being sick to my stomach looking at the MP20 and knowing I wouldn't ever get my hands on it. Sign me up for the SEL.

At the risk of sounding like a *****, the fact that it's only the lefties complaining is a great sign!

I think that is just a marketing piece to show the copper layer and create buzz. The clubs people buy wont look like that. Mizuno even replies that they are blue-balling us :D Looks badass to me

Glad someone else feels the same way. If there was money to be made in developing more clubs for LH players Mizuno would be doing it!

You guys got a SPECIAL EDITION!! Be thankful and let's get back to the discussion at hand.

They gave the lefties the perfect set, driving irons for the long irons and blades for the rest of the set. How can they complain? You can't put together a better set.

Sole camber I meant sole camber. And to me, they appear to be the same length with a little toe side taper

That's what I was thinking! That is basically the same set I'm looking at ordering as a righty.

The lefty complaints remind a lot of how internet "car guys" say that every company should offer a car with a manual transmission and that they would sell so many more cars if offered in manual. Then car companies offer a manual and nobody buys it.

Lefty complaints are typically confined to the players irons/blade discussions.

Here is an explanation of the left-handed thing from Mizuno perspective. Its on their European forum.

_Just wrote another apology / explanation to a left hander. Thought it might be a good idea to write something we could point to that sits in a public place.

Everyone at Mizuno would love to offer every iron model in leftie. Unfortunately there aren't enough left hand golfers (just 5 -10% of all players) to spread across 6 models. So we offer 3 of those 6 models in left handed. Last year we chose MP-18 SC as our leftie offering - a very similar player segment to the 919 Tour, hence the reason for offering the 919 Forged and 919 Hot Metal in leftie this time.

The MP-18 SC picked up just about every award by the golfing media as the 'players iron' of 2018 - so hopefully that was a good choice.

The leftie situation gets even tougher at the low hcp end of the player spectrum. We have 2 challenges - firstly less than 30% of regular golfers play off a single digit hcp (taking that particular leftie group down to a max of 3% of the golfing population). Secondly the Mizuno #grainflowforged process is vastly more expensive to set up than other manufacturers cast process. There's a minimum number of sets we'd need to produce / distribute to meet a similar cost / price as the right handed option.

Gives us 3 options.

1. To sell the left handed players models at a much higher price (which is clearly unfair).

2. Attempt to select an offering to cover most golfing needs (MP-18 SC, JPX919 Forged, JPX919 Hot Metal).

3. Raise the price of right handed irons to cover the increased production costs of offering all models left handed (we think they are already expensive enough).

None of these are perfect scenarios - but picking 3 models from within the 6, without an overload of low hcp offerings appears to be the most balanced approach. There’s a very good leftie (or rightie) range of irons in those 3 models.

Hope that at least demonstrates that we're not 'anti-leftie'. Not a scenario we're 100% happy with - as we know it's leaving some people disappointed. Constant discussion as to which models we should select as the leftie options.

Probably won't help the left handed butt hurt, but at least they acknowledge the butt hurtness. :)

Chris Wood just had his set built. 4-5 MMC rest is muscle back. LOL 5 iron cavity back, what an amateur ball striker. Didn't he look at Mizuno's extensive data research?

LOL not really sure what I was expecting - just confirming the 'forgiveness' of the set, I guess.

it seems the HMB is kind of like an SGI

HMB isn't remotely close to an SGI.
