I am sure he will be admonished more harshly for his disrespectful gesture by his sponsors and in Korean media, which can be brutal. When you win in Korea, you are made a "god"; when you publicly embarrass yourself as a Korean, you are shamed. Koreans are very conservative, this action is seen as an extreme act of selfishness and a lack of personal control. It also depicts Koreans in a very bad way, embarrassing the country.

Exactly. Like I said, massive difference.

I mean they have legal prostitution, virtually no environmental standards, rampant counterfeiting, etc. I was stationed there, lived there for a year and a half, and traveled all around the country. People overall aren’t much different than here. Their tour may have strict standards but it’s not universal in the culture like some are making out.

....never mind ; )

Not really but same could be said about moving from LA to Bozeman, Montana. Aside from the thieves, prostitution, counterfeiting, bad driving, all the US chain restaurants, night clubs, and everything else we have here I guess it was “massively different. ?

Shingo Katayama had to make a public apology for his rudeness to a pro-am guest in 2018.

_

The guest was reportedly offended by Katayama's attitude and behaviour, such as the guest had lined up a putt but Katayama kept practicing his own putts on the green. The amateur quit the round._

I assume he's saying the suspension length is outrageous?

It's fine that people disagree with how the Korean tour handles non-professional or poor behavior. Outside the US, most countries don't acknowledge PC or care what trends on social media, period. No flipping-off, cussing or namby-pamby, methinks. Therefore it's a good thing.

They could suspend the player from the Korean Tour. They can suspend anyone from the KT for any reason.

I will tell you one thing. Korean fans are by far the most rude fans I have ever dealt with in professional events. I had them coughing and making noise purposely multiple times during the 3rd round when I was doing well @ Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea in 2016. I was warned by other western players to be careful of spectators distracting you in Korea. I didn’t flip them the bird but maybe I should have.

Wow, why was Ryo Ishikawa there? Did he do something too? He and Shingo both have that same look on their faces. They may claim it's a look of remorse but it looks more like "why the #$%& am I doing here?!?!"

This is confusing. Getting three years for flipping the bird is non-"PC?"
