How long is your driver?

Curious to know what driver length people are playing and why

Currently playing a PXG 0811X @ 44.5". Previous driver was 45.5 in a Callaway Rogue. The Rogue is quite a bit longer, but the dispersion was a lot wider as well. With the 44.5" PXG I give up a little distance for a pretty significant difference in accuracy.

Titleist 917D3 at 43.75. Just cutted a bit at time until I felt comfortable. Will never go back to a longer driver.

44.75” at D4 swingweight. Years of trial and error has helped me determine this length and SW provides me with the best balance of distance, accuracy and feel for the clubhead during my swing.

I usually have 2-4 various shafts with lengths from 44.5 to 45 in. Had that both in the 2017 M2 and Ping 400 Max. Many years ago before fitting was where it's at today a prominent local fitter had a set up in garage and had me hit three different clubs from 43.5 and up. I ended up with a 44.5 in GD Ys 7 in my Titleist driver. On course I thought I had lost distance and had it extended a .5 to 45. Frankly it was a more mental thing. The biggest thing I remember was the fitting tape he put on the faces and how the hitting grouping was so tight on the 43.5 and the dispersion grew wider as the shafts got longer. Always remembered that.

45.5 for me, had always been 45 before my latest driver but moved up that .5. I had wondered if I had been driving it poorly because of the extra .5. Changed back to 45 and added some lead weight tape to my driver...it confirmed that I was driving poorly because I am rubbish!!

44.5" @ D4. This length is the best mix of accuracy without losing too much distance.

44" graphite - grew up playing steel shaft at 43 - 43.5. Tried to play the 45" graphite and just can't control the club - actually picked up better control and clubbed speed by coming back to 44.

46" Ping G400 Max standard with Distanza Shaft and works for me.

I decided to extend one I wasn't using to 48" and wound up loving it. Gained yardage off the box and am still about to be fairly consistent. Main concern is it hurts my back occasionally. I adjusted my gamer to about 47" and I've found that doesn't hurt my back and still gives a great balance of distance and accuracy. It'd surprisingly easy to get used to a new length. If I have a hole I have to be accurate on I'll just choke up slightly. It'd worked out really well, I'd recommend it if you usually make good contact with the sweet spot of your current driver.

Are you playing the Gen2 or Gen1 PXG? I gained a good 15 yards on the Gen2 over the Gen1 (which I didn't use due to the distance of other drivers, mainly the G400)

44.25" after many experiments. 4 wood around 42.5". Hit the sweet spot more at these lengths.

45.0 for me. Gives me the best consistency without giving up much yardage.

I'm not exactly sure, but it's either 43.25" or 43.5".

 

As for why... had been playing 44" to 44.5" for a great many years, having figured out longer than that doesn't work. Then had a fitting a few years ago, where I found I was swinging a 43.25" and even 43" driver 3mph faster than my then in the bag 44-1/8" driver. Took a few years to settle in my brain, and I've cut down over a half dozen sticks since.

 

Lead tape is my friend. LOL
