I hate the wind.

The only conditions I won't play in are snow and heavy rain. But that doesn't mean I won't complain about the weather. I'm British after all. The only reason I don't complain about the sun and heat very much is because I rarely get a chance to experience excessive amounts of either :)

I learned to play golf in the Wichita KS area. If you don’t like wind there then I recommend selling your clubs and focusing on Xbox.

to me it’s all about realistic expectations, understanding everyone is playing in the same conditions , knowing that you may hit a 7 iron 200 yards, or 100 yards learning to work the ball is helpful

It depends on what is considered windy. In Texas you can pretty much count on a 20mph wind all spring with plenty of days where it'll gust to 30. That's fairly playable.

Over 35 it becomes a grind.

I went on a golf trip to PHX one year and the wind barely blew...less than 5 mph every round. It totally threw me off. You spend most of the year thinking how wind will affect your shot and then to just take dead aim and trust the distances....crazy.

I played in heavy rain and wind in Maui. Due to wind the rain was parallel to the ground. Thankful for Goretex. Never played in snow but played in temps around 33* in shorts. We froze our as** off. Sun never bothers me but high temps over 108* are getting to me more and more. Highest temp for me was few years back in the desert at PGA West it was 120*. We expecting to be over in your area next year for a month or two. Need to experience some of that UK gloomy grey.

Having learned to play in Chicago, and now living in N. TX, wind is the great equalizer. I'm a pretty solid wind player, whereas most people are not. Learn to play in the wind, it'll make you a much more complete player.

Well if you come between June and September you should get to see a couple of days of sun. And temperatures have been known to reach the high 20s occasionally. I gave up only my second ever golf of round this year. Temperatures hit 32c and I was recovering from diarrhoea so it was just too much.

The first time I gave up a round was the opposite extreme. Mist and near freezing temperatures which turned into freezing fog. I had waterproof gloves on but it just got too painful.

That's better. Same ground conditions but no wind roaring in my ears. Some very decent ball striking. Most of my drives went straight, on target and 190 yards. That's my usual summer distance. Bombed several balls onto the greens. My new saying is 'You approach the green from the sky' :)

A collection of bogeys and a couple of pars. Could only play the first 13 as the rest were closed.

I'd say that was pretty good for a 22 in winter conditions.

Got a trip to Turkey in February with my first golfing instructor. I think it's going to be a good un' :)

I used to hate the wind. I have grown to just accept it as part the course and I no longer try to over power the wind. It adds an element of thought to the game. Wind is why relatively unprotected links courses can host majors. Wind is the great equalizer and is a lot like a Chinese finger trap, the harder you fight it, the more is tightens down on you. Swinging easy is the way to play in the wind, really no matter the direction.

Up wind and down wind aren't my issues.

It's the cross wind that stops blowing a second after you aimed 15 yards right.

Take it for what it is and don’t let it get to you. Stayed On Maui for 10 days and played 4 rounds out there and on a couple of instances, I had to deal with wind. I just took it into account, clubbed up or down may 1 or 2 clubs and played the course as plain and simple as possible. Wind is such a challenge to play in especially if you don’t hit the. all straight. It amplifies your swing flaws and that’s why most player won’t play it. That’s when you learn how to hit low punch shots with longer clubs. It definitely makes the game that much more of a challenge.

Opposite for me. I enjoy the wind but absolutley hate being soaking wet. Played today at my club (S. FL) with my daughter. Wind was steady at 22 mph with gusts to 37 mph. Great fun trying to pick clubs and shape shots. Greens were fast so wind was really influencing putts as well. We had a blast and both managed to break 80 from ~6500 and as a team won our group pot (24 guys).

I think the key is to realize that in those conditions, from a practical perspective, par goes up significantly. You've got to adjust expectations and be patient.

I kind of like playing in the wind at times. Makes me a better player. I play a ton of twilight golf so I most always have some type of wind.

Wind helps on non wind days as Ive learned to slow my thought process and account for more variables.

I love watching 190 yard 8 irons and 100 yard 8 irons on the same day.

I used to hate the wind, but now that i play a pretty low draw i've come to welcome it a bit more....i still would rather a nice day. But i feel like in the wind i do better than most other golfers. So i'm not too upset when we get a windy day in tournaments or something

Played in 35 mph winds today in Florida and had one of the best ball striking days of my life. Simply could not miss with Irons. I don't love playing in the wind but I have learned to adapt in it after years of just trying to rip the ball as hard as I could through it. Learning how to control trajectory and spin can make a world of difference you do not have to be a expert shot shaper, but simply knowing what the ball is going to do is important. Espeically with lofted clubs since the spin is going to be higher then with woods. Ex. I was on 17 at the bear trap today at PGA National (all carry over water). They had the tees moved up, regardless the hole was straight into the wind at 155 yards. My old man asked me what's my plan on this one. I told him I was going to hit a high cut 5 iron (195 club for me). I got up aimed about 30 yards left of the pin then let this thing shore into the wind and let it do it's thing. Ball ended up 5 feet away and kicked it in for bird. My purpose of hitting a high cut was to knock additional distance off of the shot with the wind rather then try to take it straight at the pin with a 6 which was probably the right club if I wanted to hit a straight shot. At the end of the day got to trust it.
