I was looking on the TM site myself and noticed the same thing. If tomorrow the 10th is Pre-Order day? Is strange the SIM is not listed any longer. Wonder if Taylormade could tell us why?

Yearly PSA for anyone ordering an expensive upcharge custom shafted driver direct from Taylormade: they will automatically tip it 1" unless you specifically and clearly tell them not to.

DAY 1 WITH THE NEW TM SIM DRIVER AND 3WDS

My clubheads arrived Thursday midday. I had the driver shafts I most wanted to try with the driver, the same shaft model that I have in my M5--- Ventus Blue (real deal original Ventus) 6-S. Because of what I knew about the club I chose the 10.5* SIM whereas my M5 is a 9.0. But the SIM with a more square set at address than the open faced M5. It, at first, appears a touch closed only because of being used to the openness of the older club. My set up previously was one notch weaker (2.0* sleeve) M5, the choice for the SIM was more loft but then opened up and delofted two notches (1.0* sleeve in this shaft, but the SIM clubs from the Tour department came to me with 1.5* sleeves). Anyway the results are that I actually hit them with just about the same trajectory. So that works for me. Initially I had excellent control with the SIM. My misses with the M5 is usually a little right (although I am a draw player). For this one day I really didn't have any mis-directed shots. I will also try the Ventus Blue 7-S in the next few days and perhaps something else as I have a lot to choose from. But I have really been a Ventus fan since I first tested the original protos. SIM appears hotter, more on that coming once dialed in.

For the 3 wd, I received two versions the SIM, one is the new club at a much larger 180 cc than the 161 cc M5. The other club is not commercial that is between the two sizes of the M5 and standard SIM. The shafts I have coming for these don't arrive until Friday. So I went with the Ventus Blue 7-S which I also have in the M5 and a Speeder 7.3 S Tour Spec. Both were very good. Although I have really enjoyed the M5 3w, I can already say the one of these SIMs is moving ahead. Very impressive. looking forward to trying the Ventus Red 7-S in them also. I realize many here loved the old V-Steel. While it was a good club it never really made it into my bag. I dug up an old head to remind me. These new clubs are so much more accurate the "old boy" will become a distant memory!

I also received the SIM Max Rescue 3. It is awaiting another shaft arrival on Friday. So that will wait for the next few days. I asked for a slightly stronger loft, I received a measured 18*. Looking forward to that test.

That's a good looking driver.

I haven't gamed a TM since the original M2. After a horrible range session I realized that I chipped the white paint in a couple spots.

 

Has the durability improved since?

Just another opinion that doesn't matter, but TM equipment just keeps getting uglier. I can't criticize the performance and popularity, but these wild, modernistic designs are too much of a departure for me.

Thats funny because I just got this txt from the rep:

Copy and Paste exact.

the smoke green on the SIM says its a 70G, but the weight in the specs says is 61grams in stiff. on the true temper site the smoke green 70 is 70 grams, but the smoke 60 is 61 grams... so which is it?

The 70 is 70. Spec sheet has a typo on it

ok, so every retailer out there displaying it on their website for the presale today has it wrong?

Yeah, they all just copy the info from us. I hit the shaft yesterday. It is a 70g shaft

Correct. The stock "Ventus" does not have Velocore, which is the marque technology that makes a Ventus a Ventus so not really sure what this shaft is supposed to be.

 

The aftermarket Ventus with Velocore, the real shaft that is getting all the positive reviews and hype, is available as an upcharge option, $250 on the TM site.

There is a material and technology difference between the two:

 

Unlike the aftermarket version, the TaylorMade version lacks full-length Pitch 70 fiber in the bias layer. It lacks VeloCore (Ventus’ signature technology) and will play softer in the tip section because of it.

 

Torque for the stock Ventus Blue 6s is 3.8, on the aftermarket Ventus Blue 6s is 3.1
