This arm chair analyst thinks that Brady was catching many of his shots up on the neck on the front for the first 7 holes. He was hitting everything way right and short with an occasional way left when he caught the center of the face. It is a familiar pattern for me and one that I have observed in other golfers a lot of times.

That was quite enjoyable especially compared to last week. Phil was commentary was great. Love his competitiveness how it shows. Manning was good until the match got tight and he missed the short putt and he was competing. The talking was less than normal from him. JT was awesome and Balionis is what Sonders could have been and wishes she was. Manning hit some impressive irons shots and even Brady for as horrific as he played hit some amazing shots too. Weather was brutal too.

 

Next match has to have MJ in it I bet.

I agree that Medalist presented much better than Seminole on TV, but the play is probably more fun at the latter.

This was overall a great success and "take a suck of that" is officially going into my lexicon.

I know that there is no way that they could do much of what they did last night in a PGA Tour event but they tried things out. They didn’t just do the same old same old like last week. Watching sports should be fun, last night was.

Agree totally! The thing lasted 5+ hours and was very entertaining.

I have to say that for whatever reason and I cannot determine why, Charles Barkley is the secret ingredient that made it (and most TNT broadcasts for that matter) better. This is inexplicable, but when you catch lightening in a bottle, go with it. If je ne sais quoi is the right term, Chuck has it. Also, the host who sounds like Mike Tirico, but not as stuffy and more funny, was great.

Very impressed with Phil's unshakable competitive optimism. When they made it back to 1 down, you could see the wheels turning in his head. Good stuff. And great telecast to get that perspective. The cart cam was a great idea. Was it just me or did the carts seem like they had supercharged motors. Those things were flying. More shot tracer than any reasonable viewer could expect to see given the horrible weather. It was fun to see TB go from mute I-want-to-be-anywhere-but-here hacker to confident worldbeater after the hole out. He's just like everyone else.

I was asking myself the same thing. Peyton also asked Tiger what the speed was on the 1st or 2nd green and Tiger said "98". Not sure if this is the percentage of effort based on a flat putt or what, but Tiger or Peyton are definitely using some kind of scale to base their speed upon.

Agree that this was a more fun watch. Using carts was better as they got to their balls faster and had less dead time on air.

14 of the 18 holes at Seminole use the two ridges that are 30-40 feet of elevation and are on both sides of the property. You probably couldn’t recognize it on your screen. If you looked closely at how the holes were designed, many had different routes to take that could shorten your distance to the green but were riskier shots. A lack of trees is generally a good thing. The most boring golf to watch is some narrow hole corridor with trees lining each side of the fairway. Also I didn’t care as much for all of Medalist’s straight lines and simple bunker shapes, but that is just a preference on aesthetics.

Yes, that's right. It was %age of speed it would be if the putt was flat. Honestly, it bummed me out how much Manning asked Tiger about that stuff. I did enjoy him constantly ordering TW to pull the pin though.

Very well done. While I liked last weeks event this was much better. Key differentiators are;

1. Carts, getting to the ball faster

2. Cameras in carts

3. Phil - like him or not, his personality adds a lot

4. Chuck B - so much fun always

Agree with all this ....it was unfortunate that the weather took a bit away. They had to worry so much about staying dry (or trying to), probably took away from some banter.

Also, regarding their electronics...can't believe we aren't in the age where the ear pieces are wireless? And the belt units aren't half the size?

All those wires hanging off is messy, most notably seen on TB's hole-out

Couldn't disagree more on Seminole vs Medalist. Medalist looked like a crappy Florida cartball course with boring green complexes (and one laughably small green on a par 5). It showed with how often the QBs lost balls and had to drop. Seminole looked like a great course to walk that would play different every day depending on where the pins were. Much better green complexes which are what make a course.
