Tour Titleist TSi 2 & TSi 3 driver and 3 woods - 2020 Safeway Open

I'm sure the stock AV White would fit me fine, but I will probably go with XC 6x. I had the XC in a PING G410 and it was very good for me. Soft butt anything seems to work for me. Owned the DI about 10 time and it is always high and straight but short for my swing. Had the IZ 7x in a 3 wood and it was good, but not the most consistent for my swing. I hope to get fitted this time, but if I don't, XC 6x it is.

Had the opportunity to get fit.  I came in with a TS3 with a Ventus Black 6x.  I LOVED how the TSi3 looked, but just flat out hit the TSi2 better.  As a complete shaft ho I was happily surprised to be fit into a Fuji Speeder 757 evo vi - this was completely off my radar.  More ball speed and significantly less spin.  I was fit into the TSi3 fairway wood with the same shaft.  I had one or 2 swings hit 170 mph ball speed with this fw set up!

I had a similar experience with the drivers. Couldn’t overlook the performance of the 2. Spin was as low as the 3 for me, but was faster and more consistent

My SS is around 112 on the course.  Have always played X and have been fitted a million times into X shafts.  I get along better with slightly heavier shafts, 70+ grams, usually high 70's work best for me.

 

I have a AD BB 7X in my Ts3 now.  I also have a HZRDUS Smoke X with a Titleist adapter on it that came in the Ts3, that I was actually fit into but the fitter didn't have that many X shafts for me to try.

 

I would like to get a Tensei White or Blue TX, but I can't figure out which are going to be upcharges and which are stock?  Any idea if the AV Raw Blue 65 TX is an error or not, or if the White TX will also be no upcharge?

 

I'm pretty sure it was a error or will be a upcharge. I didn't see tx offer on there shaft list for raw

I’m going into my fitting expecting to go with the tensei raw white. I have played the diamana whiteboard in all of the titleist models since the 913. I’m curious where I will end up on length. Been playing at 44.5” and have great control. I’m kind of feeling greedy to get 45 or 45.5” to get even more distance.

Totally agree with you davo.  I wanted to love the 3 but for my swing the TSi2 was money - I hit farther, and more importantly, it just kept going straight.  Accuracy with my driver is not my strength so the TSi2 driver was a no brainer for me.

My previous G15 had a 44.5” shaft. Probably the most consistent club in the bag.

 

I’m getting the TSi3 with stock 45.5” length.   Figured what the hell. I can’t imagine an extra length is all of a sudden going to make me a terrible driver of the ball. But we shall see

How are people liking the RDX?  I liked the Tensei White but could go with something stouter/a little less hook prone.

I had the most success with the RDX. I’m honestly not sure why it fit me that well. During the fitting I was around 102-103 SS with a couple up in the 106-107 range. 
 

I ended up with a 6.5 flex. On the surface I thought it would be too stiff. But it felt more stable than than the 6.0. Possibly due to my quicker tempo? 
 

One thing the 6.5 did was get rid of some of the hooks is was having. If anything it was hanging out to the left (I’m a lefty) just a smidge. Once I get the driver I’ll be playing around with the adjustment to get it dialed in a little better.

Hey all,

 

I had my fitting yesterday for these two drivers and feel I should provide my input now. Little background on me first. This season I played Taylormade Sim, Mavrik, and Sim Max, however, ultimately ended up going back to my faithful titleist 917 for the majority of the season. With that said, the titleist obviously was the shortest of all I played this year, it was the most accurate, hence the change. Sim was longest all season, but I could never step up to the tee and feel completely confident in it. Im sure others have experienced that same feeling. This is ultimately why I have decided to go the titleist route, just fits my eye better.

 

Onto the fit:

 

Started with my driver (917 D3 9.5 playing at 0.75 lower). Got baseline numbers with that and my shaft the smoke black 6.5 70 gram. I have used ventus, tour ad TP, Hzrdus Hulk small batch, and Tour ad Vr this season, none of which were better than the smoke.

 

Got my baseline numbers and they were good, but spinny. Followed these up by the TSI2 with my shaft plugged in and boom immediately dropped 300 spin on average, with a couple mph ball speed (3 on average). It was good, but wasn't completely sold on the look at address. Still closer to the TS2 look from previous, however sound was improved.

 

Next, they built me a 9* TSI3 and dispersion immediately got better and dropped 800 spin from my gamer and picked up 4mph on my driver. Numbers were immediately different, close to 30 yards with spin reduction and gain in ballspeed. I fully expected this, as the 917 is slow, however, I imagine between anything current the differences will be negligible on a well struck shot. Where I found this driver shine was with a low miss on face and this along with the perfect looks and sound is why I will be ordering 100%. The low strikes on the face spun lower than good strikes, was crazy to see this drop in spin to retain distance still. Gave the 8* head a couple swings too, and spin was lower, but dispersion got a little worse. 

 

If anyone has any other questions I will be happy to answer, but the looks are amazing, feel and sound are perfect and with the jump in distance I am sold. Once again, there will be no difference in my opinion to every other driver out there, but the low strikes were remarkable. They just kept talking about the face tech being the reason for that! Crazy!

Interested in some more independent assessments as well. Reports are that the TSi3 driver is fabulous by all credible reports I’ve seen.  I haven’t seen nearly as much about the TSi3 fairway.

Would say sound comparable to Sim driver, without the same materials but similar. Hard to explain, if you have hit old titleist closer to those.

 

Hit both the tsi2 and 3 fairways and was underwhelmed. Nothing special.

Received confirmation 65TX is no upcharge just not in titleist system yet to order. On their website no upcharge so that will be awesome.

It is a material/profile thing. If they follow the same pattern as they have in the past, the TX versions will feature higher quality materials, strengthening elements in the tip (boron fiber/MR70 etc etc), and lower torque in both the butt and tip sections for more stability and a stronger feel. That combined with the fact that the Blue TX is a different profile than the White means you're really looking at two very different shafts there.

It's not that beautiful Taylormade  thud sound but it's definitely not a tin can sound either 

it's a pleasing sound compared to other previous Titleist offerings .
