DJ still using the Sim in Saudi. Not a good sign for Sim2

I mean the Sim had a much more noticeable fade bias and DJ hates seeing the ball turn over. Probably needs to do some more work to get the launch conditions dialed with a Sim 2 head.

I think this is canceled out by Brooks picking up some decent ball speed and smash factor with the SIM 2 vs. his old M5 at the Phoenix Open and the reviews by average golfers showing some crazy forgiveness pickups.

He hasn’t had time to test Sim 2 enough to dial in specs (according to his coach)

however, Rory is leading the field in driving with the Sim2...id say that’s a pretty good look

Apologies if it's been stated already in this thread, but is the Ventus Black w/ velocore that is offered on TM's custom site the real deal or "made for?"

I see the Blue is a $250 upcharge.

Anything with Velocore is the real deal. I’m pretty sure any Ventus “made for” shaft doesn’t have Velocore.

Now my biggest thing about Taylormade drivers -

Is it possible to actually get one on spec -

My Ping G410 LST is perfect spec - 9* head digital loft, Tensei Pro Orange tipped 1 inch at D4 at 44.75 inches.

Can I Actually get a head from TM at 9* ish Ventus Black tipped 1 inch at 45 inches at D4?

Just for the price it costs I want the swing weight right(I am sensitive to it) and have heavy clubs D5.

  • Titleist TSR3 9* Ventus Black 6X
  • Taylormade Sim2 15* Tensei White 80TX
  • TM Stealth 2 Iron or Ping i59 3 iron Project X 7.0

You can get any weight off eBay to get your SW right - TM gets as close to stock as possible, but I haven’t seen them accommodate any asks outside of stock SW.

Thanks, interesting standard its now D5 which is very heavy at 45.75 - wonder if getting it short they might just leave it lighter.

Yes, they say velocore near the tip of the shaft. Stock shafts do not.

Velocore represents advanced stiff materials used the length of the shaft to increase “straightness”. Non Velocore Ventus has very little to none of this and feels like a noodle.  I remain disappointed that Fuji decided to go the route of “made for ” Ventus for TM stock offerings.  Hurts the brand.

I want to confirm if “Hextow” (the Project X equivalent of Velocore) is on the the shafts of the stock RDX Black for both TM and Titleist offerings.  I keep hearing from various web sites that True Temper has not followed the “made for” track for stock offerings unlike Fuji.

BTW I have owned Ventus Black Velocore (last years SIM) and currently Ventus Blue Velocore . They do exactly as they claim.  You need loading ability consistently to swing the black and I had a untipped version for mine.  Great shafts as long as the say Velocore on them.

Not made for from either OEM.
HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX is like a smoother Atmos black, which no real flex points and very stable.

If I hadn’t been able to source for myself and a few mates on here because we bulk bought through an incredible member, I’d be gaming it this season.

I received a response earlier from True Temper earlier today, “All Smoke Blue RDX shafts are the same material. We do not have “made for” shafts in this line. It’s simply a different cosmetic.”

I’ll take them at face value, but it is odd that Taylormade would have an up charge purely for the PVD finish vs the Black finish for the Smoke Blue RDX.

I have a request into Taylormade to confirm. My worry would be that the employees responding to support questions might not be fully qualified and there’s more to the up charge model than just cosmetic?

It's a simple case of Markup and Bulk Buy vs Individual supply.

I'd be very very surprised if any of the shafts that are sold individually cost more than $100 to produce....the difference is how many you are buying....

Any of the OEM's that want a shaft can commit to buy hundreds of thousands in one go...hence they get them cheaper...maybe $70/$80 per shaft....where does the supplier make their money back....by charging a massive markup on the ones they sell individually to give the impression of high cost/value.

Add to this a custom paint job etc and you enhance the perceived value and can therefore charge more.

HZRDUS have their 'Hand Crafted' versions which whilst they may cost slightly more do not justify the additional markup but again it is something they can charge 'extra' for and some people fall for it!

It's been happening this way in manufacturing/retail for years.

The Smoke's are the Real Deal!!

Ordered a 9* max with fuji pro 2.0 tour spec 6x one click toward lower. I have been wanting to get this shaft and the upcharge wasn’t bad. Been loving the rdx blue in my sim at the range and will do a shaft shootout

What rdx do you have? Ie 60/70, how stiff and if tipped or not?

Has anyone that ordered direct from Taylormade with custom shaft received a ship notification yet? Kinda odd that orders from Golf Galaxy are shipping but not the direct ones from

TM.

FWIW, my order through Golf Galaxy has not shipped yet either and I ordered on Jan 21 (nor am I expecting it soon).
