Agreed. She's not a pro commentator but it doesn't mean she can't develop the skill.  I'm rooting for her.

Has nothing to do with her being a woman, and more to do with the fact that she's just not doing a good job. Leave Britney Alone!!!

"These days" is relegated to tournaments only this year even though he's won or competed at all of those places in the last few years. Naw.

I agree with you , let her develop.  But where I don’t is on the idea that she’s being unfairly ridiculed. . I think people are being the same to her as most other new announcers.  It’s just perceived as being harsh because she’s female.  In reality that’s how guys treat new guys.  You have to develop and prove yourself. Which I have no doubt she can do.  
 

take joe buck.  I can’t stand to hear his voice.  And I’ll say so everytime he’s mentioned.  Lol. But I love to listen to Judy  rankin ( spelling ?) ... Michelles voice is pleasant.  That’s half the battle. She’s knowledgeable too.  The thing that will take some getting used to and or polishing on her end is the valley girl bubbly shtick.  It works for sports casting , sometimes.  And then it just doesn’t fit in others.  My 2 cents.

He really should just play the courses where it can be hot and humid so his back loosens up. It's where he's physically looked the best.

Correct. She's the opposite of "She's got a face for radio." (She doesn't have the voice for it.) Too "valley girl". That has nothing to do with anything else she does. Doesn't take away from her accomplishments as a golfer, or all the other great things she does in her life.  Just... "sorry, doesn't work."

Folks on here essentially like no announcers outside of Johnny Miller. They hated Bones when he first started and Bones has turned out to be fantastic. There are some bad announcers out there like Faldo, but most are pretty good at their jobs and a few are fantastic (Nantz, Miller, Feherty back in the day). I don't know if people don't like Michelle Wie West because she's a woman who didn't turn out to be as good as advertised as a player, if they don't like her because they don't like any announcers, or because her first big gig is working at the Masters and you can get exposed that way. Either way, give her some time.

I really like her. I was watching the featured groups all day yesterday and really enjoyed listening to her, not even knowing who she was. Just realized today that it's Wie. 

 

She seems really candid and personable, and has pretty good insight from the player's perspective without getting too analytical. And she tries to get the players over, rather than get herself over (to use wrestling terminology).

 

If this is her first try, I'm very impressed.

And on top of that, this is the masters. This isn't the Pelicans women's championship, it's arguably one of, if not the greatest golfing venue of the year. If you're going to put yourself out there, maybe try the Honda classic first.
