How would Phil winning the PGA Championship at 50+ years of age affect his legacy? Sports writers have Phil in the top 15-20 all time greats, does he move up? 

 

Just for argument sake does Phil winning the career grand slam elevate him into the top 10? A lot of what ifs in this post but Im just curious

I’m watching write now with the ESPN app on ESPN+. I have to say one really cool feature is that I can type this write now while watching the golf in a window on the same screen. The window is adjustable. I’m sitting out on the patio using an iPad.

Yes, he’s definitely in the top 10. Puts him in the Player, Watson, Snead, King class.

Based on the scores so far as long as Brooks is on he should be able to take a 2-3 stroke lead today.  There is nobody else up there capable of hanging with him if he continues to play as he has the last 2 days and you take the wind out of the equation.

when I watch JS miss all these putts  I think he just hasn't figured out the grain on this type of surface because its unlike anything else they see on tour on a regular basis.....but when I watch RM miss all these putts I am starting to think he needs to go back to a traditional type of putter, because if he is taking advice from Brad F. he uses a more traditional style toe weighted putter, not a face balanced  style that seems to be the new norm on Tour

YJS -4 through 11, making lots of putts. He has figured it out.

@Soloman1 Butch discussed this year on British TV (Sky Sports Golf) during this years 2021 Masters Tournament that he had been discreetly working with Hideki in the later part of 2020 in Las Vegas. He said the main goal was to tidy up his back swing and reduce the length of his pause at the top of his backswing.

It looks effortless, but did you notice that he is on his toes through impact?  Ever try that?  It takes a lot of effort.

The fact that he can do that and make it look effortless is the mark of a natural golfer/athlete.

I did try it..  You're pushing off vertically to get your swing down faster..  It works.. But I'm not as consistent as Louis is or as long..

If you get the timing right.. it's powerful technique..

Yeah not sure what is going on... Sky in the UK here as well is just a bunch of talking. I personally am not a fan of watching Phil warm-up, nothing THRILLING about that 😉 I would rather watch a rewind of Brad Marek's warm-up routine.
