I agree.  Personally, I don't think the tour should even test once competition has started.  By this point, most of the damage (if there even is any) has been done.  He's only going to come in contact with 2 people tomorrow - Morikawa and his caddie.  And he doesn't even have to stand anywhere close to them.  Imagine if this had happened to Phil Mickelson going into the final round of the PGA.

So no one works at the event? No one in the clubhouse, restaurant, locker room etc?

CBS commented that only 1/2 of PGA players have been vaccinated.  If true, I find that both sad and shocking.

As far as mRNA technology, they are already predicting that it will be used for faster and much more precise flu vaccines in the near future and that it will enable ground breaking customized targeting of an individual’s specific cancer cells which may mean dramatic improvements in cancer survival statistics.  mRNA is the future and it bodes tremendous things for us all.

Lets see if I'm understanding all of this correctly...............Rahm knew he was in contact with someone who had/has covid on Monday before the tournament and he then proceeded to get his first vaccination shot. The tour was well aware of that fact and allowed him to play. There's a probable law suit against the tour (just my opinion) even though the tour has certain protocols established, because all of this transpired well after the fact contact was established. Rahm should have been DQ'd prior to the first round but the tour allowed him to proceed.

I don’t think there has been a MASSIVE fallout of criticism over the forced withdrawal. There has been an outpouring of support and best wishes for a speedy recovery for Rahm.
We may have turned the corner on the pandemic but not to the point where a verified positive test is ignored.

Sorry but social media tells a much different story. People are clearly not happy.

Guaranteed money is really what I’m sort of driving at here. After one of their own gets robbed of a huge non-major, all the glory and endorsement that comes with it and the $1.6 or so million bucks. Not to mention the only repeat win of the event besides tiger.

It’s got to have so of the superstars heads spinning. Especially those who were already in talks.

I wouldn't know, since discussion of such a major golf event is forbidden on a major golf discussion forum.

I concur.

Snoop. The PGA only tests those who are unvaccinated. There’s a simp,e solution.

Can somebody clarify a couple things I've seen pop up on social media?

1) "not again!"...did he have it already?

2) Rumor that he is recently vaxxed.

I ask because of experience. In May 2020 I had Covid, full symptems and undoubtedly Covid with a positive test. October 2020 I PCR tested positive again BUT neg to a rapid and spit test. PCR was a false positive. The Doctor that did my rapid test said that the only way to rule out a false positive is a Rapid or saliva test from a laboratory and that the PCR is only machine verified. This machine is unable to tell between the living virus and the dead virus in the same way that a sensitive narcotics kit will count hemp as a drug.

My tinfoil hat theory is he's experiencing the same that I did. The PCR test can give positives for several months after you've lost symptoms of Covid. If I'm Rahmbo in this situation, I'm getting to the ER and getting a legitimate lab test. If its negative, the PGA is going to look foolish.

Rahm got the first shot this week only after being in the protocol

It can only help the premier league. I’ve never seen anything stupider. Rahm should sue the tour.

I don't think "Your honor, I screwed around and found out" is a viable basis for a lawsuit.  Like'em or not, the Tour guidelines are pretty straightforward, and if anything they bent a little and went the extra mile to let him play.

We cant forget that the PGA has a full legal team reviewing their rules to limit liability. I'm sure "forced to withdraw" is similar to "retired in lieu of termination." PGA can turn around and go "Rahm withdrew on his own will".

Rules say he is forced to withdraw, but what if he refused? Is he DQ'd and now its the PGA's liability?

The PGA already looks foolish to anyone with the ability to think critically, logically, and without interference from "feelings."

Oh no doubt. They've absolutely handled this situation the worst they could. I guess I meant "look foolish" as an ankle twister by the league that shall not be named.

Don’t want to be forced to WD? Then get the vaccine months ago. We all know the rules if this scenario happens. It sucks, but the rules are the rules.

No one is going to the PGL over this. The Tour isn’t even going to be testing in a month. By the time the PGL/SL get going (if they do), covid won’t even be the small issue it is now.

I'm there with you. For intents and purposes though, months ago it was not recommended to get the shot if you'd had Covid within 90 days. His "not again!" remarks may have been an indication he potentially fell into that category.

The problem is it is (covid) already a small issue. The tour looks petty and ridiculous for even bringing this to light. Should not have even been discussed much less made a spectacle of in front of millions.

it is embarrassing .

whoever claims the title should be embarrassed

of course they will be laughing all the way to the bank with a title.

what an appropriate break through win it would be for Xander! 😂

They had to let him know without running near a gauntlet of fans to tell him somewhere else. There was no good way to communicate the news.

If there's a backstory to this that stretches back earlier than the May 31 test, it would be interesting to know what advice Rahm has been getting from his management team in recent months.  It's obviously a situation where everyone is trying to do the best they can with available information, and he's the guy who ended up with the undesirable end of the stick here, but his choices are his own.
