There are some Longhorns who would be offended, but it is the NCAA that decided it was a penalty.. not UT.

In all my college years we liked being the team to beat and liked the horns down. I hope our football team can improve so we can see more of it!

somewhat of an argument to be made for a penalty since it's specific ... don't think UT could make it a penalty, but i've read it was the big12 ... "probably" read ... was probably these past four days as i was watching golf at 5 in the morning, so who knows ... Sark gonna have to learn how to say "no" in a not so nice manner if he wants to exploit those resources ...

Just so happened being in England while this little shindig is going on.  Spieth and Morikawa are the only good bets I have going; the rest are pretty much no chance unless the leaders come back to the crowd.

Best golf on TV is the 2 hour highlight show on BBC each night; makes golf channel and regular NBC tour coverage look like a joke. However, the featured group stream from the website are pretty bad.

Having played RSG a few times myself, I'm still holding onto my -15 winner projection and that may be well short.  If 3 or more can keep it low and push each other, then -15 will not be enough.  The course is defenseless this week with nice temps and low wind.  It's nothing like when Darren Clarke won.

But it's all good.  Love this course.  It's fun, great variety, and nasty when the wind is really going.

Good stuff ...

Special memories indeed. We never forget that stuff.

“Simulcast”! That’s the word I should’ve used instead of telecast.. My mistake is ironic considering back in the day, every two mins of a Lakers game, you hear Stu Lantz proclaim this is a SIMULCAST!

Along with the Kings Bob Miller, LA really couldn’t ask for more from the booth. These guys are so iconic. Geez even the Angels had Joe Torre

Yes...the LA area was blessed with some of the very best. Vinny, Miller, Chick, and a very unsung Jim Kelly doing USC games. Once Lantz got acclimated, he and Chick made for an excellent team. Yup...I remember Torre on Angel games, and even further back, Dick Enburg.

Brooksie is such a troll lol, i think we're all gonna be fans of his soon enough.

You know, my mind is changing about Brooks. I saw the clip where he says "love my driver", and I had to laugh. I thought to myself, good one Brooksie. Also liking BDC less and less.

When Ben Curtis won, there wasn't much wind on the weekend either. It was sunny on Sunday and he was one under. But then again when Greg won in 1993, it was fairly calm too and he was 13 under par. I guess they made the course a bit easier than in the past. When Sandy Lyle won in 1985, he was plus two. The course definitely needs wind as a defense or make the fairways very narrow.

Oosthuizen and Rose are enigmas for me. Both have won a major, so they should have this monkey off their backs. Both have been in contention so often after that, but winning the second one seems to be just as hard for them as getting the first one for all the "best players without a major".
The other thing, which strikes me is that I always seem to forget just how good Dustin Johnson is, when he is on his game.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Rory making his back door top-10 run early.

🤣

As usual, he's playing well because there's no pressure on him and he's not in contention!

On a different note, I see Adam Scott is continuing with his vomit themed wardrobe today. 🤢 Pretty sure he's also rocking the baggy pleated pants.

What a bummer to see Rickie fading again. Headlines dominated by the likes of BK, BD, PR, and others, Rickie keeps his head down, plays golf, and does a few commercials. When he popped onto the scene I would have thought that he would be a multiple major winner, top 5 golfer for an extended period and be in contention at many more tournaments than not..

But a player of his length SHOULD be able manage is length ; realizing the penalty for inaccurate tee shots......so while you lose the advantage of length,  you don't shoot yourself out of the event......whether it's Augusta,  The Open , The U.S.OPEN or The Players......course and self management is prevalent to win these events......not expecting Tiger like consistency but like Tiger at hoylake in 06 , take advantage of your strengths......BD is really long with his irons..... but control of irons is much easier from the fairway than the deep stuff.....

I agree. Its almost as if Bryson is playing "golf swing" and not "golf", ironically something Tiger would get accused of.

Your point is fair, Bryson tried the driver and basically shot himself out of the tournament on day 1. Guy needs to learn some sort of "fair finder" shot, doesn't matter if he hits the mega cut 275. (but idk, he's also on tour and I'm not exactly warming up for my tee time in the British right now).
