so overblown , the downward Horns sign has been around as long as the upright Hook Em sign has been in existence, in TX you do one or another...Im no snowflake so please dont include me in that group just because I pull for my Horns and sing the Eyes of Texas proudly

My Grandfather and I watched the games on the tube with Vin...then would switch to radio to continue listening to him when Jerry Doggett or Ross Porter would do the TV feed for an inning or two. I think back in the day, they were true simulcasts. So no delay, at least none that I could detect. Now there's a delay in case a player says a naughty word...God forbid. lol

Special memories indeed. We never forget that stuff.

“Simulcast”! That’s the word I should’ve used instead of telecast.. My mistake is ironic considering back in the day, every two mins of a Lakers game, you hear Stu Lantz proclaim this is a SIMULCAST!

Along with the Kings Bob Miller, LA really couldn’t ask for more from the booth. These guys are so iconic. Geez even the Angels had Joe Torre

Yeah he’s in his head. Happens to plenty of greats but it has lasted a while now, but I still think he will have a resurgence.

Rory was very close prior to covid to getting back to where he was 8 years ago, but he lost it during lockdown. He’s got to build his confidence back up and that’s a long process.

I don’t think being a podcaster, media darling and PAC commissioner is helping him. He’s also very vocal with his opinions on every issue in golf. Currently, I just see him giving into too many distractions.

He also moves his head too much in his swing.  He would be more consistent with less head movement.

He's on the short list of contenders this week.

As the leaderboard becomes more condensed over the weekend, he actually seems more comfortable up there.  I also think his abbreviated follow through is well suited to links golf.  Anyways, I'll be pulling for him down the stretch, but the odds are always long relatively speaking.

Actually, I just figured it out. We are somehow listening to two different feeds.

If you all are having problems with "on-course transmissions", well, it just occurred to me that I have no "on-course transmissions".

The coverage I'm watching is showing the players playing, with commentary coming from (invisible) people in a booth somewhere, that are unseen. I have no commentary coming from any on-course people. Some just mentioned a problem with a female commentator's mic. I have no female commentator. Sounds like just four or five guys. Think I hear Feherty, and someone actually mentioned Bones and Paul (Azinger) by name.

I believe what I'm watching is NBC's attempt to adjust the R&A's global feed to the US audience. They appear to be using the video, but have cut the sound and are replacing the R&A commentary with their own. (It is why they never appear, they can't be in the global feed.) But they really are tilting it to the US audience. They'll announce all the shots from the global feed, but will add color and backstory commentary about US golfers. They've actually made it sound like it is US coverage.

My suspicion is that the people having trouble with static are getting the full R&A feed - both video and audio. And apparently some of the on-course audio is messed up. Why I am seeing the coverage I'm seeing, and others in the US are seeing something different I do not know. But it is clear that all the confusion came from the fact that we are all watching the same video feed, but are listening to different audio.

No, sorry. We are all getting the same NBC/GC feed, with world feed R&A pictures and NBC commentators and direction. There are a handful over in Sandwich (Todd Lewis, Bones McKay, John Wood, Karen Stupples, Notah Begay) but the rest (Hicks, Azinger, Feherty, Jacobsen, Koch, etc) are in studios in Stamford calling the action remotely. I clearly recall Stups breaking up on one call but I seem to also remember static on the sound from people in Stamford - I want to say Steve Sands, but it was early and I wasn't totally awake.

It was probably more because of your lefthandedness 😆

Oh they got that message across pretty well when I saw that my rental set looked more like the "back shop lefty lost & found" bag.

Just so happened being in England while this little shindig is going on.  Spieth and Morikawa are the only good bets I have going; the rest are pretty much no chance unless the leaders come back to the crowd.

Best golf on TV is the 2 hour highlight show on BBC each night; makes golf channel and regular NBC tour coverage look like a joke. However, the featured group stream from the website are pretty bad.

Having played RSG a few times myself, I'm still holding onto my -15 winner projection and that may be well short.  If 3 or more can keep it low and push each other, then -15 will not be enough.  The course is defenseless this week with nice temps and low wind.  It's nothing like when Darren Clarke won.

But it's all good.  Love this course.  It's fun, great variety, and nasty when the wind is really going.

I was just watching, and saw him hug his caddie...and thought, wow his caddie must be a jockey in his spare time.

Then I saw the the others in his group.

Wow...don't think anyone asks to play through his group!

Jonathan Thomson stands 6'10".

Great story - he beat leukaemia as a child.

Bryson long too.

There are some Longhorns who would be offended, but it is the NCAA that decided it was a penalty.. not UT.

In all my college years we liked being the team to beat and liked the horns down. I hope our football team can improve so we can see more of it!

Thank you for inspiring me to find some Turd Ferguson clips. Hadn’t seen it before. Funny stuff! 😂

There were some golden years of SNL.  Seems every decade or so there is a true spark.  I am too old to stay up that late anymore but what little I've seen and read there isn't anything worth staying up for these days.
