Man.. I didn’t know Peter Aliss died. I guess I just never saw that headline back in December 2020. That makes me sad. As I age I’m watching less and less basketball and baseball, and I just hate the reality of losing the voices that have been around for so so long. I hold my breathe that Vin Scully doesn’t go. Miss him calling Dodger Baseball.

As a native Angeleno, nothing beat being at a Dodger game, and even though the action is right in front of you, listening to the reverberation around the stadium coming from all the transistor radios turned on to listen to Vin call the action. The guy was in a class by himself.

I'm fine with him. Actually a bit funny to watch him act like an idiot. 

 

In truth, he was a bit of a tool even before he did his whole Megatron - Optimus Prime transformation thing. Seems to be getting worse as time goes by. I mean telling Cobra his driver sucked? Who does that? (Note to Bryson - Cobra, like every OEM sponsor for every golfer on tour, are paying you to promote their clubs.)

 

He really should hire a good PR firm and have a specialist teach him how to control his mouth (and behavior). 

 

Unlike most other sports, golfers can make far more from endorsements and sponsorships than they can through actual prize money playing the game. To take an extreme case? Phil has $94.6 million in career winnings. but is estimated (by Forbes) to have made $750 million in endorsements. Money from his sponsors (including Callaway) far exceeds what he won in tournaments. 

 

So Bryson, is it really that great of an idea to publicly trash talk your equipment sponsor's clubs? Get in petty pissing matches with other golfers? Insult your hosts at a major (even if inadvertently) by walking on to the 1st tee with headphones?

Up here in Canada all of the early coverage is on Golf Channel since our federal govt has not allowed us to get Peacock. The static during portions of the announce feed is there today and was there yesterday as well. I noticed it did not affect the sound on commercials.

I'm saying that not all golfers perform on every course or having a playing style that suits every course. So though we think hit it far should work, it might not for Bryson. It's like the opposite of Kevin Na, who says he can only win on certain course. I think its also a Tiger hangover that we expect guys to be hot every week. Think about your own games, some weeks its easy, other weeks you can't find the clubface.
