I have the 19* with the RDX 80s and played today for the 1st time with it. I don't like the shaft, just does not work for me. Now it was a small sample size but it just did not wow me either off the deck or tee. It will be coming out later today and a GD AD DI 80x put in.

Lot of talk of shafts in these, I like it, let's keep it up.  I have both with RDX 80 S, Im getting excellent numbers with both regarding spin, however I could use a little more launch on the 17.  I do have an DD DI 7x hanging around I can throw in there, but curious if it will be too light.

I would possibly look at the 21, the 19 might be way longer (distance) than your 7 wood.

I don’t know .. my 7w is turned down to 19.5 and i carry it 225

One of the few clubs I miss letting go is the Adams Speedline Classic Hybrid/FW. I’m hoping the UW brings back those fond memories.

I have one of those laying around somewhere, was a super solid, muted head.

Had a V2 86g stiff shaft in it and absolutely killed it. Got to tinkering out a Matrix 7M3 Black Tie in it and it was never the same. I was a complete idiot for letting it go.  Should’ve just put another V2 in it. Hoping the UW has a similar profile.

Hit my 19* UW for the first time today.  Really like it.  As expected, I was seeing basically 5W numbers with it (nearly identical total, slightly higher ball speeds with 5w).  I've played a draw-biased 5W the past two years (Mavrik Max), and with my general right-to-left flight, I wanted something more neutral in that spot.  The UW seems to give me exactly what I wanted.  My misses today with 5W were left, and my misses with the UW were right.  I didn't mind the RDX 70 6.0 shaft at all, but I think my timing will be a bit better with a shaft I've played before--likely Ventus Red 7s.  Given the versatile head shape, I expect the UW to go straight in the bag next year.

Just the 20...it spins great..I don't have the speed anymore for the 17...and the 14 I don't even look at..lol

Edited by Shakespeare
They are the version heads with the blue and white lines on the sole...they tended to spin more then version 2 with the gold lines

Recently built up a 21° UW w/ a Ventus Blue 9TX. Went the 21° due to anything around 18° being to close to my 3 wood in terms of gapping.

Have about 5 rounds under the belt with the new stick and I couldn’t be more stoked. Thing is sooo much more versatile for me then a 5 or 7 wood and spin consistency has been near perfect in terms of not getting any weird flyers or freak balls like I sometimes do with higher lofted fairways.

I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on the 21.  Fits great between my 4W and 4i and way more versatile than my 18 degree Srixon U45 was.  Although I do miss the driving iron off the tee quite a bit.

I see you also have an 18 degree driving iron - where does the 21 UW fit in relation to that?

I play weak lofts in my irons and like a 3 wedge set up (48* Pw, 54* Sw, and 60* Lw) which leaves me an extra slot in my bag at the top. The UW and DI carry just about the same yardage for me but total yardage and roles are completely different. UW hits the high ball for holding greens and hitting to specific spots off the tee if needed whereas the DI is primarily a low flight, off the tee club that runs for days (my go-to fairway finder). The DI keeps the ball flight super low, carries about 255-260 and rolls out to around 280 if conditions arent too soft. UW carries that same number but pretty much sticks right around 265ish.

Bag setup is kinda weird on paper, but all my yardages are covered and Im able to hit any shot I need on the course. I read someones post that said "if you need both a hammer and wrench then why not have both handy" and for me I couldnt agree more.

Sounds like similar uses / needs for the UW and DI as me, except I carry the extra wedge.  While both can kind've do similar things, they definitely have different applications.  Gets me thinking of going back to a 46/52/58 setup in lieu of my current 46/50/54/60 setup.  I just take too many "full swing" shots with my 50 and 54 to justify losing one right now.

Think about the UW to replace my 20 degree hybrid. My 4 iron is at 22 degrees. Will the 21 create enough of a gap with the length everyone is talking about? or should I be looking at the 19 degree? for reference 4i is Srixon 545 decently quick. Thanks!

I also play a Srixon 545 4i at stock loft (22 degrees), the 21 degree UW is perfect.  I feel 19 would have left too big of a gap between the 4i.

For reference my carry numbers are below for these (2) clubs.  19 degrees would have gotten too close to my 4W and too far from the 4i

22 4i - 210-220

21 UW - 230-240

Thanks for that! Your distances are almost identical to mine and that is exactly the number I'm looking for. Have you or anyone else tried the 17 as a 3/4 wood replacement?

No, I love my 4 wood, still rocking the 2016 M2 HL - it's a cannon and won't leave the bag until it breaks.

I've seen several others in this thread go 17-21 exclusively below driver, but I have not tried myself.

Anyone compared this to a utility iron?

I have a Srixon ZX utility that I love but I also have a Callaway gift card 😂

Yes, it takes the spot of my Srixon U45 18 degree that I LOVE.

This club is just a lot more versatile on approach shots for me.  Tee shots U45 wins all day, but this club can be flighted down pretty impressively, so not giving up so much.

Appreciate it!  I’m using the utility more for tee shots. Hmm. Decisions lol
