Wearing brands that you don’t hit? Exp: pxg clothes but no clubs?

Hi I hope this makes sense I have a stupid question.

 

is it weird to wear PXG clothes but I don’t have any PXG clubs?

 

I dig there style but I don’t hit there clubs.

Would I do it? No, but I don't really care for any equipment company's clothing/hats (PXG, TM, Titleist, etc.). At the same time I wouldn't think it was weird if I saw a guy in a PXG shirt even though he didn't have any PXG clubs.

 

Just don't be that guy who shows up in head to toe PXG (or any brand) gear including the bag. If I see someone like that I fully expect them to work in sales for that company. If they don't then I lose all respect for them.

Though I've played the same equipment brand for years, my clothing has never reflected my equipment.   I am not one to advertise golf brands on my clothing, not until I get paid. lol

I'm definitely not one for prominent logos, especially with equipment manufacturers. I have my brand preferences like anyone else, but I like to think I'm not anyone's billboard (not that I'm good enough for anyone to care what's in my bag or the clothes I wear). About the only logos I ever rep at a given time would be either the sports logo of my alma mater or the logo of the company I work for.

 

In general, I like to wear clothing brands that reflect my personal style, with said clothing having as few prominent logos as possible.

I just like the  skull head that pxg has ,

but I feel like it’s crazy to wear clothes with clubs I don’t have.

 

 

I got a lot of Callaway shirts, because I hit them ,

I have Taylor made shirts because I hit them .

 

but I don’t have pxg, cobra ping  etc.

I have dozens of FJ shirts and socks and Titelist "Boonies" that I wear regularly and I'm not currently playing their equipment or wearing their shoes. I reckon an old Cameron putter does count though...

Still can’t do it. I just recently started being able to do adidas and Nike and it still feels weird!lol!

Wear lots of Nike but never had a Nike club.   Same for Titleist, they make some cool hats but there's no loyalty to the brand here.

Never.  Not into being a billboard.  Avoid overt OEM branding in most all instances.  Especially club manufacturers.  All the caps are from courses I've played, plus two with the olde english D.  Branding on shirts has to be discreet, often with a course name of greater prominence.  Do have a FJ DryJoy pullover that I use.  But found it at a thrift store for $5, so it doesn't count.  

 

Now if a company wants to flash me some coin, I'll sell myself out.  Cheap.

Golf clothing is comfortable, looks good and performs well.  I buy it.

 

Currently sporting a Srixon hat, UA 1/4 zip rain/wind top and whatever Nike/Ping shirt I grab in the morning for the day's round.  Lots of Eddie Bauer active wear makes appearances at the golf course too.

 

I go through phases when it comes to wearing advertising.  I don't like to be overt, but I sport plenty of tee shirts that would suggest otherwise.

If it is currently in vogue wear it, who cares if it matches your equipment and the comments about not being a billboard or being paid for advertising a brand are really funny.

I wear whatever I feel comfortable in and like the look of. Lately I've been buying and wearing a lot of Callaway clothing cause the price is good, fits me well and it's really quality stuff. Now how much Callaway equipment do I play? 2 wedges and sometimes the ball. Would I still wear Callaway clothing if I had zero Callaway in my bag? Sure.

 

This would be the same for any other brand.

I wear whatever reasonable golf hats I manage to find in 2XL. Currently have one from Callaway, and some random hat from Bandon

 

Never underestimate the value of not having a watermelon for a head, I never get to buy cool hats I see

A pain I know all too well.  I have a big head too and haver an added problem of being extra wide.  I can never find fitted hats that fit at all.  Also when I do finds a fitted hat that fits, the brim is still the same as smaller sizes and the shape is off, so I can never get a nice curve to the brim.  

 

Same problem with sunglasses.  Nearly all "XL" sunglasses are not nearly wide enough or the arms long enough to properly go around my ears. 

 

The ONLY thing that matches, is I'm currently using a TM glove and my irons are TM... although I am not loyal to any company for gloves.  I just pick whatever is on sale and fits.

Very mixed bag of branded clubs here.

 

Should I be loading my bag with multiple shirts and change to one that matches the equipment brand to be used before every shot ?  Is this why my h/cap is upwardly trending ?

I think it is sort of a bad look, mainly because PXG is trying to position itself as an ultra premium brand…sort of like someone wearing a Ferrari hat and not driving one
