Ever bought the same club twice?

I had my entire bag stolen out of the range parking lot. Lost a Studio Stainless Newport 2 in virtually new condition amongst other things. Went to a local golf shop to buy new woods, and found a 910 D2 that looked suspiciously similar; upon closer inspection, I recognized the paint chips and marks and scuffs that were the exact same as the driver that had been in my stolen bag. I was unfortunately not able to recover other clubs, but at least I got one back.

I haven't but I'd definitely buy again my set of Bridgestone J36 "Black" irons. Those were limited edition and sweet!

I used to play a 716 T-MB 17' 2 iron.  Loved it, but it got tweaked, so I bought another one, which lasted till I bought 620s.  Then I bought the 718 T-MB 17' 2 iron currently in my bag, which is very similar.  I don't fix what works really well.

Multiple times..sometimes things just don’t work the first time around. I compare it to day old pizza, much better the second day..

Sold a set of Miura baby blades and felt like I shot the albatross in the RIme of the Ancient Mariner. Coulnd't get the baby blades but got the 101MB. Feel much better now.

Had a set of Nike Vapor Pro irons that I absolutely loved (Nike, I mean Endo, made some damn good irons). Got the itch for something new, bad decision. A month later, I bought the same set back, too bad the guy I sold them to had pulled my Nippon prototype shafts. I bought the heads and shafts back and paid my club builder (for a second time) to build and MOI them.

Cally mickelson 2.0 wedge.. bought a extra one as backup... callaway md4 52° had before sold and have again and just ordered mizuno t22 52° 2 of them same loft different colors... and last but not least... i had a nike covert driver and whole matching set which i sold... i saw the covert driver i had on craiglist in like new condtion for $60... yeah re bought that too.

I neglected to mention that I've also bought the same model club several times.  I've probably owned 4-5 G400 LST 8.5 heads.  And now I am apparently collecting Cobra L4V heads as well.  But this was the first time I nearly purchased the *same* *exact* club I had sold on GolfWRX, then it ended up on eBay.

This could quite possibly be the most golfwrx question ever posed on golfwrx 😁.  I have bought the same PXG set of irons 3 times, THIS YEAR. I’ve also bought two sets of ZX7s this year. Both are outstanding irons. My 2022 resolution is to not sell the PXG irons again. Best irons I’ve ever played, for me. On top of that, I went through several drivers this year and finally went back to the Epic Flash Sub Zero Single Diamond head. I’m not sure what it is but this head just works for me.

note - this doesn’t include putters. I think almost every putter I have owned, I have bought twice.

I have two sets of J40 DPC irons currently.  Gave one set to my son and re-shafted them for him.  I am currently gaming the I210 irons since they are a touch more forgiving for me.  Will probably never sell the J40s.

I've bought P790s 3 times with different shafts, each time hoping I wouldn't hit a 7 iron from 170-210. All of the sets I've had have been so inconsistent on distance, they have been basically unplayable. Also tried the 1 generation old SIM 3x and can't get along with it either. I do have 3 M5's if that counts...

Haha.  I was going to stock up on M6 3 woods.  I was totally convinced that they were the best fairway metal ever produced.  Bought 2.  Then I did a stupid golfWRX thing and attempted to shaft them both with the same shaft/same specs/same swing weight.  Then *poof* it stopped working for me.  SOLD on GolfWRX.  onto the next.

If it's about multiple purchases of the same model, my total goes up a bit.  I've had two sets of Precept Tour Premium irons, two Precept 260LS drivers, three sets of Ram FX Nickel Tour Grinds, two Golden Ram TW801 drivers...

I bought the vokey 200 series (54/14 and 60/12) 3 times in college because we played so much the grooves wore out in a semester and I wish I would have replaced them more often now that I look back.  I probably played quite a bit with grooves that were far too worn.

Yup. 3 or maybe 4 sets of Cobra MB / CBs. 3 Sets of Cobra Tour Forged One Lengths. I've had multiple Newport 1s and I think 2 or 3 spyder putters. 

 

What I've learned, if it doesn't suit my eye at address then I'm not screwing with it. Offset must be minimal. Size must be small. Topline must be thinnish.

I not only bought the same model, I bought the same set of clubs back that I had traded in.  I was playing a set of Mizuno MP-32s and while I loved the soft feel, I started listening to everyone who said I had no business playing a blade so I traded them in for a set of Callaway X-Tours which were more of a cavity back.  No matter how much I practiced I just couldn't develop a feel for where the X-Tours were striking the ball.  After eight weeks, my old MP-32s were still sitting in the used club rack at Golfsmith, so I traded the X-Tours in and got by original set of MP-32s back.  I played those clubs for the next 17 years and I never regretted it for a moment.  To this day no other club has provided that buttery soft feel and feedback, but after 17 years it was time to upgrade and take advantage of more recent clubhead and shaft technology so I am playing a combo set of Mizuno JPX 921 Forged and Tours.  For what its worth I never thought the MP-32s played like a blade, to me the cut muscle design played more like a cavity back with adequate forgiveness and incredible feel, but that is a discussion for another time.
