TNT and/or Capital One paid the fee to the PGA Tour and they have in all of the other Match events. Trust me if the PGA Tour is promoting this you can be rest assured they own/co-own it whether professionals are playing or not.

Yeah, Phil didn’t have to pay it.  It was paid for him out of his potential earnings but, yeah, he didn’t have to pay it.

Not sure I'd expected quite so much meh for this overall, though it certainly doesn't live up to the good times of Tiger vs Sergio under the lights in prime time or the first "The Match" with Tiger vs Phil.

 

Having players from other sports do crossover events can certainly be fun. MTV's Rock 'n Jock softball games from back in the day were pretty good quality, unless that's just my nostalgia-colored lenses. Considering it's in Vegas and features two of the biggest names in their respective sports I could see this being good for the game overall if they play well. IIRC Curry is scratch.

 

This won't have everyone in the clubhouse tuning in like Tiger v Phil, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a decent draw at the bar and reason enough for a few cookouts or whatever.

 

I'd much prefer a Rham vs Finau, Anyone vs Rory, etc., though.

I know that names Curry and Mahomes but honestly the other two simply don't register much in the same way that I am sure that a match between British footballers would in the US.

actually am.  Just not pro level.  Each game has changed so far in a negative way that I just can’t.   I Quit baseball in 94 after the strike.  Was a huge cubs fan.  Never watched NFL - very much prefer college football.  And last NBA game I followed was the Jordan era.  They stopped playing defense after that , and the game turned into a joke.

Why can't we have LIV against the PGA, we have the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup so why not as I believe everyone would get a long just fine.

PL gets more television time here in the states than does our domestic league after MLS went to a deal with Apple TV that basically hides the matches.

 

Who are some particular good sticks?  Kane has the look to him.  John Stones as well.
