Putter that restored your confidence inside 5 feet?

I struggle with putts that you expect to make but are just long enough to make you 2nd guess yourself.

Any putters that you've found that are money from this distance?

You'll have to find that putter yourself honestly. Something that I could be super confident with you could hate and the other way around. That's why putters are so personal.

Odyssey 2-ball.

I was playing a mallet that my lag putting was on-point, to the extent that I would drain at least 1-3 long putts a round. But my putts inside 5/6 feet with it were garbage. I switched and have found my happy place with both, but it really is just dependent on what you like.

I find that putters that I love for shorter putts are not as good on longer ones. Typically, this means I like blades on short and medium putts (anything inside 10feet) but I struggle with them for 30ft+ shots. Right now I have a happy little medium with a small mid mallet but it's not forgiving really. Anything off center will get punished pretty badly but I love the feel and the alignment, so I'm sticking with.

It's not a putter. It's confidence and your stroke. I was travelling a bit over the winter last year and was playing with an old tour Rossie. It's still in the bag, as I just gained confidence and comfort with it. (My normal Scotty's are in the closet)

Spider tour. Still feel like I can make any putt with it.

I've found that a bit of concentrated practice makes these putts much more automatic. Make 10 4-footers in a row, working around the hole so the break is different on every one. Make 9 and miss, start over. If that gets too easy, make 5 footers, or 6 footers. Do it enough in practice, you'll do it on the course. And practice is a whole lot cheaper than a new putter.

Spider X with the 6g weights added to the head and Left Hand Low putting technique has transformed my putting since starting with the putter and that method.

Practice is certainly key, but...

The Odyssey #7 did it for me. Started my journey with a Ping BeCu Zing 2, then went to a Rossie, tried a Mini-Marxman for the plumber's neck and didn't like it, then found my #7 and it just did the job better than any of the others - for me.

But...I've also played it exclusively for 8 years and I practice putting like a religion. davep up above nails it. Find a putter you like, then do what he says.

I gained confidence on anything inside 6 six by doing a lot of practice with a putting mirror. It made a huge difference in my alignment and stroke. Read the break, align and hit the putt. It's not the putter.

This is part of it, in my opinion, find something you like and stick with it. I know that other people have had different experiences, but I just don't see any reason to change out my putter. I'm using a Ping B60 G5i that I got new close to 15 years ago. I absolutely know I can line it up correctly, and hit my lines. If I get a little wonky, I know its ME, and I know what kind of practice will get me back to normal.

Agree. For the most part it isn’t the putter, it’s the putterer.

I've had a few, and each one had other limitations.

Cameron Red X2 (center shafted)... money from inside 6 ft, but had trouble lagging it close enough to get into "auto" range.

Odyssey Protype #9... great for short, very controlled strokes. But when I got to midrange (12-18 ft) I had lots of pulls. The toe would kinda flip and I'd miss a foot left. I could feel it happening but couldn't stop it.

Currently, Ping Tatum... best of both worlds for me. Great distance control, great line control. The interesting part is having to recalibrate my green-reading. Now that my eyes, brain, and putter all agree on "straight", I have to train myself to pick the right line for the speed again.

These were the best for me of all time when I games them a few years back.

The Odyssey Number 7 is a short putt machine. I have no idea why this is soooooo large!

I find more confidence on all putts with a larger/heavier putter. Picked up an Odyssey Tri-Ball SRT on craigslist 3 or 4 years ago, and it's never leaving the bag.

For me, Straight Back Straight Through putters work better for me in short putts.

Odyssey 7 is growing on me. I think if I can stick with it for more than a couple rounds it would be money.

I've been averaging around 30 putts per round with my Scotty Phantom X 8. It took some time to get used to the look as I'd always played blade-style putters but now, I feel super confident about anything inside of 10 feet.
