Wow, it seems it really is hit or miss as to whether TM tries to get back to the stock swing weight of D3. I went to the local trade-in event and ordered a SIM 9º with Hzrdus Smoke Green at 45". This is of course, in Canada, so I will report what it's actually delivered as when the time comes. Congrats to all of you who received clubs at/near your desired specs.

Haha yup. 95% of the general golfing population probably don’t even know what swing weight is. Yet it seems like people on this forum obsess over it. I wonder if we did a blind test, how many people would be able to tell if the club is under or over the stock swing weight?

It would be very high if extremes were tested (not like D3 vs D4, more extreme). I actually like a low swing weight, D2 range, because I like super stiff shafts. But, if you add too much weight to the head, I cant stop hooking it. On the opposite end of the spectrum if you go too light (C range) you have no idea where the head is in the swing and it screws up timing significantly. It's not going to have a dramatic impact if the club is in a normal range but if it's extreme on either end of the spectrum, it's going to cause havoc on the swing and your results. Pros play everyday so I think its even more important for us weekend warriors because we need all the help we can get with timing, which is what escapes you when you play less often. Folks here obsess about everything that helps shave a few strokes so we can beat our buds. Thats the name of the game and the point of this site!

Without question I can tell the difference between, say, D2 and D4 for a given club. But, I've been around swingweight and loft/lie machines since I was a kid. My older brothers started teaching me how to build and work on clubs when I was about 12 or 13, almost 35 years ago.

I used to love that big Golfworks catalog just as much as the Sears Christmas catalog!

Today I had my first chance to play the SIM outdoors after a month of simulator time. This driver is here to stay for sure.

My 9.0 with an Atmos Black launched plenty high in chilly and windy conditions, and really excelled into the wind. I wouldn't call it super low spin but definitely lower spin than my old M5. I cleared several critical bunkers and hazards by margins much larger than expected. Better yet, I got to see what the driver did with a few bad swings. My toe slap knuckle ball is still a miss I have with any driver, but by and large I found the SIM to be fade biased which is great for me. The Evo 5 I panic bought after reading about launch/spin concerns is pretty much a useless item now for me, since the Atmos was proven in some tough conditions.

One self note, the shallow face on the SIM requires a lot more attention to tee height and setup.

Found this set up to me money. Was touching 183 ball speeds and almost 13 degrees launch with this.

I tried that setup but found the face to shut down hard. I thought I found my setup after last week's round. But last week was played in a no wind environment. Played yesterday in a 3 club wind and had a few balls go hard right in that wind with this setup:

After about 10 holes yesterday I moved things to a bit more draw bias setting and played really well the rest of the way. So I spent some time on the launch monitor today comparing both setups for 1 thing only...right side spin. The above setup imparted 400-600rpm right side spin. The following setup got me to between 100 and 300 rpm right side spin.

I play a fade so I already impart right spin. Looks like I don't need help imparting that spin. The more draw bias setup reduced right spin and also allowed me to get back to a standard loft setup.

So, definitely a fade biased head in neutral setting. But a touch of draw bias to reduce the right spin could be what I'm after. I set my m5 up to be neutral and then put lead tape on the heel so the above should be close to how I played m5.

Hit it real good. Feels and sounds amazing. I play a fade so I have the heavier weight to slight draw and 4g weight out towards toe. Really need to get it on a launch monitor next week but so far passed the first test. Can tell right away if it will have no chance.

Hit the sim outdoors today and it wasnt any better than my epic flash. I was also reminded that I hate the dull thud sound that TM drivers make.

My exact experience against my flash sz……..Nice driver and I enjoyed hitting it but really did nothing that my cally doesn't...….Only difference is, I personally do like the sound of the sim.

Is anyone not getting low spin with their SIM? Lol.. my old m2 was a 8*(7.5*) head that spun very low so i opted for the 9* sim and my spin is regularly in the 2800+ range even with my Ventus Black 7x velocore. Its obviously way more consistent in finding the fairway but tends to balloon every so often. Anyone else noticing the same results? I might look into trading for a SIM 8* head to see if it helps. Other than that this SIM feels absolutely amazing! Blown away by the sound and feel of it!

I'm getting good spin reduction, but it's not knuckleball low. 9 degree with an Atmos TS Black. It was in the 40's and I was using a Project A for most of my round, no problems launching or spinning a softer ball like that.

What is your spin range if you dont mind me asking? I want to eventually live in the 2300 range. Still tweaking the settings so hopefully i can dial it in. Ballspeed is 170+ so dont wanna get lower spin than that. Any suggestions

I have an AD VR shaft to put in, so I figured I would order a no upgrade shaft and sell it.

 

What no upcharge shaft and flex do you think would command the highest price in the BST? Diamana 60 X? Smoke Green?
