Rory/DJ vs Fowler/Wolff on TV May 17 (NO POLITICS, COVID-19 POSTS)

Hey everyone, hope you had a good weekend on and off the course. While it was nice to see live golf again, I thought it was good but disappointing and rather boring. I liked seeing the players involved. Rory and DJ that would make a great singles match in the RC in itself, Ricky really needs to get rid of the tash, it makes him look older than he is, and with wolfe, fantastic young player with a great authentic swing. I liked the players carry their own bags which all looked great btw and playing in shorts is going to be the way forward in the future, The course was ok for an exclusive club, a little too open for my liking but thats just me. Personally I think it could have been better if the entire world of golf was involved not just the men. I think it if this was set up like golf 6s would have made it more exciting and would have showcased Golf as a whole imo.

overall, not bad for a great cause. Could have been better, but thankful to have golf back and thankful to the frontline staff who are fighting to save lives on the wards in hospitals and medical centres.

Man I wish golf could always be played at this pace on tour, so refreshing

Shorts was a great idea

Please allow rangefinders asap for massive pace improvements when a player is way out of position

amazing how short the players made the course look in very soft conditions

I was out enjoying a local round myself during the event, but watched some of the replay before bed last night. Man, you guys complain about everything. It was a short notice thrown together event. I had fun watching it, and yes, there could have been improvements and the commentary was a bit annoying, but if you just take it for what it was, it was fun. The tie breaker was the most disappointing thing for me, but I get why it was done that way. Rickie was the underdog the whole day, but I do not know who they could have gotten as his partner instead of MW. That can guy can drive the ball, but wasn’t much of a factor outside that...

LOL some of you will whine about anything.

I thought it was pretty good. I casually watched the last half. The simplicity of the broadcast, basic camera angles, not much overproduction, just 4 guys mic'd up playing golf. Carry bags, shorts, no caddies. No crowds, no mashed potato guy. Just golf. Glad I was able to watch some of it.

Each to their own but I thought it was terrible. My two main golf watching friends and I rarely agree on anything but last night we were in complete agreement. Starved of live golf for 2 months, I didn’t even watch the end of it before heading to bed. Might have missed something? Sure. Was I bothered that I might? Absolutely not.

I missed the 'you da man!' guy. Seems like they could have invited the members to walk along and serve as the gallery. A golf course is so open social distancing would not a problem. But I guess they wanted to avoid any criticism.

What were you expecting that disappointed you? It was four players on a great course, with limited cameras to film. It was just what I thought it was going to be, and I enjoyed it. I mentioned earlier that they should have had another match at the same time to avoid the dead time waiting for players to walk to their shots, but I can see how in today's environment that may not have been so easy to put together.

I enjoyed it, but I think that this could have been better on a tape delay so they could edit out the time between shots. Lots of dead time. Hence I fell asleep. You could have let them get 5-6 holes in before started the broadcast and been perfect. They could have shown them walking and talking but maybe there was not much of that going on I don't know.

(1) I was completely underwhelmed by the course. I am a complete golf fanatic and I know I was supposed be in awe, however it felt like seeing behind the curtain in the "Wizrd of Oz". Not much there, there. Yes I get Donald Ross, and perhaps it was in part due to the limited TV production, but now I am afraid to see Pine Valley- rather just leave it in my imagination....

(2) DJ looked a bit "soft" around the middle. Yes, relatively speaking he is ripped, but I swear he looked 10+ lbs up around the belly and arms were skinny....still gret shape, but not what I am used to seeing out of him week in and week out.

For the record I am a DJ fan, Rors, DJ and Justin Thomas are my co-favorites at the moment.

No? Yes?

TV distorts a lot. First time I saw DJ in person, he looked like Big Bird. Insanely lanky but didn't "feel" overly tall. If you want to see Pine Valley, go watch the match between Littler and Nelson to get a feel for the course. My old coach got to play it last year and he posted a few IG stories while he was there... it's definitely unique and cool to see.

For me... most sports are way different & better in person. Even Bethpage doesn't feel "cool" on TV, but once you walk around there and watch how guys play it, it's a really interesting design.

I'm with you on the course. Basically miles of fairway, little to no ruff, sand dunes and water, with some tricked out green surfaces. Would I like to play it, of course I would.

Donald Ross was a subtle genius. Pinehurst #2 is much the same, there are no holes that look intimidating or make your jaw drop when standing on the tee. In fact it's almost impossible to lose a ball on that course. Its more like playing chess, you can play it safe or take more aggressive lines, then once you get around the greens things get really interesting.

Nice diversion, enjoyed it for what it was, and my expectations weren’t all that high. Rory seemed a little more energized and it was needed. +1 on him in this format.

Loved the course. Hard to get the reality of playing it from watching them once they go from shot to shot.

Would love to play it - looks interesting and a challenge.
