HOTTER!  bring it on!  Turn up the heat! 🤣   However they might get a "reprieve" by playing only 3 rounds...   yesterday's high was 97

Ali Whitaker mentioned a typhoon 🌪️ Is expected to make landfall near Kasumigaseki over Saturday/Sunday. Hence the speculation that the tournament will be shortened to 54 holes.

International Golf Federation's role is more than just the Olympics, they are the intern ational body that conducts research and advocacy for golf.  They will produce marketing research on behalf of some federations, etc.

So, yes, I think that unless the Japanese Golf Federation which markets and promotes the growth of golf in Japan and Asia Pacific, has a different number than the IGF, their numbers would be more accurate than Golf Digest.  After all, this is the body that would administer the Handicap system in Japan and golf courses would be members of this organization.

Thanks for prompting me to look more into the International Golf Federation.

It's more useless than I first thought.

Income is from the Olympic Committee, that honorable, trustworthy group.

It takes in $76,000 and pays out $1 million in salaries.

The USGA, R&A, PGA of America and different golf tours (PGA, European Tour, LPGA gave them "loans" to pay those salaries and they get a spot on the "board." They even get their photos on the site.

Haha. It seems more like something from The Onion or SNL.

They put out a paper a few years ago about doping in golf. OK.

And about transgender acceptance and "blah, blah, blah" for golf.

They have nothing to do with handicaps.

Golf courses are not "members."

Here's what it does: It takes money from golf entities so they can be in the Olympics. It's like something from The Soprano's. 🙂🙂

Golf courses are not members of the IGF ... the National Federations are ... and its the National federations in which courses are members (depending on the nation, either with the National federation or through regional associations ... like in Canada and the United States).

So, yes, it is very reasonable to conclude that they know their numbers of Golf courses better than Golf Digest.   🙄

I played golf in Singapore about 10 years ago at Sentosa Island in July. It was hot as balls so I can’t imagine wearing pants. I think it was the hottest I had ever played in before.

The secret to playing golf in the tropics is... arm sleeves! I kid you not, they seem to have a cooling effect (something to do with perspiration & wicking/cooling effect)

I’ve never tried this but it would seem like it would get warm wearing them. I know the women use it to not get a tan but didn’t think it would be good for cooling.

I think @Argonne69 has tried similar arm sleeves ... he previously said "The wick away sweat fairly decently. I've never felt hot wearing them, and it seems the more you sweat the cooler they feel. "

Wait, did I just hear something about only doing 54 holes?

I mean, given everything with the intense heat, can't say I'd blame them.

Yeah, there's a big storm coming in and they don't have time to push it back an extra day.  They'll decide "as late as possible", whether to go 54 or try for 72

Japan is expected to be hit with a tropical cyclone late Friday night in Saturday dumping a whole lot of rain.

https://golf.com/news/womens-olympics-golf-heat-tropical-storm-cut-54-holes/

The Japan Meteorological Agency currently has the storm tracking directly over the entirety of the country, which just means the storms expected to arrive on Saturday will almost surely sustain through Sunday. The same event meteorologists are currently forecasting an 80% chance of storms on Sunday, the last day any golf can be played at these Olympics. No final decision on the length of the event will be made until at least after Thursday’s second round.

If you were a headline writer... should tomorrow's headlines read
"Go Nelly!" ,
"Whoa Nelly!"...
...or another better headline?
