Seriously though, at one time I was at least every year, sometimes more than once.

 

But in the last 6 or 7 years it's been only 3 drivers and I don't see myself changing my Epic Flash SZ, my driver of the last 2 years, anytime soon.

There’s not a, “whenever I want to try a new one” option. 
 

It may not necessarily be brand new, but I will buy a new to me driver whenever I feel like it, as long as I can sell the one that’s being replaced.

I've never really bought "new" drivers. They're like luxury cars - the depreciation is through the roof. Rocking my 2017 m1 440 I bought for $130.

2010, 2014, 2018, and a couple of months ago this year.

 

I only buy when I know to a certainty from a club fitting session that there are gains to be had.

 

Disclaimer: I now 69, and the loss of swing speed really drives the bus on this for old guys.  We don’t get longer, but we can regain some lost yards thru really careful fittings.

I've been using the Golftown trade-in event for the last several years which helps with the costs.

I don't buy a new driver unless I feel like I'll get something significant out of the new tech (10+ yards of distance, more forgiveness on mishits, or etc.). So for me that is about every 5-7 years typically. I know this is blasphemous to say here, but I don't really see the point in spending $600-700+ every year just to have something that looks different but performs the same.

would have to honestly say every 3 years.  But now with equipment getting pushed to its limits, my Epic Max LS is probably going to be staying in the bag for 5-7.

To properly try a driver these days is to buy it really, so multiple a year. It's so easy to sell them.

Depends on the year honestly. I typically go hit them all on the LM at my local shop every year, If one looks and feels right ill pull the trigger if not I just wait until the next gen. Typically only buy one about every 5 or 6 years, but again, it just depends on if one feels "right".

Probably 1-2 per year but definitely doesn’t mean I keep them. I enjoy trying new equipment but I keep my go to’s on standby always.

I usually buy 3-4 a year. This year was TM Sim2 Max, Callaway Epic Max LS, Ping G425 & Cobra Rad Speed. Tried them all out & for me the TM Sim2 Max was the winner. Will eventually sell the others when the new models come out next year.

Honestly have bought 1 driver new -- PING g400 LST...that kept breaking and cracking and they have replaced it 3x to that model, then they no longer made that head so they replaced it with a PING g410 LST. hasn't cracked yet...fingers crossed. 

 

Driver tech hasn't changed.

Yeah, I bought my R1 from Play it Again for $50 then sold it back to them for $80. I got my M1 head off eBay for $82, put the old shaft from the R1 and sold it for $150. I got my M6 from Global Golf for $130 after a bunch of discounts. So I'm almost ahead of the game at this point.

Yeah i know--I'm trying to stay away LOL---I have a RadSpeed i still really like and just bought a new Mavrik/Rogue White 130 combo

 

I also am working on a MOAP purchase (mother of all putters---Trust me, wait until you see this, the only thing i will say is that i will own the first one ever made)

 

I also am going to order a custom bag and headcovers for next season

 

So trying to stay away from drivers and irons since i was so happy with them this past year

There should be a never choice for me haha. I'm still playing my 07 Ping G10 and have tried every new driver for the last 5 years. Nothing is more than 4-5 yards longer and I'm not switching and paying 500+ for 4-5 yards.

Been averaging about 1 every 2 years.  Just fun to try newer stuff and 2 years is about the mark for me where the novelty of my latest "new driver" wears off.  I do tend to stay in the same shaft however.
