Is there any company you shy away from just because?

I’m definitely a bit of a Callaway homer, but I’m open to all OEMs.  Whatever looks, feels, and performs great.  That said, I don’t think I’ve ever owned a Cobra club.  No reason why, just haven’t.

PXG is one brand I can do without overpriced gouch people for all they could get at the beginning as I hate those commercials too & heard all I want to hear about Bob Parson. TaylorMade irons years ago were a brand I wanted nothing to do with them. Today they are a top contender.

Still just Callaway for no real reason than there hasn't been a compelling reason to look at them. They don't make much that really interests me.

Callaway, because their bore-through irons couldn't be bent for lie, and I was too cheap to buy new at the time.

I’m turned off by callaway but that’s only because of their designs. They just aren’t appealing to me and don’t pass the eye test. I’m sure they make phenomenal clubs tho.

Same. They look so cheesy to me for some reason. I used to think the same of taylormade

Other than PXG, I have not really put a permanent ban on anything. Don't care for PXG - any of it. I can't get past the boisterous garbage. I realize the guy was successful, but goodness the advertisements are awful. Not to mention the busy irons with all the screws. Having said that I realize that many others like them, and to each their own.

For me, I stay 100% away from ping because my eyes can’t get past the looks and my ears hate the sound of their drivers. Titleist is an honorable mention for me as well. I like all the off the rack options for the vokeys, but there are just so many clowns that think their s*** doesn’t stink because they have a full titleist bag.

To dislike a golf brand for their commercials is kinda funny not to buy their products or cringe over that company..many of you have car insurance with stupid commercials, own cars with stupid commercials, or bought something from “as seen on TV”…etc…. Lol

They could have Paul Reubens doing golf commercials lol I don’t care.

The one I never seem to gravitate toward is Callaway.

-No real reason on the iron side of things. I think they have some great looking irons.

-Over the years I've not been a fan of the general look of their wedges and hybrids at address. Can't really describe why.

-Recent drivers and fairways seem to have more "onset" than other manufacturers. I've dabbled in these, but that has always bothered me. I really do wish they would get away from that trend. If so I'd definitely give them another go.

I shy away from all companies that won't stand behind their product.  Taylormade and Callaway comes with a 2 year warranty.  Ping offer a 3 year warranty on irons and Tour Edge... Lifetime.  everyone else is 1 year or less....  Hype or no hype, the devil is in the detail, and in this case the fine print.

Callaway for me. I’m sure they make great clubs but every time I try them, even when they’re in my specs and I don’t know it’s a callaway (such as my recent iron fittings where I got my coach to give me clubs without telling me which was which) I just cannot hit their clubs.

The other company I’m less likely to use is Taylormade. Bought loads from them over the years and love their gear but after my experiences with their paint on 3 of their putters as well as getting a crack in my m3 they didn’t want to resolve (thankfully my club pro sorted) I don’t really have an affinity for them now.

Never had any issues with Ping, titleist or mizuno so probably use them in future.

It's almost diametrically opposite of how you describe.  They seed the amateur ranks with very low cost, or free, goodies.  Get 'em while they're young.

I mean no offense, but I find this a little funny.  It's not all that long ago that Titleist *refused* to offer a forged iron; their irons were limited to 17-4 stainless steel CBs.  This was being done after they had signed The Man himself to a deal.  They even released a comment that their designs were "too complicated to produce as a forged clubhead."

Watching it play out was a little bewildering

Yes, they do seed the amateur ranks with very low cost or free everything. But don't all the manufacturers (at least the major ones being debated here) do it to the promising players? Which should effectively even the playing field given they're not paying these players any money (unless its under the table) which leaves the player to choose which is actually best?

Which years do you refer to that Titleist didn't offer a forged iron? I'm no Titleist historian but I can remember they had a void in the market for several years in the early 2000s offering the 990's which were on the way out, and the DCI 962's / 981 which were dated. I happened to be in the market for irons at this time and was frustrated with no good Titleist options (681s would have been nice, but not realistic for my game at that time) so I ended up with TaylorMade 330s.

I have always been anti-Titleist.   I won't even get into the reasons as it will make some people mad.

I have become anti-PXG just because of the commercial and the owner and the people I have met who play their clubs, or at least 90% of them.

Mid 90s to early 2000s.  The 681 finally came out 2001.

Interesting thing about the 681...  I had a set of Palmer Standards at the time.  Course I played had a set of 681s on the wall.  They were a dead ringer for the Palmers.  LOL
