Is there any company you shy away from just because?

I don't shy away from any brands, I'll try them all cause if they work for me why wouldn't I play it?

There are brands that have some clubs that don't work for me but I don't hate them, they're good, they work for others they just don't work for me.

It's always a smack in the head whenever I play with/against someone who plays really well with a mish-mosh set of equipment that I would never use.

Sometimes, I feel like doing a George Costanza "everything opposite of my natural instinct" and assembling a bag with all the brands/clubs that make me want to puke, and see how I do with them.

However, I'm afraid I might score better and would feel stupid if I didn't keep using them.  🤪

I have reasons for any company I avoid.

PXG:  overpriced

Titleist:  Overpriced and they set the market prices on certain things, like wedges and balls.  The main reason we're paying $45+ and $160+ for major OEM balls and wedges, respectively, is because they can't be seen as inferior to Pro V1 and Vokey.

PXG is just a hard pass for me, and likely always will be.

I also just don't get along with Callaway.  It's not an auto-no like PXG, but there's just something about the looks/feel/something that it just doesn't work for me.

Only one, pinnacle golf ball. Everything else is on the table.

PXG because of commercials makes me laugh. PXG is a stellar club maker. Expensive? Depends on you, 0211 irons aren’t or going to gen3s in the 0311s.

I tend to shy away from Cobra. A friend had one of their drivers about 12 years ago and it sounded like a softball bat on steroids. I know they make good products, but that sound is forever ingrained with cobra products in my mind.

For me it's Callaway.

Their balls have generally been pretty bad - although lately I've hit a few Chromesoft X which I didn't mind, but really nothing else that feels good.  Especially at the lower end of their lineup, TM, Srixon and Titleist have way better value balls than Callaway.

I have never liked their woods and drivers, with the exception of an Epic Speed I demoed at demo day this summer.  That felt really nice, but the Epic Speed driver felt awful to me.  The irons have never been a consideration.  I've tried some, but they just don't compare to anything else in their category.

I've never given their wedges a go, but again, just no desire to.

I haven't bought a Callaway product in two decades. Actually, no, I very briefly had a UT iron. But that's it.

And I have a very love-hate relationship with TaylorMade. I don't like their constant rollout of product, and they have poor quality control and customer service. But they sometimes make stuff that's too good to ignore.

Mizuno, Ping and Titleist have been my go-to brands over the years.

I'll add that Cobra makes decent performers but their designs always look cheap. Dabbled with some one-length irons but have otherwise ignored them.

And PXG ... I'll be dead before any of their clubs enter my bag.

For me, if any company that I can think of, it is Callaway. I didn't totally 'ban' them but did for many years. I eventually bought a used 3wood and a used driver. And some balls. But for new clubs, I had never bought one until I recently bought a Callaway hybrid. I have mellowed over the years! This 'opinion' about their company stems from way back when they were super aggressive in their early years. I didn't 'feel good' about their tactics way back when, right or wrong. They certainly did a good job, lol, they sure have a good marketing department! They went from zero to contender to super power in the industry in not a long period of time it seems. (Although, I admit I do not know industry stats.) Time heals all wounds, lol! Is there any company that soured you?

Can’t stand callaway clubs either (with the exception of odyssey)

TM - don't really care for their stuff anymore. Liked some of their offerings years back but not really a fan of their brand now. P7TW is pretty much the only exception.

PXG - ugly, would have to perform absolutely amazing to get over the looks.

Scotty - $$$$$$.

To be really honest though there's generally a category from each manufacturer that I don't care for.

Being a component club player for many years, I have shied away from OEMs for a while in general. However,  the gap in performance and options is widening, forcing me into the market.

I have put a Titleist driver in play this year and it is phenomenal. Just bought a Cleveland Zipcore wedge. First of each brand in my bag.

Not sure I would consider Cobra. Didnt like the Radspeed when I hit it. Not sure why, but I feel like they are a step down from the majors?Just generally have never liked their looks.

PXG is down my list. Maybe its the commercials? Maybe the looks? Not sure.

Never have gotten along with Callaway stuff, but would at least try it and did during my driver fitting.

If I went for a fitting again, I think I would try to just keep an open mind and hit everything. Don't think any of the majors make bad product.

TaylorMade-constant roll out of the same old crap. Hit a driver once and felt like a brick on a string. Several playing partners have bought TM clubs and they can’t even stand to play them.

PXG-clown marketing with no history of success of waaaaay overpriced products.

Titleist-because their elitists “were the best ever made” attitude.

Callaway - just not a fan of their branding. I don’t like the look of anything they do. From their logo to their club design. It’s all just cheesy. Maverick, Epic, Diablo…I feel like they are targeting new golfers or 20+ handicaps. Probably why they’ve grown

PXG - no explanation needed

I love callaway, odyssey, nike, scottt cameron, bettinardi, mizuno, gfore, footjoy.

I dislike Titliest clubs not balls. Player a set on rental. Driver was ok irons t300 irons felt terrible. Ive hit their smaller offerings. Feels outdated to me. Pxg? Tottaly off puting for some reason. Taylormade? Never really cared for their stuff but some irons are intresting. Never hit though.

Ping? Same as everyone else. Too chunky in all lines except blueprints. Wierd chunk missing is odd but maybe i can get past that. Cobra? Some of their stuff is ok but seems cheap sometimes? Sorta plastic-y

I like to just stick to what i know feels works and look right.

I'm a huge of playing 5+ brands in my bag at a time just because, but I will never in a million years put a PXG club into play. Their commercials and advertising don't really bother me that much because it's super effective and their campaigns work (you all can't stop talking about them for good or bad, and all press is good press) but I think their clubs look so bad and are so expensive for no reason. The screwback on all of their clubs looks really dumb to me and isn't what I associate with premium at all
