Yeah me too.  I traded in i210s for MP-223s and miss the forgiveness. I’d like to get my order placed asap.

 

 I’m in the camp that believes we’ll see a very similar cavity back to the i210 with an aluminum insert and a tungsten toe weight  for forgiveness.  I may be dreaming but I expect a hair more ball speed.

I think I am ready to try something new. These i230’s probably not much different than my i210’s. Think I’m going to go with a combo set from PXG. A mix of “T” and “P”. Again, the new pings look great. No hate from me. Just think I might try something different for a while, maybe forever. Lol.

I’m sure it’s been said in this mega-thread, but highly unlikely early adopting pros are going to put a hollow bodied iron in to play. The i230’s are almost certainly not hollow. With the exception of a few long and driving irons, hollow just has no traction on tour due to distance inconsistencies. And no, i59’s are not hollow.

Easy transition. Played Pings for over 20 years and went to PXG on Gen4 & 5s. Relatively same forgiveness, turf interaction and looks top down with better feel and sound. Still may grab a set of these for sure because there is some cool technology with the alumicore rod but won’t be in line for a new set. Will wait on some good BST action.

YMMV but the PXG P's spin ALOT less than the i210 for me.  Not sure about the T's.  If you don't need spin you'll probably love them.  I thought the Gen3 P's felt great and were very forgiving.   I just launched low spin rockets all over the course.

Yeah, I know the “T” spin enough. I was going to play them 6-GW, 4 and 5 in “P” or maybe an “XP” in the 4.

PXG were very disappointing in the feel department. I210 felt was better.    IMO

They are shockingly bad at business in the last 2 years.  Get buzz out about a release and immediately KILL it.  What happened over there???

I agree. The club number font looks the same and they've gone away from the outline numbering.

I'm surprised that they are keeping so quiet. It would make sense if they were trying to clear large amounts of i210 inventory before hyping i230, but i210 has been unavailable for some time now.

Doesn’t seem like Ping did a big hype thing and then go off the radar. They took four years to design an improvement to a very popular club and then put it in some pros’ bags first (as everyone does) and then the internet got wind of it and everyone started speculating. I don’t think too many people buy clubs in the middle of golf season. Also golf continues to grow and supply chains continue to lag. I bet Ping is making more money than they know what to do with.

I really don't think they care about buzz.  I mean what else can they do?  Some of their pros are using the irons, there are pictures of the irons out in the wild and soon enough they will be available to test. 

 

Although not as succinct as Bryson's LIV/pizza analogy, we're slowly getting to know the irons before we enter an emotionally fulfilling, long term relationship, rather than meeting an absolute smoke show at a bar, go on three dates and then find out she claps when the plane lands, or puts the milk in her bowl before the cereal...🙄

As a counterpoint, can you imagine if these were TM irons?

 

However, I suspect there is a bit more to this than Ping is an engineering company and TM is a marketing company.

 

The transition from i210 to i230 is more than a little weird, where Ping simply shut up shop entirely for several months in a category where they have been very successful. It suggests supply chain issues (whether that is heads, shafts, grips or a combination thereof).

 

My guess is that they simply don't yet have the supply in place for a well-marketed general release but at least getting them into the hands of tour pro's and getting pics on social media will prevent many i210 loyalists from jumping ship.

Understand creating buzz, but consumers would be far more patient if Ping wouldn't discontinue their previous line of clubs (i210) months before having a replacement.

I really hope this release info is wrong. Absolutely hate winter releases for irons. I have learned the hard way that I have to hit them off actual turf. Jan release would put me into March before I could decide whether to order.

the i E1 is an EXCELLENT iron. the color is what it is.
