Next Season’s Bag; same or different?

Considering swapping the 3 & 5 woods for a 4/7 combo. Need to see what’s new and what is still on shelves that gets discounted.

I’ve got a couple high lofted hybrids that are getting long in the tooth. While they’re still functional, I wonder what I’m leaving on the table by not upgrading to newer tech.

Probably look to replace my Sim2 fairways. 3, 5 and 7. Unless TaylorMade goes to a carbon face in their woods. That’s a non starter for me. Couldn’t stand the Stealth when I hit it, and have a few buddies who made the mistake of buying one. They’ve already been traded in. Maybe I’ll give Ping and Cobra a shot, but I generally prefer fixed hosel fairways.

Just got new irons and wedges this summer (and a proper fitting for once). Probably the only risk there is would I go back and dabble with one of the old sets I have lying around.

Going to get fit for the TSR later this week, if the numbers are better than the TSi will make the switch. Haven't seen any other appealing drivers on the horizon.

Callaway UW not going anywhere.

I plan on buying a 4W next year.  I would like to see what the new releases look like and if nothing looks interesting pick up a 2022 model at a discounted price.

After turning my bag over a bunch this season, I should be fine for a while.

  • My driver and putter were recently dialed in through pro fittings so I'd be silly to change those
  • I traded through about 8 sets of irons this year to wind up very happy with my current set
  • My wedges carried over from last season and I haven't found any reasons to change them
  • The last piece of the puzzle for me was the long end between my driver and my longest iron. I've fallen in love with my Epic Speed 4 wood and Apex Pro hybrid and they bridge that bag gap very well without giving me enough options to confuse me or cause doubt.

After all that work it would be smart for me to lock down the bag and refuse to change anything. I put the chances of that at 50/50, ha ha.

99% sure I'm set. Been kicking around the idea of a 7 wood or maybe a new hybrid, but I don't think it's very likely at all.

The only thing I will be entertaining changing up are dropping my longer 3W for a driver and possibly a new wedge set.

I plan on keeping my bag exactly the way it is...but this is GolfWRX. My wife and I are expecting our first little one October 13th so my days of ho'ing are likely over.

Driver - I started the season with a TaylorMade SIM 2 that I thought I wouldn't change until I got the itch to try something new. I tried 4 different ones until I found my current gamer - Mizuno ST-Z 220. I am done chasing distance. This thing keeps the ball in play and I hit it plenty long enough to sacrifice a few yards.

3 & 5 Wood - I've been using my Titleist 3 wood since its release and I don't see a reason to change it anytime soon. Same with my old school 5 wood. I'm so comfortable with them.

Irons - Got a great deal last winter on a gently used set of Srixon Z745's and I'm in love with them. Took my forever to find a replacement for my Bridgestone J40 CB's but these have been a godsend.

Wedges - Grooves are fine and I'm finally adjusted to the lower bounce. No reason to change.

Putter - This is where it gets interesting. I currently have 3  putters - TaylorMade Spider X Chalk, Mizuno M Craft Type I and Odyssey O-Works Black #7s. I guess I'll use the rest of 2022 to figure out my 2023 gamer but will likely keep all 3 just in case.

Ball - Bridgestone Tour B XS. I get so much confidence from knowing I'm playing the same ball as Tiger Woods. Plus it looks cool in yellow. Been my gamer since 2018.

There are times where I'm like "Maybe I should look at new irons?" or "I wonder if new woods or a different setup would be better?" Then I realize I should just spend that cash on lessons and practice cause how much better will new gear get me?

Also wedges, still want new wedges. Mine are still good just want new wedges for a bit more consistency in looks/setup/feel.

Everything in my bag is new apart from the driver head and putter so in theory it should all be there for the next few years. But I expect a few changes to be made. 3 wood is most likely.

I should be pretty good to go.  Putter isn't changing (Sacks Parente 39), irons aren't changing (G4 0311ST), FW wood (TSi3) isn't changing.  I am demoing the TSr next week.  If I get that, that would be the only contemplated club change.   I may put steelfibers in wedges if I get a wild hair.

I'm swapping my 3i out for a 7w, and am building up a set of different irons for tournament play (my J33s are unfortunately non-conforming). Other than that I have 0 reason to change anything else in my bag.

I'm probably 50/50 on if something will change next year.  My only change this year was a recent driver change and that's going well so far.  Replacing my 3 iron with a driving iron is the only thing I can think of, but only if I find a good deal.

Should be most of the same. Putter isn't going anywhere, wedges are new, irons won't go anywhere unless I actually get fitted. 3wd is safe for a while, and I always fluctuate between a few clubs in between 3wd and my irons. So the likely thing to change is driver. But I just picked up a stz220 so that will be my driver unless I don't hit it well. Possibly to much spin. But if it does maybe it keeps me more online.
