Will you be purchasing the new K-Sig putter?

I'll wait until they start to appear dirt cheap second hand. Bound to happen after a few months and the novelty wears down. As someone who plays at 33" the head weight is too light for me so I'll put the 15g weights in and also add some lead tape to cover the logos on the bottom and get the head up to 360g

Head weight would be my concern. I may be reading it wrong but it appears the max head weight will be 350g with the 15g weights.

as I understand the kit comes with 5g and 15g weights. Head with 2 - 10 g weights is 340g, that makes the raw head 320g. Add 30g for the 15 g weights and that puts you at 350g max. That might work at 33 inches depending on shaft weight.

Too ugly. If they made something at least appealing to the eye then I would try it. It's like they developed a new product and didn't bother hiring a competant designer. It looks like they slapped the font/design on their Kirkland stuff right on the putter. While I can see that it fits their Kirkland branding, it doesn't change the fact that it's very bland and ugly.

It's amazing how people are judging the looks off of a scan of a photo of the bottom of the putter? I don't like Anser style putters but I'll still take a look. As I mentioned in another thread, where can you get a fully CNC milled putter for $150 other than Golfworks? And I refuse to pay $300 for an overpriced milled putter, even if it's milled here.

And if it's made in the same foundry as major OEMs, why not? I don't care what name is on it. The original Kirkland ball outperformed the ProV1 for me but unfortunately both spun way too much. The Signature Gloves have turned out to be far better than the Titleist Players. I bought 8 and have only used one so far with 8 rounds on it and it still feels newish.

"Kirkland Signature" on the bottom of a putter screams 'generic' in my opinion. Branding matters with golf equipment to a lot of people just like it does with shoes, clothes, etc. Others don't care and would choose the cheaper alternative. My guess is the overwhelming majority on this site would be immediately turned off by the graphics on the sole. Heck, I'm turned off by the graphics on the golf ball and wouldn't play it, and if I wore a glove it wouldn't be a "Kirkland".

I would have had Mizuno not release their M-Craft line. When I first heard rumors about a Kirkland putter a year or so ago I thought, "Yeah, I'll give that a go if the price is right." Fast forward a year and I'm loving the M-Craft 1 I bought when they released. If the Kirkland were a 100% milled putter, I'd probably still try it how. However, I'm not interested in insert faces.

At least you are honest in that the main reason you dislike is due to the name and not the actual looks. And given the success of the original Kirkland Signature ball I serious doubt your "overwhelming majority" about the graphics.

I'm actually amazed how many people are "willing" to try it BECAUSE of the kirkland name. I mean it's 40% higher price than Cleveland's very highly rated putters. Yes it's cnc'd, but it has an insert (which seems odd to me).

It's not like you can test it out on a putting green in costco and get "sold on it". You are buying it because you want to try it (versus the other thousands of putter options). (yes I know about the return policy but doesn't edwin watts over a pretty amazing 90 return policy).

If I wanted a cheap putter I'd buy a Cleveland. Just because something is made in the same foundry as other oem's means absolutely nothing. Not interested.

Mint used putters other that Scottys can be picked up cheap on used classifieds. (Local kijiji and marketplace golf for me). I picked up a Bobby Grace putter mint for $70. Last fall a Taylormade Juno for $90 cnd that was mint. Yesterday I grabbed a Sentio limited edition that sells for $399 usd on website for $100cnd. Just look around...unless you think that this one just might be your unicorn lifetime putter

Armchair Golf Club Industry Analysis: I feel like a lone putter is a weird move for Costco... though maybe it's just a way to judge the market and see if people are willing to try their equipment based on their reputation... Let's agree that older, more affluent people are both the majority of the market for golf clubs and Costco memberships... my problem is I'm not sure how many people are willing to take a flyer on a $140 putter at their local Costco. It's just a weird fit to me... My wife's old boss had a dozen putters in his office, and I can see him picking it up on a whim, but I can't imagine it making it outside his office and into his bag... other than that, the majority of golfers I know will stay away from it, as any who are in the market for a putter will buy one at a golf store / pro shop after testing out a few different models...

As a cheap first toe into the club market, I think it makes some sense? Get your supply chain established, bring a product that gets some hype but doesn't necessarily drive demand the way their golf balls did (and where quality is significantly more subjective!) and it's an interesting opportunity to see if they can get SOME of their membership to bite on a new item... Paves the way for a wedge set, which is something that people replace more often and also have a fairly standardized design. Using the putter as a beachead to sell wedges, or possibly an entire boxed set makes some sort of sense... Looking at the variation in price from a GolfWorks set ($350 for 5-PW) vs $800 plus for a "name brand" set, and there is clearly room in the market for a trusted vendor to make a splash... but I have no idea Costco's overall strategy... it will be interesting to see. I'm also interested as why they are targeting golf, but maybe they see it as a place where a generic, reputable brand can do well without much advertising... Looking at the "recommend new clubs for a beginner" thread, TEE is the only company that I saw recommended... so there is clearly room for a company with a good reputation to make a "generic" set for people to start golf with...

They probably have the research in house, I'd bet one of the first thing a golfer moving from a new set does is replace their putter... Maybe that's a good place for Costco to start. I'm sure they have people who have the numbers and have a strategy in place (this doesn't mean it's a good strategy, or that it will work... but someone, somewhere justified getting into this market).

TLDR: No, I'm not going to buy one, but I'm interested to see COSTCO's overall strategy and reception as it tries to break into the golf market.
