Mizuno 2019

Recommended Posts

Just my two cents from experimenting with the ST190 for a week or two now. I love it. Shape is a little deep for my liking but the performance of the driver will always outweigh any of my preferences. Sounds and feels great. Is a low spinner for sure. Ball flight is consistent and fast off the face. Will compete with anything out there this year for sure. Might actually end up in the bag. We will have to see!

Have you done any comparisons with the F9? I'm torn between the two although I prefer the look, sound and feel of ST190. I'm curious to know which is higher spinning.

I’ve spent time with both quite extensively. They’re both nearly identical in spin shaft for shaft. ST190 might feel a touch better but F9 sounds slightly better. Splitting hairs....

And Mitchell's story about it is that he stopped by to hit it as a favor to the Mizuno guys to give them some numbers and liked it so much he put it straight in the bag.

Schenk wasn't far behind for most of it.

I really like how Mizuno are set up on tour right now. Players coming through like Mitchell and Schenk - where a win really means something. Or players like Glover, Pepperell who have had a dip - return to form says a lot too. Driver and fairway woods working their way into the players bags - will take a season or so to flush out the bags exactly as we'd like. But its all progress built on proper foundations.

Lot more meaningful than buying the world's elite players - who would have won anyway.

Vijay won the 2000 Masters with a Mizuno Pro 300S driver. 900$ retail back in the day.

Well that answers the question I had, thanks!

I wonder if we might see Koepka hitting it soon?

As much as I would love to see it, it is doubtful. Most non contract guys are hitting TM stuff. Some say they could be getting a bit of coin just to do that...or its because they still make the best woods. If Brooks was on staff, then I would say there's a chance he would move over to the ST190.

I like golf. A lot.

Ian from TXG said that TM does give out woods contracts only(Paul Casey). There hasnt been this much hype over a driver from them. When Cobra and Mizuno are being talked about for woods, gotta mean something. Probably need a predecessor to the ST190 to make a decent splash. Just can't be a one hit wonder. Still waiting for Mizuno to replace Luke with Brooks, I think its about time as much as I like Luke. Just not really relevant anymore unfortunately due to injury and soaking himself in wine. Just give Brooks what he wants and get it over with.

Couldn't agree more with what you posted. With the general population being more aware of the variety of different brands and doing fittings more often, these are actually huge victories for Mizuno to the public eye.

Thing is there are legal limits to clubs so manufacturers have all caught up to the big guns. So yeah Mizuno driver is pretty good now compared to say a TM driver. I mean look at TM they literally had to inject their clubs to make them worse to make the legal limit! Good screw up for marketing considering the vast majority of people thing the injection helps the club...

Has anyone hit the 3TS and compared it to 913Fd? I hity 913 pretty good, but can't find a 3TS to try out.

The TS is a great fairway. Lower spin than most with a little deeper face than what others are offering at the moment. The head doesn't look quite as small as some of the others until you put it next to them, if that makes sense. For some reason it just looks big, but it really isn't. I haven't compared it to a 913Fd but I would be pretty impressed if the Titleist kept up. The TS3 would be a better match up. I think the TS is great for players who have a steeper attack angle on their woods and want something to use off the tee.

I think it may have been some kind of Graphite Design I hadn’t seen before. I think they had Diamana DF’s on the rack, too. The model S is compact with a DEEP face like a lot of JDM drivers and looks killer if you like a small head.

I really wish they offered the ST190 in a 12 degree. Doesn't make much sense (to me at least) to have a 9.5 and a 105.....space it out a little
