Ping's new G410 LST driver

First round with the 410 LST today and this thing is awesome. Love the sound and feel. Very solid, but also soft feeling. Sound is much better than the Max. Best way to describe the sound difference is the Max sounds like an aluminum bat, but the 410 LST sounds like a wooden bat. Loud crack when you catch it right. Very consistent ball flight. Not as straight as the Max, but very very close on forgiveness. For me it is definitely longer than the Max. LOVE this driver. I’ve had G30, G400, F9 and G400 Max and the 410 LST is better than all of those.

Unfortunately I dislike the Callaway sound. It’s really annoying to me.

Maybe I was sold by the G400 design marketing, as better explained here: “PING’s thinking is that the amygdala, a primary structure of the limbic system often referred to as the emotional center of the brain, can be stimulated by pleasing sounds. When the reward system kicks in, it can untap the golfer’s ability to swing with greater confidence.

In Tour Player testing, PING observed that its staffers were swinging harder, generating more clubhead speed, and ultimately producing greater distance. The company believes it’s a big part of the reason why so many staffers put the driver in their bags week one.” https://mygolfspy.com/2017-ping-g400-driver-review/

But, IMHO, it works the sound of G400 is superb. The sound of the Callaway is not good. too bad because it’s a nice looking drive, and my shots where great ... not as good as the G410LST

this weekend I played a small tournament and decided to bag my G400, instead of the G410. My logic was that the 410 is newer and still on testing phase, and I haven’t felt a big advantage over the 400.... today after finishing my thinking is, the G410 is better than the 400. Doesn’t change lots or makes incredible improvements, it’s just little better. For me that’s fantastic as I considered the 400 was the best driver ever.

* I must say, anyhow, that the Callaway flash SZ 3 Wood Is the most significative change I made this year. It replaced a M2 wood and wow I was pleasantly surprised.

I had a go with the multiple weights. I have the stock 14 and messed around with a 4 and a 10, and a 6 and an 8.

it was fun to mess around with.... but the club feels different. Disjointed? A little clunky? I found a few combos I liked but had better luck messing with loft and lie combos with the stock 14. YRMV.

Played the 9* LST with the Tour 65 for the last month, I thought it was a fantastic driver overall. Could have used a touch more forgiveness but I was happy with it until I stumbled back on the LTD. I may go back to the 410 or a 400 even at some point, just like the cleaner look of the Cobra ATM.

First off.....I''m a woman, hdcp stays between 10-12. I've been playing Ping G25's driver, 3-wood, & 5-wood for about 5 yrs or so. (They have men's senior flex shafts). I've loved them for a long time. I just demo'd the Ping G410 Plus and think I really like it, but it was an 11-deg loft and my G-25 is a 9.5 deg (I have no trouble getting the ball in the air with most any club). My Ping irons/hybrids are women's clubs with a 2-deg flat lie ....orange dot. Do Ping woods also have the same color designated lies as their irons? And would it be logical to have the orange dot in the woods also? I love the sound of my G-25's, but the G410's have a more muffled sound....which I'd have to get used to I guess. But the way the ball just rockets off the face of the G410 is a beautiful thing. And I think I was getting a good 15 yds more in distance, even with the extra loft & into a good breeze. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

I played 410 LST from early last season until a month ago, when SIM knocked it out.

For me, SIM has more ball speed, higher launch, lower spin with equal or greater accuracy... plus SIM sounds and feels like heaven, to me.

I traveled with LST and SIM on the past two golf trips because I wasn’t convinced Trackman data was proof enough SIM is better than LST on the course.

15 rounds later I can tell you the LST was not put in play one time and SIM is firmly on the team for 2020.

Believe me, I’m shocked... I believed I’d play LST for several seasons before something knocked it out.

Thanks for the reply this is exactly what I was looking for.

got my fitting done in a simulator, which I’m always weary of, but crappy weather here. I did compare apples to apples, hitting my current gamer (rogue SZ) against the LST and the sim.

LST carried a full 9 yards farther on average than mine, with my longest hit of the day coming with that club. I love the look of it and how it sets up. 2.5 mph more ball speed than mine, launching a degree higher, and spin was roughly the same.

then came the sim. The brighter colors weren’t my cup of tea, but the results were crazy. Carried a full 18 yards farther than my rogue, launched 3 degrees higher, 3 mph more ball speed, and a nice 2400 spin. Tighter dispersion as well.

it’s a lot of money to drop without having any on course testing, but I think I might just take a chance and go for it.

I recently had a fitting at true spec and tried both but landed on the LST bc it was way more forgiving. My miss is on the toe and the SIM couldn't retain the spin like the LST could and they would just fall out the air. Bad shots with the LST were completley saved.

I went the opposite way as G here. I got fit for the Sim Max 9*. I used it with same Ventus Black. It had better numbers than the LST for me in the fitting. On course it started very well. Forgiveness is on par with Ping which is saying something. Others are just now catching up to them in this area. Ultimately though through good swings and bad swings, the Ping ended up being the better driver. Distance was basically the same. Dispersion is where the Ping still wins. The TM was too easy to go left and I just hate seeing that shot. With the Ping, I can really release and not worry about it as much. Also, the shots toe side are less forgiving on the TM. TM wins on shots struck low on the face. It all depends on your swing and where you miss. Ultimately the Ping is back in the bag and not going anywhere early this season until late summer when the new Pings come out if then. Made a bit of money off the Sim Max and all is good.

Tried many of the 2020 drivers today on range. Nothing ended up better than the PING! The mizuno was close. The TS4 was close. TM and cally just are so much more inconsistent it's not even close.

Ordered g410 LST with tensei orange 60x the other day. Tried it last year and was impressed. With the price reduction and having ample amounts of time on my hands I pulled the trigger. Currently gaming epic flash SZ TD w/ AD IZ 6x. Have some different shafts around I might throw in it. Including the IZ

Not sure if anyone answered you yet, but I think the Ping adapter adds 1.25” and typically a grip can add close to .25”.

They spin quite a bit for a low spin model. In my fitting the 9* was 500 rpm more than my 8.5* TS3. I want to game the Ping but I'm worried about the spin. Just picked up an M5 on a trade for some old wedges and might try to flip it for one of the LST but unsure.

with my 9* digitally lofted LST, I have two shots -

High Lower Spin Draw - Distance

Low Straight one - Fairway finder

Both make this the best driver I have ever owned and right now don't see me swapping it out.

I have no idea exact spin numbers but it beat out - M3, M5, Titleist and I already hated Callaway so would not go there again.

TXG's test showed the Ping with slightly lower spin than the TS3 but it was only something like 80 RPM's. If you like the Ping maybe another shaft would bring the spin down. Was the Ping a 8.5° too?

Am I crazy or does the sound of this driver change drastically when the weight is moved? I started in the fade position and it was fairly muted and when it was in the neutral position it was a much higher pitch.

I purchased a 6 and 8 gram weight land put them in the heel and toe slots.

Sounds way better than one weight in the Center. Slightly more muted.

It all depends on what shaft is in it from the factory and what length it was built at. Most are from 203 to 208 grams built at factory length.
