Anyone else catch Bruce's interview after his round?  Saying the soft conditions benefitted pickers vs diggers and DJ is a picker of the ball.  Bruce being Bruce once again.  Every time he opens his mouth he just makes me like him less and less.

Interviews for Brooks are not about getting his thoughts and feelings out in the open for the public’s enjoyment. Brooks uses interviews to build himself up, try to intimidate the opposition, and to make points. I get that - he’s using psychology and it’s a good move. But don’t look at Brook’s interviews for the unvarnished truth. He’s making statements about himself aimed at his opponents primarily. It’s a mind game to build his confidence.

I don’t think he’s that insightful, it’s all about #1 to him. (Obviously not world #1 haha)

I am not sure if he is intimidating anyone. The depth and quality of players today seems to contravene any intimidating tactics Brooks may engage in. It just makes him look like a bit of a tool.

Whether or not it works is up for grabs. But it’s about sending messages through the media and building his confidence.

I read that Snead used to use similar tactics but not necessarily through the media. He'd comment on a fellow players swing out on the practice range, something like "do you normally have such an inside take away?" 😅 Apparently to mess with other competitors. I've heard it's done in other sports too. Kinda dirty but some are willing to do whatever it takes.

I had a lot of love for Brooks after watching him on the challenge tour. I have slowly lost respect for him by the way he talks. I love the way he plays and how he went to Europe to start his pro career but his ego just seems to much. Even for a guy with multiple majors.

Was anyone else disappointed with the pin placement on 16? Back left was always, as far as I can remember, the final round placement and it lent itself to some great moments and a possible turning point in the tournament.

I wonder if they always planned that pin or a change due to soft conditions. We are all so used to how that normal position is played and it would have played vastly different with it so soft.
The vaunted Sub Air system really did not seem to do its job this week.

Great job by DJ.  You could really see what that meant to him.  I always though DJ put forth a facade when it came to dealing with the media, it was always basic answers and sometimes just flat out screwing with them.  Today it broke down and you saw a little of what was on the inside.  It is nice to see someone fulfill a dream while being at the pinnacle of their sport.

Brooks is mad because he got dissed a few summers ago by the media. He was the defending champion at the PGA and they didn’t interview him. That was back when Brooks gave the boringest answers. That pissed off Brooks off and he’s been a more interesting interview since.

Ya, I just watched the presser. He actually very normal, lol, just soft spoken. Hard to imagine him mad but, with these quiet ones, look out if he is!

Didn’t realize he grew up so close to Augusta. His childhood dreams come true, amazing.

It’s like if you grew up playing ball in NYC schoolyards and end up playing center field for the Yankees and winning the World Series.

I guess it’s cause Paulina but got me thinkin...if you win the green jacket, do you wear it to “bed”? 😂

SubAir is just like us, a slave to the laws of thermodynamics. If it’d been 90* with the same humidity it would’ve dried the greens out more, or if was 70* like it was but with less humidity, or if it’d been warmer overnight, etc.

Anyway, I thought it was nice to see the course playing differently. A little more rough—excuse me, second cut. Some long irons into par 4s, some unreachable 5s, some wedges with way too much spin, some 3 woods that hit and stuck (thinking of Cam on 15 on Saturday there).

Anyone can kill the greens and get them running 15 on the stimp, just ask the USGA. Augusta doesn’t need that crap to be a shotmaker’s course, despite how they usually prefer to set it up.

I agree with you on the USGA version. AN usually finds a much more happy medium. There were balls plugging on the greens. Mother Nature always wins...even at AN.

Does this win extend DJs win streak of 14 seasons? Or does he have to wait until 2021 to extend that? Golf “years” or actual years ?

Good point. I would think this one counts for 2021.

Hard to believe that is true. Even at the club level that kinds of garbage does not work, hard to believe a pro would ever fall for that.

Paging Bryson

He actually admits to a lot of mistakes here. And he gives great props to BL

This sounds odd, not sure what he means,

“I've got to fix whatever is going on up here," he said. "I have no idea. Just dizziness. It's only when I go from down to up, so I can't even like think and talk right now. But that's just what happens -- I go down and up, and my brain gets all disoriented. I've got to fix that, and once I fix it I'll be even better than now, and when something arises in the future, I'll just keep trying to fix it."

Haha, finally win a contest and the prize disappeared --- oh well, me and the pup will do a Nantz/Couples kind of thing, been hearing about that for almost 30 years.
