No celebs at the Pebble Beach Pro-am

Hot take:  I’m stoked to just get some plain golf coverage at Pebble this year...  We get to sit back and enjoy without the nonsense.   Probably going to bring in a really good field, because it is notorious for how slow the rounds are.

Thank god, watching rich middle aged/old men try and play golf is not something we should be subjected to, hopefully a bit more coverage of pebble beach itself

That event has been nothing since James Garner quit playing in it!

 

This is a favorite story (and yes, very wrxer - "so I punched the guy, was I wrong?", lol).  He won the civil trial so no, not found "not guilty", plaintiff lost.  Hey plaintiff, leave your name and number at the beep, I'll get back to ya'!

so glad about this...hated watching the coverage with the annoying celebrities and bad swings...if I want to see bad swings I can play rounds at my course...and look in the mirror as well! Now I can watch coverage of this historic venue and top golfers that I want to emulate...sooo happy!!

Phil Michelson notably not on the list, despite winning a couple years ago and getting close last year. Although I'm not a BDC fan, I'd like to see if he can drive 2 (par 5) with the wind. Note that the hole is a par 4 in the US Open, unlike this tourney.

 

Edit: It's a longshot, but might we see TW join? I know he hasn't played this event in forever, but removing the amateurs makes the event more suited for him. Maybe if he feels good after playing Torey then he'll commit. This will be TW's last chance to play Pebble in a tournament round for a long while.

Eh, #2 green is about the size of a Denny's pancake. Guarded by trees to the left and right and the waste area in front. 

 

I'd bet on him winding up either in #3 fairway or someone's back yard.

I get the tradition of the Pro am there, but it's time for a change.  Either cut the TV time dedicated to them by 90% in the future, or make the ProAM tournament a Thursday and Friday thing only.  I'd actually be fine with that, I rarely tune in to regular events during the week, but I'd like some quality golf only on the weekends.

I wonder if CBS knows how reviled the amateur portion of the Pebble Beach tournament is? I've never talked to someone who has enjoyed the celebrities in the last 10 years.

A couple of small items.... Phil is in the field at Pebble and Tiger has not committed to play Torrey.
