I just bought a brand new set of mp20 5i-PW for 700$. Its going to be the first set of mizunos i’m going to own. I was going to wait for the new mp22, but not sure if there will be that much of a difference to justify spending over 1200$ and waiting possibly another 6+ months. good idea or bad idea?

Sounds solid to me.  Shouldn’t be that big of a performance difference all other things being equal between the 20 and 22 blades.  Take that extra $500 and spend it on other stuff.

Definitely a good idea.  I love my MP 20's.  I may or may not buy some MP-22's.  It will depend on how much I like them.  But either way, I'm not trading in my MP 20's anytime soon and if I don't get 22's I will re-shaft my 20's.  They are some of the best heads I have ever hit.

As I said, may be wrong, just different than I have seen over the years

No maybe about it. You are wrong. USGA conforming club pics seriously don't lie.

Also Golf magazine ran an article on Rose using them at the Open and had the Mizuno Pro 221/223/225 nomenclature which is also on the USGA site and extremely unlikely to change. I personally like the retro cursive black Mizuno Pro script and the 221 number. Looks cool, IMHO

What if I told you that the MP 18 and MP 20 models and Japanese release “Mizuno Pro” named equivalent models are both on USGA and R&A sites? Because they are. The truth is nobody knows what the models the rest of the world will get are named until Mizuno announces the new line.

My comment has nothing to do with what was in anybody’s bag. It has to do with the fact that both naming styles are on the approved equipment list.

I’ve been playing hmb for 2 years and I’m hoping for a mp20 price drop.  I do love them and my hc has dropped to 6 but I don’t think I’m going hollow again….

Why, feel not quite right? I’m a 4 and know a thing or two about poor feel as I play Ping G425’s. I’m thinking about going with the HMB’s though. Hit them once and loved them (about 7-10 yards shorter though).

It’s definitely abnormal

but a lot of things are abnormal in the golf market these says

Maybe Mizuno will break from their current naming trend and stick with the scripted. One set of forging molds probably saves them money and inventory headaches. Time will tell.

I can certainly guarantee that Mizuno are waiting for some reason to release the flagship MP line irons, and the JDM version went to the pros for tour validation. I cannot understand why the company would drastically shift the 'Mizuno Pro' brand to the rest of the world out of nowhere.

Ok but what i was getting at is did the jdm version of previous irons go to pros for validation? I dont ever remember that happening… the script is what is script… some love it some hate it…

Will Jan be for orders and instore purchase or do you think we'll have preorders around their normal Aug/Sept time frame?

Curious to what there shaft options will be. I know when custom order goes up for ordering on TGW. I'll be placing mine

Pre orders will definitely not be Aug/Sep.

Look for mid January.

Racine…well that is a long response.  And not to head another direction on this mp22 thread, shoot me a pm.

I love the hmb, they feel great most of the time and they do their job on mishits for sure.  Again, shoot me a pm and I can discuss further!

Voshall said they were going for something a bit different with the new MP line, and that some may not like it. Might have been a TXG interview. I would guess he was partially refering to the script.

Shame, really ruins a nice iron.

maybe the "something a bit different that some may not like" is the 2022 release date 🤪🤷🏻‍♂️

Titleist 620MB has a nice clean back, not busy at all

You're probably right. The script is going to be on JPN and USA release, probably keep the 221 or whatever number also to keep from having two different molds.

Guess we'll see

I can’t see how this mizuno script is so offensive to people. Any true Mizuno lover should love the throw back look! I personally love it and hope it’s the new look for 2022. Like I said in a earlier post, my pre order is typed up and ready to send!
