Mizuno MP-22

Has anyone ever heard of any non-Titleist contracted tour pros playing Titleist irons? I'm sure it happens, I have just not heard of it. Mizuno, yes, you hear it all the time. Not saying it means anything, just crossed my mind and thought it curious.

A lot of guys who are in between deals will pick up Titleist irons for a short stint to get them by, like Patrick Reed did after Nike left the building.

Doesn’t Billy Horschel play a heavily modded set of the current Titleist blades. I know almost all of his bag is Titleist now but I’m pretty sure he’s not an offical contracted Titleist guy.

He does indeed, was initially using the Ping Blueprint irons but now has a set of Titleist MB’s with all sorts of lead tape and custom sole grinds going on. A lot of free agents are using the Titleist TSi3 drivers but not many go to the irons, though there aren’t a whole bunch of free agents these days!

My sources* tell me it'll be an October release for the general public

 

That's from a conversation I had back in June though, who knows if things have changed since then?

Ian from TXG who is def in the know said winter release for MP22. Maybe some official stuff is leaked in fall but they’re def pushing it back a bit and should considering the lead times and back order they currently have on hand.

The sales reps are at their sales meeting now!  Hearing February 3rd release date for the new irons, the Mizuno Pro Script will be on the irons, and they will have the copper underlay on the new irons.

Honestly kudos to Mizuno on delaying the release. I’d much rather see a company due what they’re doing; delaying until lead times are normal than releasing and it taking

months for orders to arrive.

I’m such a mizuno loyalist when it came to irons. I’m a bit more old school and love long irons. The HMB is possibly the worst club I’ve ever put in my bag. And the fact that it’s the only SEL option for you lefty’s has to be infuriating. Gonna either slang my mp20 mbs or hold onto the 5-P and sell these HMB long irons. Hope they improve on whatever the hell those things are. I’m officially a 21 T100 guy now.

It's interesting as I put the 5/6 HMB in the bag and I, too, couldn't make them work. Horrible.

In fairness for the MP20 release, the HMB is only in the SEL 3 and 4 irons. 5-PW is the MB. It was a good left hand release by Mizuno.

Totally agree. MP 20 HMB was big time downgrade from from the MP 18 Fli Hi. Currently have 4,5 MMC. Good iron, but could use a little more launch and forgiveness. Love the MP20 MB P-6 iron and have no desire to move on from them. Really looking closely at the new T200 for the 4,5 iron slot. Just hit the T200 yesterday and they blend with the MP20 MB's almost as well as the MMC. Less offset with the T200 too. Iron shaping Titleist to Mizuno isn't way different. Cosmetically, I would even say the T200 blends better with the MP20 MP than they do with the T100. Not quite sure why T100 got the satin finish and the T200 got chrome.  I will wait and see what the new new HMB's look like. If they aren't perfect, I'm buying a couple T200 irons during the offseason.

I work in importing so I can lend my opinion. It boils down to supply and demand (again my opinion)

 

1. Tons of importers trying to get things shipped, catching up for lost time/sales

2. Limited amount of container space available on cargo vessels

3. Freight right now (for my industry of hardwood at least) is almost triple the cost to ship a single 40' container

4. EVEN WITH freight being outrageous as it is, we as importers have no choice but to pay and do our best to be patient while we wait for the containers to actually ship. Then they get to sit at port and wait to be offloaded. 

 

I don't know for sure this is happening in the Golf industry but I doubt hardwood flooring is the only import suffering this same fate.

Im in the meat industry and from my perspective, your spot on. The US now exports more than we are able to import. I have had many containers delayed by at least a month, truck delays daily, and inconceivable labor issues. 
 

I hate seeing people complain about product releases in golf and delayed orders. They have not idea on the reality of what inflation is doing while we are all trying to be profitable.
