If this is indeed the numbering of the series, it is a shift away from the aesthetics of a seamless combo set. Not that one couldn’t make a combo set, of course, but instead of all clubs in the set having the same number—MP 18 or MP 20 for example—a combo set of these will not be identical.

Yeah, but this is a relatively recent naming convention for Mizuno. Prior generations had different numbers for different models, but the combos (especially address and also sole design) were completely seamless in terms of looks and function.

Hate to say it but I’m not a fan of this decision for the MP line.  If the design and club head design speculation is right.

I swear if Mizuno screws the lefties again with another b.s. SEL set and gives us no real options I'm going to be pissed. If we only get the option for the 223 with no blades I'm also going to be pissed. I will not support a company that does this crap. Titleist, Taylormade, Callaway, and Ping all offer MB's and CB's to lefties. Very rarely do these companies do an iron release without a lefty option for their new lines. One time...... Just one time....... I want the option to build my own set of irons from Mizuno with no restrictions like right handed players get to. It would be so nice to be able to play a full set of blades if I want or mix and match some CB's in..... And not because I have to or there's no other option. I played the MP 20's and had to piece together a set MP-18 SC 3 &4 iron to get rid of the clunker 3 and 4 iron I didn't want. Huge pain in the rear and I hope Mizuno doesn't do that this year because I won't do it again. I will play the Titleist T100's instead and I advice other unhappy lefties to do the same.

Say it louder for them to hear pls

Still not a fan on the scripting but seems like that's how they are in Japan so the US stamping may be different.

Either way I'm buying. Just need to know lofts and shafts options and for presale to go live on TGW whenever that happens.

Also was looking at getting Vokey wedges, that's probably changing now that I've seen the T22 wedges yesterday😎

I never put together that MP stood for Mizuno Pro lol. Nothing is cleaner than a plain blade but honestly I kind of don’t hate the script since it has actual meaning rather than marketing blab like when company’s put tungsten or something on them.

That's just embarrassing for you...  I figured that out at least 24 hour ago when I first saw these pictures 🙂  At the time of my enlightenment I hoped I wasn't the only one, so cheers to you for joining me in this club of shame.  Our first meeting will discuss what does JPX stand for?

The JDM version of the MP series has always had different numbers for the various models in the same line-along with the Mizuno Pro script. These clubs were posted to the R&A conforming list which so happens to govern equipment regulations in..wait for it..Japan. Deep breaths guys.

Coincidentally, the same clubs were listed on the USGA List too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a limited release of the MP-22 blades with the new brushed copper finish we’ve seen on the wedges.

Similar to the MP-20 Coppers.

Wow if they did this they better make more than 2000 sets because I bet they sell out in the first week! And hell yeah I’d be one of the first to pre order to hang them on my wall for a month till I get the nerve to play em!🤣

Since we officially got a glimpse, when do you actually think mizuno will announce the mp-22??

Usually (=before Covid), Mizuno would give out information relatively qickly after showing the clubs to the pros at the Open.

But man, what does "usually" mean nowadays 🤣

So as a proud mp20 player I’m trying not to be overly negative but I’m finding myself underwhelmed. Surprised the head shape is so similar. The difference between the 18 and 20 had me try them, these just look so similar I don’t have any inkling to upgrade. If I didn’t own the 20s things would be different but it feels like a possible lost opportunity.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice shape and the irons I’m sure will be great, but I’m just feeling no urge to upgrade.

If Mizuno Pro is actually written on the back of the club as pictured above Mizuno ruined the club, period.  Too busy.  Will not buy.  Please remove it.  Similar to my MP 20's, little tweaks here and there but club looks busy with Mizuno Pro written on back.  Please remove or will not purchase.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but its been a while since I used the badging on the back of a club to hit the ball or even saw it at address. Do you buy cars solely based on color?

IMO the difference between MP 5, 18, 20, 22 will all be minuscule. We buy the latest and greatest almost entirely for fun/luxury.

In performance maybe, looks and feel definitely not. Obviously can’t tell anything about feel looking at pictures and to some degree looks as pictures are not the same as the real thing, but from what I see these look way too similar to the 20s, and the smallest change from release to release in a while.

I don't mean to hijack the thread....but what Mizuno irons are available in LH?  It looked like there wasn't much of a selection...will the new Mmc 22's be available in LH?

I don't think anyone knows for sure yet, but it looks like another crap selection for us southpaws. It will probably be something we don't want and Mizuno expects us to be grateful for them doing a "SEL" set.  The reality is there is nothing "special" about the SEL set.
