Watching the 2000 open now.  That has to be in the mix.  He’s like a Ro-but.  ( yes. I said robut).

as a side note. How on earth is the video footage of that tournament such horrible quality ???  The greatest exhibition of golf ever on earth , and it looks like old Tom filmed it with a borrowed camera from Getty in  the 1860s. Either that or a cell phone from 2000.  It’s really bad.  Go to YouTube if you don’t recall.  NBC deserves to be disbanded for this failure.

Round 2 Saturday morning, 18th tee audio coverage was good.

He basically set a torch to the modern record books. It's hard to choose just one accomplishment to rule them all.

Winning four consecutive majors is huge, especially when you consider the year-long barrage of pressure and speculation that went along with it.

The consecutive cuts streak is amazing and will never be beaten.

Winning at Pebble by 12 strokes or whatever it was...winning at Torrey on a bum leg...winning that last Masters when everyone counted him out. Just amazing.

This is such a great interview of Tiger being schooled on the facts of life and on the tour by Curtis Strange.

Hahaha!

Most of us are probably old enough to remember professional golf before Tiger. I'd watch, sure, I played the game and wanted to see how the best players handled themselves on the course.

The pre-Tiger era was one where someone as anodyne as Curtis Strange or Jeff Maggert could be considered a "star" on the tour. It was a totally different world. It was much more about fairways and greens and making putts, especially until Daly came along. Daly gave the world a little taste of the feast that Tiger's game delivered.

His amateur championship feat to me is the most impressive.  That dominance had to have embedded his confidence that he will become the best player in the world.

Of all the things mentioned that are beyond belief the more I think about the question I think what impresses me the most is how many times he changed his swing and managed to stay the best player for so long. Think about that awhile. Most of the all time greats never changed their swings. He did it more than once and either stayed or regained his scoring prowess.
I agree on the 6 straight ams. Six years in a row beating the best on 6 different courses in match play! Crazy good.

No doubt on all accounts. He was truly on a different level. Why he’s arguably the greatest golfer ever.

Having a WRX discussion thread almost as long as the one about Rickie Fowler's demise. 🤣

More seriously, tournament sponsors prepare differently if Tiger is in the field.  Double the catering and the potties.  More security  Open the other parking lots.  Charter more shuttle buses.  I don't think any other single player has that effect these days.  Not sure that even Jack had that kind of juice.

Can’t believe anything tops his 3 jr & 3 US Ams

thats 6 major championships before even turning pro

And that gives him more majors than Jack.  Jack still leads the subcategory of professional majors. 😀

Mostly the "swing changes" came from aging and , or, changes to his physique. I first watched Tiger play when he was 14, saw him again from ages 16-17, as a pro at age 21, at age 23,24 after he had added significant muscle weight, at age 30 when aging had begun to limit his flexibility, and for the past 15 years as the aging process continued and injuries further limited his flexibility.

After all he went through, winning East Lake and the following Masters are the stand out moments.

And this is a marvel that no matter how much some despise TW, they cannot question his character or strength in what was entailed in those two wins.

For the 10 previous years, TWs physical problems were the primary factor in not winning a major for a decade. But let’s remember,

TW win 6 times in 2009. No majors and, beaten for the first time when holding the lead in a major.

He won 3 times in 2012 and 5 times in 2013. No majors. And many would argue, it wasn’t the physical limitations, TW had lost his mental edge. He couldn’t close on the biggest stages anymore.

So to come back another 6 years later, body broken and glued back together, off the heels on seeming drug addiction,

And work harder than ever, get up at 430am, gym, golf, rehab. Day after day. Go on the road week after week.

And rise to # 5 in the world against a group of guys half his age. Some saying the strongest and deepest generation of golfers ever.

And beat them  at the TC and then again all of them at the Masters. Yeah, that could be included in his greatest accomplishments for sure.

Has to be the cuts made streak, that is just unbelievable.

I agree and am pleased to see that the majority of votes cast are for "cut streak", an accomplishment which has received relatively little attention from the golf media.
